Get ready sports fans, the SEA Games is coming back to Malaysia!

Sporting events is one of few events where you’ll see every Malaysian unite no matter the race. Truly, it’s one of few times where we see the 1 Malaysia spirit.

As most of you may know, currently the team is out in Hanoi 2021 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). It’s one of the most highly anticipated biennial multi-sport event of all time and it’s subbed the Asian version of the Olympics.

The 2021 SEA Games had been delayed due to the pandemic and is now happening from the 12th to 23rd May 2022.

Tell me an athlete that has never dreamt of competing in the SEA Games or even the Olympics. Every athlete out there had always dreamt of representing their countries and making them proud.

While we are all watching the games, we were given a shocking announcement as Malaysian sporting fans, get ready with your snacks and drinks cause Malaysia will be hosting the 34th SEA Games in 2027!

The Olympics Council of Malaysia made the announcement on their official Facebook page that Malaysia has been awarded to host the 34th SEA Games as the Southeast Asia Games Federation (SEAGF) had unanimously awarded the hosting of the games to Malaysia during the SEAGF meeting in the Vietnam National Convention Centre.

This is also the 7th time that Malaysia will be hosting the regional games and the first time in a decade from the last time we hosted the games which was Kuala Lumpur 2017 (which I have to say, it was a really fun experience).

While we wait for our turn, Cambodia will be hosting the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 and Thailand for the 33rd SEA Games in 2025.

Norza Zakaria who is the president of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) said that they had expressed to host the 34th SEA Games after hearing that Brunei had withdrawn from hosting the even for 2027.

How has Team Malaysia been doing for the SEA Games?

According to the standings, Malaysia is not doing too bad as we have gained 9 Gold, 3 Silver and 11 Bronze and are currently sitting in 2nd place.

Good luck to Team Malaysia for the rest of the games. Ya’ll got this!
