Are you one to drive around town often? If you are, you&rsquo;ll probably be no stranger to the fact that there&rsquo;s a lot of cars on the road and many of them tend to be almost 10 years old or older.
Now in terms of driveability, most modern cars should withstand the test of times and run fairly well past 10 years IF it&rsquo;s maintained properly.

Recently, Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong had turned down a proposal to implement a 10-year vehicle age limit on all vehicles on the road. The main sole reason why he had turned it down is due to the matter being complex and it requires more in depth understanding and research. If something like this were to happen, the only other better solution is to improve our public transport system first.
The minister says that the country must first have a complete public transport before allowing something like this to be put in place. Currently, one of the initiatives done by the government is on the MRT line where the first phase of the Putrajaya line had recently launched, and the third line is set for completion by 2030.

This issue had mainly stemmed from an academic who says the current cause of ongoing traffic congestion is due to the number of vehicles registered on the road have outnumbered the country&rsquo;s population.
Although that the statement is true on the high number of registrations, but former Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai had mentioned that many of the registered vehicles include old vehicles from the British Colonial times.

So how many vehicles are actually registered on the road?
Currently, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) says that there are roughly 21.7 million registered vehicles currently active and more than 10 million of them being inactive. The figures look complicated due to Malaysia not practicing in an end-of-life policy where these inactive cars are given &ldquo;a death certificate&rdquo; or in short, to get crushed.

Meanwhile, experts have criticised the proposal on the cap of lifespan and dispose of vehicles above 10 years. One of the few reasons is due to how unprepared the country is if such implementations were to happen. Furthermore, it was argued that the proposal was &ldquo;irrelevant&rdquo; within the context of infrastructure development.
The only way to implement such procedures is when Malaysia improves the public transport system. For one prime example, look at South Korea or even our neighbours Singapore where the public transport is effective.
Fun fact, did you know that the South Korean government completely removed a major highway within the city which improved traffic flow. This was also due to them massively upgrading their public transport before implementing such thing.

Malaysian Consumer Movement vice-president Beninder Singh also mentioned that there&rsquo;s no need for us to place age limits on vehicles and it should be left to the owners. He also argued that the researchers had not considered that most the vehicles within the 10 years mentioned are in good condition. &nbsp;In fact, if you maintain it well, some cars can surpass 20 years of usage with minimal issues or worries.
&ldquo;Even my late father was driving a 20-year-old vehicle,&rdquo; said the transport minister.
If this was implemented, Malaysians will feel the burden of purchasing cars. Plus, our cars ain&rsquo;t cheap since it has 300% tax on those imported cars and with the current cost of living + inflation happening, no Malaysian will be able to even afford a vehicle later on.
&nbsp;Imagine if you had a classic car over 10 years old or even older than 20 but still runs perfectly fine. One thing is for sure is that Malaysia will definitely need to increase their public transport system on the longer run. 
Aside from new phases of the MRT being implemented till 2030, the LRT is also getting an upgrade in the next 6 months which is the cause of all the current disruptions and long queues. Hopefully by then we&rsquo;ll be seeing newer and 4-coach configurations to suit the current crowd.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day could be heading back to cinemas with a new extended cut featuring previously unseen footage, including a deleted scene involving Rosario Dawson&rsquo;s Claire Temple.
According to reports from Deadline and other industry sources, Sony Pictures is working on a theatrical re-release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which would include additional footage that was not part of the film&rsquo;s original theatrical cut.
The re-release does not yet have an announced release date, but reports suggest Sony is looking to capitalise on the film&rsquo;s enormous box office performance and continued interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Among the most notable additions expected to feature is a scene involving Rosario Dawson&rsquo;s Claire Temple, the fan-favourite character who was introduced during Marvel&rsquo;s Netflix-era television shows.
Rosario Dawson&rsquo;s Claire Temple Could Return

Dawson previously confirmed that she filmed a scene for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but it was ultimately removed before the film reached cinemas.
Claire Temple is particularly recognisable to fans of Marvel&rsquo;s former Netflix shows, having appeared across Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. The character is known as a nurse who often provides medical assistance to superheroes and vigilantes.
While promoting the film, Dawson revealed her disappointment over the scene being cut, while also expressing hope that she could play Claire again.
The reported re-release could finally give audiences the opportunity to see that footage.
However, Claire Temple may not be the only addition. Reports indicate that the extended cut will contain further previously unseen material, with sources teasing that there could be "more surprises" among the extra footage.
Exactly what those surprises are remains unknown.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Continues Its Record-Breaking Run

Sony's decision to prepare an extended cut comes as Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its extraordinary theatrical run.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal. It arrived in cinemas on July 31, 2026, and has since become one of the biggest releases in both Sony and Marvel history.
The film has reportedly surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the highest-grossing film ever at the North American box office. Globally, it has also emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
Its theatrical run has already been extended, despite the film also preparing to arrive on digital platforms. Reports have placed its digital release on October 6, while Sony has extended its cinema run into November.
That continued theatrical momentum could give the studio an opportunity to bring audiences back with a version of the film containing new material.
Sony Has Tried The Extra-Footage Strategy Before

This would not be the first time Sony has returned a Spider-Man film to cinemas with additional footage.
In 2022, Spider-Man: No Way Home received a theatrical re-release under the title Spider-Man: No Way Home &ndash; The More Fun Stuff Version. The extended release added roughly 10 minutes of footage, including additional moments involving Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Sony could now be looking to replicate that strategy on a larger scale with Brand New Day, although the exact amount of new footage has not been confirmed.
The difference this time is the sheer scale of Brand New Day's box office success, as well as the film's position within the wider MCU.
With audiences already invested in Peter Parker's future, previously unseen scenes involving established Marvel characters could provide an additional reason for fans to return to the cinema.
Could The Re-Release Connect To Avengers: Doomsday?

The timing is particularly interesting because it follows the successful theatrical return of Avengers: Endgame with Avengers: Endgame Encore.
Originally released in 2019, Endgame returned to cinemas with additional footage designed to build anticipation for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. The re-release reportedly generated $86 million worldwide, including $26 million in North America, demonstrating the continued commercial appeal of adding new Marvel material to an established blockbuster.
Unlike a traditional re-release, Endgame Encore used its additional footage as a bridge between the events of the original film and the next major Avengers story.
The added material included several new scenes and teases connected to Avengers: Doomsday.
What Did The Extra Endgame Footage Reveal?

The new Endgame footage effectively gave audiences several additional pieces of information about the Marvel Cinematic Universe heading into Doomsday.
One scene extended Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter's ending, with Loki appearing during their reunion and raising questions about the character's involvement with different timelines.
Another new sequence featured Bruce Banner in a secure underground facility, where he is confronted by Victor von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. Doom appears to take Banner from the facility, directly establishing a connection between the Hulk and the upcoming film.
The re-release also returned viewers to the TVA, with Mobius, Ouroboros and Casey responding to a growing number of incursions between different universes. The scenes suggest that the multiverse is heading towards a much larger crisis, potentially setting the stage for the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
Finally, audiences were given another glimpse of Doom, including footage depicting the creation of his iconic mask.
Together, these additions served less as a simple extension of Endgame and more as a promotional bridge into the next Avengers film.
Could Spider-Man: Brand New Day Do Something Similar?

For now, the confirmed reports point towards a re-release featuring previously unseen footage, including Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple, alongside other material that Sony has yet to reveal.
Whether those scenes are simply deleted moments that expand Brand New Day or contain a larger tease for the MCU's next chapter remains to be seen.

Apple is reportedly still working on a successor to its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, despite years of uncertainty surrounding the product and a growing shift towards lighter smart glasses.
According to Bloomberg&rsquo;s Mark Gurman, Apple is developing a new project codenamed N224, which could eventually become the next-generation Vision Pro. The project is still in the early stages, with Apple reportedly exploring as many as four different designs as it considers how to make the headset lighter, more practical and potentially more affordable.
However, the future of the project remains uncertain. Gurman reports that the development is currently on &ldquo;life support&rdquo;, with disagreements within Apple over the direction of the device. If the project survives, a new Vision Pro is not expected before late 2028 or early 2029.
Apple Is Still Trying To Solve The Vision Pro&rsquo;s Biggest Problem

When Apple launched the Vision Pro in 2024, the headset attracted significant attention for its high-resolution displays, eye and hand tracking, spatial audio and visionOS platform.

The original Vision Pro launched in the US at US$3,499, while the headset can weigh around 600g to 800g depending on its configuration and headband. Combined with the external battery, the overall system is considerably heavier and less convenient than conventional VR headsets and smart glasses.
Apple has reportedly explored several ways to address these problems since the Vision Pro launched.
One previous project, known as N100 or Vision Air, was intended to produce a lighter and potentially more affordable headset. That project was reportedly shelved as Apple shifted some of its attention towards smart glasses.
The newly reported N224 project appears to have a different objective. Rather than simply creating a cheaper version of the Vision Pro, Apple could be looking at a full successor that retains a flagship-level experience while potentially reducing both its weight and price.
Apple Is Exploring Four Different Vision Pro Designs

However, the external puck design reportedly faces resistance from some Apple executives, who believe an all-in-one headset would provide a better overall user experience.
This disagreement appears to be one of the reasons why the future of N224 remains uncertain.

Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses take a different approach by focusing on cameras, audio and AI features rather than immersive displays. The partnership between Meta, Ray-Ban and EssilorLuxottica has helped demonstrate the potential of making smart glasses more suitable for everyday use.
Samsung's XR platform is another competitor to watch, with the company developing its own extended-reality hardware and software ecosystem in partnership with Google and Qualcomm.
Meanwhile, Sony's PlayStation VR2 continues to target gaming, offering a more focused virtual-reality experience built around the PlayStation 5.
For Apple, however, the biggest challenge may not simply be competing with other VR headsets. It could be deciding what the Vision Pro should become in the first place &mdash; a powerful premium spatial-computing device, a lighter mainstream headset, or eventually a pair of everyday smart glasses.
For now, the next-generation Vision Pro remains far from certain. If Apple's N224 project moves forward, consumers may have to wait until 2028 or 2029 to see whether Apple can deliver a headset that addresses the weight and price concerns that have followed the Vision Pro since its launch.

Apple Vision Pro Successor Reportedly In Development As Apple Explores Lighter Designs

BTS made history at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), sweeping all three categories in which they were nominated and adding several new records to their growing list of achievements.
The K-pop group won Song of the Year for &ldquo;SWIM&rdquo;, as well as Best K-Pop and Best Group at the ceremony held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on 27 September.
The wins mark another major milestone for BTS following the group&rsquo;s return to full-group activities earlier this year after a lengthy hiatus while the seven members completed their mandatory military service.
Despite their three victories, BTS did not attend the ceremony in person, with all three of their awards announced outside the live televised portion of the show.
BTS Wins Song Of The Year With &ldquo;SWIM&rdquo;

Released in March, &ldquo;SWIM&rdquo; became a major global hit, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching No. 2 on the UK Official Singles Chart. The track also topped Spotify&rsquo;s Daily Top Songs Global chart for 25 consecutive days following its release.
BTS Extends Best Group Record

BTS also picked up Best Group, extending a record they had already established at the VMAs.
The group previously won the fan-voted award four consecutive times from 2019 to 2022. Their latest victory brings their total to five Best Group wins, making BTS the most-awarded act in the category. The award comes during an important year for the group, which resumed full-group activities in March following the members&rsquo; military service.
In a statement released through their agency, BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS thanked their fans, known as ARMY, for their continued support.
The group described ARIRANG as a &ldquo;new beginning&rdquo; and said the Song of the Year victory for &ldquo;SWIM&rdquo; was particularly meaningful because of the people who had supported and loved their music.
The members also said they would continue to deliver new music and performances together.
Fourth Best K-Pop Win Gives BTS Another Record

BTS completed their VMA sweep by winning Best K-Pop for &ldquo;SWIM&rdquo;, securing their fourth victory in the category.
The group competed against BLACKPINK, CORTIS, KATSEYE, LE SSERAFIM featuring j-hope and LISA.
Before this year&rsquo;s ceremony, BTS and BLACKPINK&rsquo;s Lisa were tied with three Best K-Pop wins each. BTS&rsquo; latest victory therefore gives the group sole possession of the Best K-Pop record at the VMAs with four wins.
The group previously won the category in 2019, 2020 and 2021, adding another record to a VMA history that dates back to their first nomination in 2019.
BTS&rsquo; Historic Wins Were Not Part Of The Live Telecast

This means that while a user may initially have been the victim of an account takeover, their account could later be blocked by WhatsApp because of activity carried out while it was under someone else&rsquo;s control.
MCMC clarified that the blocking of accounts is handled by WhatsApp itself, rather than the Malaysian government or the communications regulator. Its role is to investigate complaints and engage with Meta regarding affected users.
What To Do If Your WhatsApp Account Is Blocked

Users who receive a notification stating that their phone number is no longer allowed to use WhatsApp may be able to request a review directly through the app.

WhatsApp says reviews are generally completed within 24 hours, after which users will be notified of the decision.
However, if the &ldquo;Request Review&rdquo; option does not appear, the restriction may be final and cannot be appealed through the in-app review process.
Users should also be aware that third-party services cannot officially remove a WhatsApp ban. Account restrictions can only be reviewed or lifted by WhatsApp itself.
MCMC has advised affected users to first use WhatsApp&rsquo;s official account recovery and verification channels. If the issue remains unresolved, users can lodge a complaint with MCMC, which can then refer the matter to Meta for further action.
Do Not Share Your WhatsApp Verification Code

Users should also enable Two-Step Verification on WhatsApp and avoid clicking suspicious links or installing applications from unverified sources.
WhatsApp also offers additional security features, including passkeys, which can provide another layer of protection against attempts to take over an account.
Beware Of WhatsApp Account Recovery Scams

Tencent has launched TenPayGo, a new mobile payment app designed to make it easier for international visitors to pay for goods, food and transport while travelling in China.
Developed by Tencent&rsquo;s Weixin Pay team, the app allows overseas travellers to link foreign-issued bank cards and selected international digital wallets without needing a Chinese mobile phone number.
The launch comes as China experiences growing inbound tourism, with Tencent looking to make its largely cashless payment ecosystem more accessible to international visitors. The app was unveiled at an international payment services event in Shenzhen, Guangdong, ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders&rsquo; Meeting scheduled to take place in the city in November.
No Chinese Phone Number Required

One of TenPayGo&rsquo;s main features is its simplified registration process for overseas users.
Instead of requiring a Chinese mobile number, travellers can sign up using an email address and link payment methods issued in their home countries. The app supports bank cards from seven major international card networks, including Visa and Mastercard, as well as Apple Pay and around 60 overseas digital wallets.
Supported wallets include services such as Starryblu, Hipay and Octopus. However, the current list does not include Malaysian e-wallets such as Touch &rsquo;n Go eWallet or Boost.
Once a payment method is connected, users can scan and pay through TenPayGo at tens of millions of shops, restaurants and attractions connected to Tencent&rsquo;s Weixin Pay network.
This gives international travellers another option for making everyday payments in China without having to set up a local payment account.
TenPayGo is Tencent&rsquo;s first mobile payment app specifically designed for international visitors. The company&rsquo;s existing Weixin Pay service is integrated into WeChat, or Weixin as it is known in mainland China, which combines messaging, social media and digital payments in a single platform.
TenPayGo Also Supports Shenzhen Public Transport

Beyond shopping and dining, TenPayGo is also designed to help overseas visitors get around China.
The app currently allows international travellers to activate a ride code for Shenzhen&rsquo;s bus and metro networks directly from their smartphones. Users do not need a local phone number or a physical transport card to access the service.
The transport integration is currently focused on Shenzhen, although Tencent says it plans to gradually introduce more local transportation and lifestyle services through the platform.
The move could make TenPayGo particularly useful for visitors attending major events in the city, including the upcoming APEC summit.
Shenzhen, one of China&rsquo;s major technology hubs, will host the APEC Economic Leaders&rsquo; Meeting in November. It will be the third Chinese city to host the event, following Shanghai in 2001 and Beijing in 2014.

Tencent has also said it is working with local banks on a tax-refund function. The planned feature is intended to support departure tax refunds for eligible overseas visitors, although details on its availability have yet to be announced.
Foreign Spending In China Is Rising

The launch of TenPayGo comes as spending by international visitors in China continues to increase.
According to data from Weixin Pay, the value of transactions made by overseas e-wallet users in China rose by 80.6 per cent year-on-year during the first eight months of 2026. The number of transactions also increased by 81.8 per cent over the same period.
China has been seeking to attract more international visitors through measures including expanded visa-free travel arrangements and improvements to its tourism infrastructure.
Official figures cited by Xinhua showed that foreign nationals made nearly 61.29 million border crossings into and out of China between January and August 2026, representing a 19.5 per cent increase from the previous year. Visa-free entries accounted for 23.72 million of those crossings, up 26.8 per cent year-on-year.
The increase in international travel has also encouraged Chinese technology companies to expand support for overseas payment services.
Tencent has previously worked to connect international digital wallets to its payment network, allowing visitors to make purchases in China through payment services they already use at home.
In May, Tencent announced an integration with PayPal that allows eligible US travellers to make payments at Weixin Pay merchants in China through the PayPal app.
Tencent Looks To Make China Travel More Accessible

Tencent has also said it will work with domestic online payment-clearing house NetsUnion to connect more overseas digital wallets to its payment network.
