Lately, Malaysians have been looking for alternative ways to earn money and just over two years ago, Socar Malaysia introduced an app called Trevo which allows people to rent out their cars on a short-term basis.

Although it is a decent way to make some side income, one Trevo user had a nightmare of a time when renting out his vehicle which led to his car going missing. His tweet had gone viral on Twitter with 17.7K retweets and 12.5K likes at the time of writing.

Nor Azam Budin had posted on Twitter that he first found the app after seeing a rave of review on social media. He then tried putting his Toyota Alphard onto the platform. In the beginning he was a little hesitant when someone wanted to borrow his car for three days and had turned down the request. He later had another booking on 29 June at 3pm where someone wanted to do a one-day loan on his car from 8:30pm to 8:30pm the next day.
Seeing that it&rsquo;s only for a day, Nor Azam had thought to himself and given the request a green light and a Trevo employee had proceeded to head to his home to collect the vehicle and deliver it to the customer who booked it.

After the 24hrs, the Trevo employee who had went to pick up his car had been informed that the customer will be returning the car himself. Nor Azam then sensed that something is wrong and proceeded to contact Trevo support.
He was informed that the customer had passed the vehicle to his friend who had apparently taken the car to Banting. Nor Azam said that the customer had also took the liberty to message the customer only for him to dodge his question.

Nor Azam later filed a police report the following day and it was informed that the Commercial Crimes Division will handle the case as it involves Trevo. He was also informed that his insurance won&rsquo;t cover the missing vehicle due to it not covering incidents that involve renting the car to Trevo which Nor Azam was surprised as Trevo&rsquo;s FAQ did not reveal that.

The documentations by Trevo was even concerning as the user ahd verified his account despite sending in a picture in dark sunglasses. He had allegedly also used another person&rsquo;s identification card. Another user had stepped forward stating how their Toyota Haice had went missing after renting it out on Trevo and another case had involved the same IC number as the user who had stolen Nor Azam&rsquo;s Alphard.

Trevo releases a statement over the incident
General Manager Susan Teoh said that the customer involved had made a number of bookings on Trevo before and had returned the vehicle without nay incident. Following the complain from Nor Azam, they are now working with the police to resolve the issue. Procedures to recover losses and protect the interest of car owners had also been put in place.

Man's Car Stolen After Renting It Out Via Sharing App

Public transport operator Rapid KL will be extending and enhancing its rail operations between 23 and 27 May 2025, in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit set to take place in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. The temporary changes are designed to manage a significant rise in commuter traffic and facilitate seamless travel for both local passengers and foreign delegates attending the high-level summit.
One-Hour Extension of Peak Rail Services

To better serve passengers during the ASEAN Summit, Rapid KL will implement a one-hour extension to its weekday peak-hour rail operations throughout the five-day event.

<li>Evening peak hours will extend from 4.30pm to 8.00pm (previously 5.00pm to 7.30pm)</li>
</ul>
The adjustments apply to all major Rapid KL rail lines, including the Kelana Jaya, Ampang/Sri Petaling, Kajang, Putrajaya, and KL Monorail lines. The move is expected to benefit daily commuters and help disperse travel loads more efficiently, especially during the early morning rush and evening return hours.
Enhanced Weekend Train Frequencies
In addition to the extended operating hours on weekdays, Rapid KL will also increase train frequencies on Saturday, 24 May, and Sunday, 25 May, when summit-related activities and city tourism are expected to peak.

To ensure a high standard of service delivery throughout the summit period, Rapid KL has announced the deployment of 400 additional personnel across strategically selected rail stations. These staff members will be tasked with assisting passengers, providing guidance to ASEAN delegates, and maintaining order during peak times.
The transport operator also confirmed it will be actively monitoring passenger volumes and train operations in real time, with contingency measures in place should there be an unexpected surge in demand. Extra trains are on standby, ready to be dispatched if necessary.

ZUS Coffee Enters The Tea Game – And CHAGEE Might Just Be In Their Crosshairs

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been grappling with widespread online service disruptions since late April, and now, serious allegations have emerged suggesting that the city&rsquo;s systems may have been the target of a major cyberattack. The incident has sparked public concern, parliamentary scrutiny, and mounting pressure on DBKL to provide a full and transparent explanation.
MP Tan Kok Wai Alleges Hacking and Ransom Demand

Cheras Member of Parliament (MP) Tan Kok Wai recently alleged that DBKL&rsquo;s online infrastructure was compromised by hackers who demanded a staggering USD55 million (~RM236 million) in ransom. According to Tan, this information came from a highly reliable source, though not directly from Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif. Nonetheless, he stated he had sufficient reason to believe the claim was credible.
Tan questioned the prolonged service disruption, arguing that if it were a routine technical glitch, it should not have taken more than three weeks to resolve. "This clearly points to a more severe issue than has been publicly acknowledged," he remarked.
Concerns Over Public Data and Communication Breakdown

The MP further raised alarms over the potential compromise of public data. He highlighted that DBKL&rsquo;s facial recognition system, used to enter its premises, has also failed. Tan also criticised the lack of communication from DBKL. He said he contacted the Mayor&rsquo;s special assistant on 8 May requesting a meeting, but had not received any follow-up. "I&rsquo;m not just bringing this up for political reasons. My constituency&rsquo;s public facilities also need urgent attention. It has been ten days with no reply whatsoever," he said.
Other Members of Parliament have joined Tan in demanding answers. Seputeh MP Teresa Kok reported receiving public complaints over long queues at DBKL offices due to the digital outage. Meanwhile, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng urged DBKL to issue a formal explanation about what has gone wrong with their systems.
Tan further noted that key internal meetings between MPs and the KL Mayor have not taken place. The last known consultation was on 15 April, and meetings scheduled for May have yet to occur. He expressed concern that DBKL&rsquo;s usual governance processes may be disrupted due to the IT system failures.
Impacted Services and Alternative Measures
