We&rsquo;ve all heard and seen bad drivers on the road and most of the time, their reckless driving is the main cause of road accidents whether it being on small coastal roads or even highways.
But what if we see our very own men in blue driving that way?
Recently, dashcam footage of our Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) went viral as it was escorting two luxury vehicles on flatbed trucks and it had endangered road users as they overtook traffic on a double line.

The video was uploaded by Facebook user Hamdan Zakaria and had questioned if the police will be at fault of an accident were to happen due to the convoy was driving on the wrong lane during the encounter. Netizens across social media were certainly outraged at their actions and called out PDRM for their professionalism.
In the video, it was seen that Hamdan&rsquo;s lane was clear with no traffic in front of him. As he was coming out of a corner, the PDRM &lsquo;s Honda Civic police car was seen overtaking a line of cars from the opposite lane forcing him to slow down and steer towards the patch of grass on the side of the road.
The worse part of it all was that there were two flatbed trucks carrying luxury cars behind the police car and it was also followed by a white Ford Ranger. Thankfully, Hamdan did not get involved in an accident but it certainly was a bit of a scare for him.
Meanwhile on Twitter, user @jilmisai had tweeted &ldquo;Congratulations PDRM.. Just put aside the people&rsquo;s safety.&rdquo;

The other question brought up by the user is who did the luxury cars belong to? It&rsquo;s not common to see authorities escorting a flatbed from both front and behind and many also questioned about overtaking on a double line.

&nbsp;PDRM picks up on incident and gives an explanation

The incident was said to happen at the Gua Musang &ndash; Kota Bharu stretch of road. Acting Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun stated that the escort car had given ample warning or reminders by sounding their siren and flashing their police lights.
He also believes that there had been confusion among the public towards the escort car who was authorised to lead the three vehicles behind it.
&ldquo;People raised the question that the escort car was driving dangerously (mengundang bahaya). Actually, the escort car was fulfilling its duty (mengatur dan mengawal) under Section 21 of the Police Act 1967. This means that other road users have to cooperate and slow down, give way to the convoy, or stop to prevent something from happening,&rdquo; he explained.
He also stated that police escort cars have their own set of rules and they cannot simply do as they please while on duty.

A friendly reminder to all motorist on the road, please do obey the law and do note that it is illegal to overtake on double lines which is an offence under the Road Traffic Rules 1959 as it carries a fine of RM300.

There was a shop area in front of us, but we still had to go down a very steep and slippery path to get there,&rdquo; she added.

The session, attended by representatives from the Selangor Health Department, Economic Planning Unit, district health offices, and local councils, was convened to discuss the prospect of a complete ban on vape sales in the state.

&ldquo;This measure is in line with national legislation and reflects Selangor&rsquo;s commitment to safeguard public health, especially that of our younger generation,&rdquo; she said in an official statement.
The state&rsquo;s decision follows growing public concern about the visibility of vape marketing, particularly near schools and public areas, which critics say normalises the habit among impressionable youth.
Vaping Among Teen Boys Described as &lsquo;Alarming&rsquo;

She described the figure as &ldquo;deeply alarming&rdquo; and warned that it signalled a dangerous trend that, if left unaddressed, could have long-term public health implications.
&ldquo;These statistics are not just numbers; they represent thousands of young lives potentially heading down a path of addiction and health problems,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;We cannot afford to be passive. The time to act is now.&rdquo;
Online Sales Remain a Key Regulatory Challenge

These diverse approaches have sparked debate, particularly among industry players who argue that state-level bans conflict with the regulatory framework established by Act 852, which was intended to manage, not prohibit, the vape industry under federal law.
Call for Collective Responsibility
Despite the legal nuances, Selangor is calling for widespread support to ensure the success of its anti-vape campaign. Jamaliah said that the cooperation of parents, schools, healthcare professionals, and civil society organisations is vital to changing the tide of vape use among teens.
&ldquo;We welcome the active involvement of stakeholders at all levels&mdash;state, federal, and grassroots&mdash;to ensure these measures are effective and enduring,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;This is not just a government effort. It must be a collective societal responsibility.&rdquo;
The state government maintains that its actions are motivated not by political expediency but by a genuine concern for the well-being of future generations.
