"I reconnected with the child inside of me," Choi says, "all those films I watched in the cinema when I was in high school, like Alien, Back to the Future, The Terminator. I still remember how thrilled I was, the exhilaration. I couldn't sleep for days because I was so happy."
His passion for the genre does not limit to films as he enthusiastically cites famous sci-fi writers such as Philip K. Dick and Arthur C. Clark. We cannot deny their influences in inspiring Choi to create this film, especially the latter, for Arthur C. Clark proposed that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic".
It is indeed a premise developing the worldbuilding of Alienoid that mingles Korean martial art and magic with robots and aliens pervading the ultramodern setting.&nbsp;
"To me, the science fiction world and traditional Korean fantastical world are quite similar in the end. [In Alienoid] the material world and the psychological world come together in a big explosion. That was the point I found the most thrilling," he says.

Like many blockbuster movies in Hollywood, or the Korean movie series - Along With God, Alienoid is a 2 part series. The second part is planned to be dropped in 2023. Now, there&rsquo;s only the first part for us to peer into the enchanting universe constructed by Choi through the use of great CG effects and storytelling.&nbsp;
The first part illustrates the characters&rsquo; encounters with each other and their time-travelling journey to the past. As for the second half, Choi jokingly claims that the audiences can envisage what will happen to characters who do not join others for time travelling in the first instalment.
It was first screened in Korea on July 20 2022, which gathered 158,162 admissions that topped the South Korean box office. It will be entering the film market of the U.S.A on 26 August 2022.&nbsp;
