Having our savings is one of the most important things we need in our life. Sometimes we tell ourselves, we can spend money and get it back but what if when we really need money, we don&rsquo;t have any spare cash sitting in our banks, what are we going to do?

Another thing we need to take into consideration when saving money is to have a trusted bank to keep it all in safely. Lately, Malaysians have been prone to getting scammed, whether it being jobs abroad by human syndicates to even simple phishing links.
Recently, a Putrajaya Hospital consultant physician and nephrologist Dr Rafidah Abdullah shared a series of posts on Facebook telling how she had lost RM13,000 after her CIMB Malaysia bank account had done three unauthorised transactions.

In her post, Rafidah had gone on to slam the bank for their lack of security measures and shifting the blame to customers. When the transactions had happened, she was not prompted with any transaction authorisation code (TAC) which is normally required with transferring money from one account to another.

In her first post, she had had said &ldquo;Goodbye CIMB&rdquo; and shares how she was a faithful customer for more than 30 years. At the time of writing this, the post had gained 17K likes, 6.2K comments and 10K shares

She shares her disappointment with CIMB where 3 transactions had taken place between 2am &ndash; 2:30am which resulted her in losing RM13,000. She also felt strange that no TAC was requested and all her money was gone in a blink of an eye.
&ldquo;This is absolutely ridiculous. Looks like the money is isn&rsquo;t safe with CIMB bank&rdquo; she says.
Of course, she lodged a report to CIMB as well as the police and Hong Leong bank (the bank which received her money), as well as Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). However, she was more disappointed at the feedback and response gained as the money cannot be returned back to her.
As Rafidah has lost faith in the bank, she says she&rsquo;ll be closing her account swiftly and had also warned others to look out for similar incidents.
What caused her account get hacked?

As the issue went viral, CIMB had contacted Rafidah explaining that the incident was caused as she had accidentally clicked on links a few days ago. Due to that, another phone had managed to register to her bank account.

The irony was, Rafidah says she had not downloaded any suspicious mobile apps during the time this had happen. She had asked a simple question on why does the bank not require a TAC when a new mobile phone is registered?
&ldquo;I urge CIMB to only allow one mobile number for CIMB Clock, or please call the account owner to verify if there&rsquo;s a change in numbers&rdquo; she added.
She ended this post by demanding CIMB to take quick action as &ldquo;it&rsquo;s not rocket science.&rdquo; She also states that CIMB should tighten their SOPS as the money is every individual hard-earned money.
In her <a href="https://www.facebook.com/rafidah72/posts/pfbid02p8CgQc9NZVXNeV2jtMig6uT9VjqA2wMhnYwALs3NSQT4nJRCxSxvYJQvj1cAscMBl">fourth post</a>, Rafidah had vented over how CIMB had made a Facebook post of reminding their customers and the public of fraud and to avoid cybercrime on themselves. She calls upon citizens to demand for the bank to secure their transactions and not for the bank to blame customers when these issues occur.
&ldquo;Security is your responsibility. Not to point fingers at your customers. Your security must be intact. That is your job and responsibility,&rdquo; said Rafirah to CIMB Malaysia.
She ended her vent with her demanding CIMB to replace all the money lost by Malaysians affected by scammers and hackers as it was not their fault. I&rsquo;m sure no one would like to get hacked or scammed.
Netizens online have mixed reactions over the incident
With multiple posts online gaining social media traction, many netizens had reacted differently over the post. Some had showed support to her and some were somewhat against the doctor as well.

Rafidah had also shared a private message that she had received where someone accused her for blaming others over her account getting hacked.

The user who had messaged her stated she pointed fingers to make others hate a bank due to her own &ldquo;ego and stupidity&rdquo;.
She responds to the hater and questioned them on why is it her fault when CIMB allowed a second phone to register to her CIMB Clicks account. She also iterates that she&rsquo;s not changed her number nor added a second number to her account overt he last 30 years.
In a more non-context argument, the hater also stated that when patients were to seek treatment for a kidney issue due to consuming rubbish products, she&rsquo;ll blame the patients too. As a response she says &ldquo;Blaming patient? Yes, I&rsquo;ll tell them that the kidney damage is caused by rubbish products. That&rsquo;s not blaming.&rdquo;
What happens if an issue like this happens overseas?

An incident like this has happened in Singapore where customers of OCBC Bank had fallen for a scam and had their money had been list.
The bank had taken immediate action and had returned all the users money. As the issue was persistent for a while, the bank had made the necessary measurements to protect their customers and had stopped all the scam issues within a month. As a goodwill, the bank even covered the money lost to their customers.
Hopefully CIMB will take swift action towards this incident. To all Malaysians out there, always be careful when browsing and downloading apps, if you think the link looks suspicious, do avoid it at all cost. Additionally, do not share your personal banking details and ensure that the site you are browsing is a secure site.

What began as an ordinary late-night drive through the streets of George Town turned into a terrifying ordeal for a young woman, after a confrontation on the road allegedly escalated into a violent and humiliating assault involving a firearm. The alleged assailant? A man bearing the prestigious title of &lsquo;Datuk Seri&rsquo;.
The shocking incident, which unfolded in the early hours of 1 June, has not only sparked public outrage but also raised troubling questions about the ease with which influential individuals in Malaysia obtain and wield firearms &mdash; sometimes, quite literally, against unarmed members of the public.
Pistol Allegedly Shoved Into Victim&rsquo;s Mouth

According to the police report filed by the 28-year-old victim, the confrontation escalated rapidly and turned violent. The suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time. He is said to have brandished a gold-coloured pistol and, in a deeply disturbing act of aggression and humiliation, forced the weapon into the woman's mouth.
He then allegedly pistol-whipped her, using the grip of the firearm to strike her face, causing severe injuries. The suspect also reportedly punched her repeatedly in the face using both the weapon and his bare hands. The victim sustained a broken nose and bruising around her left eye as a result of the attack.
Following the incident, she received emergency treatment at Penang General Hospital before filing a formal complaint with the Northeast District Police at 5.57pm the same day.
Suspect Turns Himself In, Firearm and Licence Confiscated

Northeast District Police Chief, ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad, confirmed the details in an official statement. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon, and Section 34 of the Arms Act 1960, which prohibits the use or possession of firearms while intoxicated.

G-Dragon Concert Organisers Announce New Ticket Sale Date, But Fans Remain Sceptical Over Transparency

AirAsia MOVE, the travel superapp under Capital A Berhad, is facing intense backlash in the Philippines following allegations that it inflated airfares during a time of urgent public need. What was intended to be a seamless travel platform is now under investigation for potential &ldquo;economic sabotage&rdquo;&mdash;a serious criminal offence in the country.
The controversy erupted when several users reported being quoted airfares that were significantly higher than standard prices, particularly for domestic routes. The most widely reported case involved a one-way flight from Manila to Tacloban City, sold through AirAsia MOVE for PHP77,000 (approximately RM5,880)&mdash;almost three times the fare listed on the official Philippine Airlines website.
Bridge Closure Triggers Surge in Air Travel Demand

The situation was exacerbated by the partial closure of the San Juanico Bridge, a 2.16-kilometre structure and the primary transport link between the islands of Samar and Leyte. The Philippine government temporarily restricted access to prevent structural deterioration, which in turn led to a surge in air travel demand, as travellers had few other alternatives.
Philippine Transport Secretary Vince Dizon accused AirAsia MOVE of capitalising on the crisis. He shared the experience of Leyte 4th District Representative Richard Gomez, who was charged nearly PHP40,000 (~RM3,053) for a one-way flight from Tacloban to Manila, a route that usually costs around PHP12,000 (~RM916).
In response to mounting public outrage, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) issued a cease-and-desist order against AirAsia MOVE, effectively suspending the platform&rsquo;s operations in the country. Dizon added that the Philippine government would be filing a case of criminal economic sabotage against the company, with further investigations to be carried out by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police&rsquo;s Anti-Cybercrime Group, who have been instructed to restrict access to the app.
AirAsia MOVE: &ldquo;We Do Not Set Prices&rdquo;

In its defence, AirAsia MOVE has strongly denied any wrongdoing. The platform maintains that it does not manually manipulate or set airfares. Instead, as an Online Travel Agency (OTA), it acts as a digital storefront that displays flight availability and prices as received from authorised upstream suppliers, including third-party aggregators and Global Distribution Systems (GDS).
According to AirAsia MOVE&rsquo;s Chief Executive Officer Nadia Omer, the discrepancies were caused by a technical issue&mdash;specifically, a temporary data synchronisation error with the platform&rsquo;s flight pricing partners.
&ldquo;This technical discrepancy was not isolated to MOVE,&rdquo; Omer said in an official statement. &ldquo;Other booking platforms such as Agoda, Kiwi.com, and Traveloka were also affected by the same pricing issue.&rdquo;
She added that as soon as the issue was identified, AirAsia MOVE took immediate corrective action and reported the matter to its third-party pricing provider for resolution. In addition, the platform has implemented new safeguards to ensure similar issues do not occur in future.
Platform Claims Full Compliance and Cooperation

Philippine Airlines, the national flag carrier, was the airline involved in the disputed pricing&mdash;indicating that the problem stemmed from third-party listings rather than AirAsia&rsquo;s own flight operations.

Farhana explained that she had intentionally pretended to forget her daughter&rsquo;s birthday in order to create a more dramatic surprise on the day. The party revealed not only a grand setup but an impressive list of gifts that left many viewers stunned.

&ldquo;All of Yaya&rsquo;s desires have been granted almost every day. So when her birthday came around, I was truly at a loss for what to give her,&rdquo; Farhana said.
Despite describing the lavish celebration as a &ldquo;small gift&rdquo;, the statement sparked a wave of mixed reactions online.

In a separate video, Farhana is also seen surprising her daughter&rsquo;s former driver with a luxury car as a gesture of appreciation, further adding to the extravagance and conversation surrounding the event.

A 25-year-old British software engineer has gone missing in Kuala Lumpur after a night out in Bangsar, prompting a desperate search by his family and police in both Malaysia and the UK.

Jordan Michael John Johnson-Doyle, from Merseyside, England, was last heard from on the evening of Tuesday, 27 May. At around 8pm, he sent a photograph of a pub quiz poster at Healy Mac&rsquo;s Irish Bar in Bangsar to his best friend, which now marks his final known communication.
Jordan, who has been backpacking solo through Southeast Asia and the Mediterranean for the past 18 months while working remotely for a US-based company, had arrived in Malaysia from Vietnam on 17 May. He was believed to be staying at the Robertson Residences in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
Family Raises Alarm After Uncharacteristic Silence
His mother, Leanne Burnett, became alarmed when she didn&rsquo;t hear from him the following day, something she describes as completely out of character. The two last spoke on Monday, 26 May, with no indication of anything amiss.
&ldquo;He always checks in regularly because he knows how worried we get,&rdquo; she told the Daily Mail. &ldquo;If he had lost his phone or laptop, he knows my number by heart. He&rsquo;d go to a hotel or an internet caf&eacute; to get in touch. The silence is just not like him.&rdquo;
Phone Signal Lost After Three Days

Concerned, Leanne used the Find My iPhone app early on 28 May and saw Jordan&rsquo;s phone last pinged at a block of residential flats near the pub on Jalan Telawi 3. However, the location had not updated for 11 hours. The phone then went completely silent by Friday, 30 May, suggesting it may have either run out of battery or been turned off.
&ldquo;Tracking him throughout the day didn&rsquo;t help &mdash; the location never changed. It was like he just disappeared,&rdquo; she added. &ldquo;We have no idea what has happened, but something is seriously wrong.&rdquo;
Efforts to Locate Jordan Intensify

Leanne has since filed a missing person report with Merseyside Police, the British Consulate, and Malaysian authorities. The British High Commission has confirmed it is supporting the family. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain also told local media that he had asked Kuala Lumpur police to verify the report and initiate further investigations.
On 3 June, Brickfields police confirmed receiving the missing person&rsquo;s report a day earlier. OCPD Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood urged anyone with information to come forward and contact either their nearest police station or Pantai Police Station chief ASP Khairul Nizam Ramle at +60 14-700 0672. He also advised the public to avoid speculation.
Desperate Plea from Family: &ldquo;We Just Want Him Home&rdquo;

She also provided her contact number (+44 7754 718679) and encouraged anyone with potential leads to reach out via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
&ldquo;We&rsquo;re preparing to fly to Malaysia to search for him ourselves. I just want to get over there, find him, and bring him home,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;This is every parent&rsquo;s worst nightmare.&rdquo;
Jordan is described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall, of medium build, with shoulder-length mousy brown hair usually tied in a bun. At the time of his disappearance, he was in Bangsar, a popular nightlife district in Kuala Lumpur.
Call for Public Help
As the search intensifies, both British and Malaysian authorities, along with Jordan&rsquo;s loved ones, are urging the public to assist in any way possible. Whether through sightings, CCTV footage, or conversations overheard on the night of 27 May, even the smallest detail could be crucial in tracing his whereabouts.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to immediately contact the authorities or reach out to Leanne directly. The family remains hopeful that Jordan will be found safe, but as time passes, their concern grows ever deeper.
