For may Malaysians out there, we all depend on transport to make out way around the city. From our own private vehicles to even public transport.
But lately, since businesses have opened again and many are back to working full force in the office, there&rsquo;s just one thing we can&rsquo;t help avoid and that&rsquo;s traffic.

From sitting for hours in the car to even waiting for a while for the train and squeezing in just to go to the office or get back home on time there&rsquo;s no escape&hellip; or is there? Alternatively, if the weather permits, another alternate form of transport would be riding a motorcycle. It&rsquo;s small and quick to cut through traffic and you won&rsquo;t need to wait in the long jams. But with taking motorcycles, there&rsquo;s always a risk, from the weather to even one bad driver on the road, a small slip could end up catastrophic.
A Warning To All Motorist
Recently, a local netizen Edmund Seow had took to <a href="https://www.facebook.com/edmundseow90/posts/pfbid02sEtqcGkVwrGqCSMuUg62RsTiUd9mdB3av9cAeskX9jUbgSXs1sFSVtsdMPjRHNPBl">Facebook</a> to share a post on how his father had almost suffered a terrible injury on his neck from riding his motorcycle.
Edmund shared that when he returned home and met with his father, his neck had an injury. Edmund and his wife were told to take a look at it and they realised that a thin gash was seen on the right-side of his neck.

It was noted that his father had been riding his motorcycle from Rivercity Business Park in Batu Pahat, Johor and back to his home. While riding, he was caught off guard when he suddenly felt something invisible catch around his neck and tugged against him.
&ldquo;If I had been riding any faster, I could have had my whole head cut off,&rdquo; said his father.
What Caused The Incident?
After getting tangled by the barely visible line, Edmund&rsquo;s father had noticed that he had drove into a kite string. It was alleged that the kite string had came from a group of children who were playing with kites along the roadside.

He then proceeded to reprimand the children for playing with their kites close to the road. He told them not to do so as it could endanger the lives of others. Edmund&rsquo;s father is currently okay and has been prescribed medication to avoid infection on the wound.
Netizens Comment On The Incident
Looking at the comments, it seems that this incident isn&rsquo;t a one-off thing. Many incidents of motorist being tangled by kite strings were in the comments.
Netizen ImanZul even mentioned to make a police report and the district council. He says that he can&rsquo;t do anything as well as there are always kids flying kites outside the River City area and despite how many times, he&rsquo;s told them off, the kids don&rsquo;t listen.

Another netizen commented that her husband&rsquo;s cut was even bleeding and he to be sent to the hospital for stitches. The doctor informed that it had almost cut the main veins which could of caused non-stop bleeding.

Aside from incidents of getting tangled by the neck and suffering cuts, some netizens commented that the kite strings are sometimes on the ground and they too trip over it.
Now that&rsquo;s a lesson learnt. If you&rsquo;re thinking of going out to take advantage of our current windy weather to fly kites, remember to do so in an open field where it&rsquo;s out of harms way. If your kite were to crash, always od try your best to clean after the left-over string as it could really cause some serious injury.

There was a shop area in front of us, but we still had to go down a very steep and slippery path to get there,&rdquo; she added.

With a score of 979 points, Singapore was identified as one of the institute&rsquo;s so-called &ldquo;Gold Cities&rdquo; &mdash; a label given to urban centres offering consistently high standards of living.
Education and innovation were named as key pillars of the city&rsquo;s success, with local universities ranked among the top 50 globally and a remarkable 7.37 patents granted per 10,000 residents, highlighting a &ldquo;steady pipeline&rdquo; of new ideas. Singapore also enjoys high digital literacy, with 55 per cent of citizens possessing digital skills and over 63 per cent fluent in a foreign language &mdash; a reflection of its global connectivity.

From a governance standpoint, the city scored highly thanks to its 95.81 per cent voter turnout, its expansive open data ecosystem featuring over 8,000 datasets, and a robust e-governance framework offering digital access to services ranging from online payments to scheduling public appointments.
Singapore&rsquo;s healthcare system also drew praise. The city offers universal medical insurance, a doctor-to-population ratio of 2.8 per 1,000, and an average life expectancy of 83 years. Mental health services are reportedly expanding, with 15 per cent of adults receiving coordinated care.
Mobility and public safety also contributed to Singapore&rsquo;s high standing. All public transport vehicles are accessible to individuals with disabilities, while traffic-related fatalities remain exceptionally low at 0.24 per 10,000 residents. The instruction was issued following a high-level coordination meeting on 16 May, chaired by Selangor&rsquo;s Executive Councillor for Public Health and Environment, Jamaliah Jamaluddin. The session, attended by representatives from the Selangor Health Department, Economic Planning Unit, district health offices, and local councils, was convened to discuss the prospect of a complete ban on vape sales in the state.

&ldquo;This measure is in line with national legislation and reflects Selangor&rsquo;s commitment to safeguard public health, especially that of our younger generation,&rdquo; she said in an official statement.
The state&rsquo;s decision follows growing public concern about the visibility of vape marketing, particularly near schools and public areas, which critics say normalises the habit among impressionable youth.
Vaping Among Teen Boys Described as &lsquo;Alarming&rsquo;

She described the figure as &ldquo;deeply alarming&rdquo; and warned that it signalled a dangerous trend that, if left unaddressed, could have long-term public health implications.
&ldquo;These statistics are not just numbers; they represent thousands of young lives potentially heading down a path of addiction and health problems,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;We cannot afford to be passive. The time to act is now.&rdquo;
Online Sales Remain a Key Regulatory Challenge

Despite the legal nuances, Selangor is calling for widespread support to ensure the success of its anti-vape campaign. Jamaliah said that the cooperation of parents, schools, healthcare professionals, and civil society organisations is vital to changing the tide of vape use among teens.
&ldquo;We welcome the active involvement of stakeholders at all levels&mdash;state, federal, and grassroots&mdash;to ensure these measures are effective and enduring,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;This is not just a government effort. It must be a collective societal responsibility.&rdquo;
