We live in a country filled with diverse cultures, festivals and food. Malaysian food is to die for, no wonder we have so many food influencers on Tiktok. We also have numerous tourist attractions and breathtaking views which just steals your heart.
Tourists who visit Malaysia would be confused buying souvenirs for their family and friends as there are too many to choose from. The souvenirs to buy from Malaysia would be our beautiful handcrafts. We have talented Malaysians who did not forget our roots and still make handcrafts so these traditions would not fade away as the wave of technology is taking over.

Batik&nbsp;

Malaysian Batik is one of the world's oldest crafts, with its own distinct regional flavour. Malaysian artists manufacture batik using four major techniques: block printing, free-style sketching (to make batik tulis), silk-screening, or tie-dying the cotton or silk cloth. They typically begin with a white or beige fabric. To manufacture batik tulis, artists hand draw the design on a white cloth before applying colour with brushes. Malaysian batik differs from Indonesian Javanese batik in that it rarely includes canting, which involves applying wax in complicated lines and dots using a hand tool. It also makes use of more brilliant colours. The prominent motifs include huge leaves, flowers, and butterflies, as well as geometrical designs. Tunics, sarongs, scarves, pillow covers, table cloths, and art pieces are made from Batik cloth. 
Songket

Songket is a hand-woven cloth made from silk or cotton threads with silver or gold threads. The threads are weaved together using a specific process known as "supplementary weft," and they frequently depict elaborate natural patterns. Songket, which originated in the Srivijaya Empire in the 7th century, gained popularity in Malaysia as a status symbol as a result of marine trade and mixed marriages. It is worn during religious rites and significant occasions such as weddings, childbirth, and funerals. The vibrant colours and soft feel of the cloth give a sumptuous aesthetic that is unrivalled by other materials.
Labu Sayong

Labu sayong is a gourd that was traditionally used as a water pitcher. The clay containers are associated with the royal town of Kuala Kangsar in Perak, where they are manufactured in numerous villages within the Sayong district. Sayong is worth a visit because of its pottery scene. The ceramics in this shop have a charming rustic feel that sets them apart from modern ceramics. The original Labu Sayong is black with a simple pattern. The colour is caused by rice husks in the soil, which are burned during the pottery production process.
Tekat

The traditional craft of gold-and-silver thread embroidery, Tekat, dates back to the 15th century in Malaysia, when Middle Eastern traders introduced it to the local society. Its delicate splendour naturally grabbed the attention of people, including monarchy and aristocracy. As a result, they commissioned experienced local artisans to create Tekat artefacts for their royal apartments and ceremonial usage. Its sumptuous appearance, velvet was frequently used as the fabric for the Tekat. Furthermore, a well-made Tekat can retain its quality for 15 to 20 years. 
&nbsp;Keris

Keris, also known as Kris, a dagger with asymmetrical sides and a wavy blade that is thought to be endowed with magical abilities. It has Javanese origins reaching back to 875 AD, and its popularity can be linked to the Majapahit Empire's influence (around 1492 AD). Keris, seen not just as a weapon but also as a spiritual talisman, is still used in religious and cultural occasions as part of the ceremonial garb. Keris making, which is popular in Kuala Terengganu, is becoming a disappearing art among Malaysian artists. However, a devoted following believes the Keris has historical significance in the region
&nbsp;Wau Bulan

Another well-known Malaysian handicraft is the Wau, or kite. The Wau, which is traditionally flown in Kelantan and Terengganu, comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, and variants, with the Wau bulan being the most recognisable. Along with the Malaysan tiger, hibiscus, and batik, the Wau bulan is a Malaysian icon. Wau puyuh, Wau kucing, Wau jala budi, and Wau merak are some other varieties of Wau. A typical Wau bulan is around 2.5m wide and 3.5m long. Its bamboo frame is adorned with paper that has been painstakingly hand-cut to display stunning flower or even batik designs. One of the most well-known traditional Wau manufacturers in Kelantan was the late Sapie Jusoh, who was named a national Adiguru Kraf Wau (Wau Craftmaster) in 2006.&nbsp;
