We&rsquo;ve all heard of a scam where random Facebook or Instagram users approach you stating that they are an old currency collector looking to purchase old banknotes, right?
But this time around, everyone is pretty desperate for money as our economy isn&rsquo;t doing too well and inflation is really affecting many Malaysians. It goes to the extent some Malaysians can&rsquo;t even afford basic household items for themselves or even to support their child.
Beware Of Fake Ringgit Notes

With that being said, many would do anything to get their hands on money and it looks like our bank notes are experiencing a counterfeiting issue. A Facebook post was seen online which offered fake Ringgit banknotes at a rate of RM200 for RM1,000 fake banknotes, RM300 for RM2,000 and RM400 for RM3,500 fake banknotes.
The seller also claimed that the fake Ringgit banknotes are similar in printing and quality to the notes issued by Bank Negara Malaysia (BSN). It even has different serial numbers that are not cloned off other banknotes and can bypass the UV authenticity factors that&rsquo;s used by the note-counting machines. &nbsp;
However, there&rsquo;s still a catch to purchasing these banknotes. If you&rsquo;re thinking of keeping the money, you&rsquo;ll need to physically keep it as the fake banknotes cannot be used at automated teller machines (ATM). If you&rsquo;re thinking of purchasing something with fake banknotes, the seller also advises those who purchase the currency to spend it in one place and to never spend over RM10,000 in one go.
Remember, Counterfeiting Is An Offence

DAP Kuala Kangsar Member of Parliament Chong Zhemin has warned the Malaysian people about these fraudulent schemes and advised them not to trade genuine currency for fake banknotes from such vendors during his discussions with the press on this issue.
&ldquo;After we found out about the post, me and my assistant decided to lodge a report. At this time, we have not received any complaints related to fake banknotes,&rdquo; he said.
It&rsquo;s believed that there is an operation of moving fake currency within the market, business owners and citizens will need to take precautions and pay closer attention if they have received any counterfeit banknotes.

<a href="https://www.bnm.gov.my/documents/20124/39730/Guidelines-on-Currency-Quality-and-Handling-Suspected-Counterfeits-Dec2022.pdf">Bank Negara Malaysia's (BNM)</a> regulations on currency quality and suspected counterfeit currency handling stipulate that anyone caught with fake money and who does not cooperate with BNM, financial institutions, or registered currency processors (RCPs) may be guilty of an offence. They could face a maximum fine of RM20,000 if found guilty.
It&rsquo;s time to be cautious people. Malaysian MOAs, TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) are coming back to Kuala Lumpur! The K-pop boy group has confirmed a new Malaysia stop as part of their upcoming &ldquo;Steal The Wind&rdquo; World Tour, just months after making their first-ever appearance in the country.
TXT will return to Kuala Lumpur on 13 March 2027, giving Malaysian fans another chance to see Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai perform live.
The announcement comes after the group wrapped up their previous world tour with a Kuala Lumpur concert in February 2026, where they promised Malaysian MOAs that they would return. It looks like they really meant it.
Who Are TOMORROW X TOGETHER?

Musically, it combines an emotional vocal performance with an energetic Brazilian funk-inspired sound and prominent synths, creating a contrast between the song&rsquo;s upbeat production and its more melancholic theme.

Bad news for Post Malone fans in Malaysia &mdash; the singer&rsquo;s upcoming Kuala Lumpur concert has been postponed until further notice, alongside the wider Asian and Australasian leg of his The BIG Stadium Tour.
The Kuala Lumpur show was originally scheduled to take place at TM Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil on 27 September 2026, but Live Nation Malaysia has now confirmed that the concert will not go ahead as planned.
A new date has yet to be announced.
Post Malone Was Set To Perform In Kuala Lumpur This September

Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, was set to return to the region as part of his massive stadium tour.

His Kuala Lumpur concert was expected to be one of the year's biggest international music events, with fans looking forward to seeing the Grammy-nominated star perform live at Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil.
However, those plans have now been put on hold.

Live Nation Malaysia announced that Post Malone Presents The BIG Stadium Tour in Kuala Lumpur has been postponed.
The promoter said fans who purchased tickets through the authorised ticketing platform, GoLive Asia, will be entitled to a refund.
&ldquo;We regret to announce that Post Malone Presents The BIG Stadium Tour in Kuala Lumpur, scheduled for 27 September 2026 at TM Stadium Nasional, has been postponed.&rdquo;
Live Nation added that there is currently no confirmed replacement date and encouraged fans to follow Post Malone&rsquo;s official channels for future updates.
The wider postponement also affects other Asian and Australasian stops on the tour.
Fans Will Receive Full Ticket Refunds

For Malaysian ticket holders, Live Nation said refunds will be issued through the original payment method used to purchase the tickets.

Live Nation apologised to fans for the disruption, acknowledging that many had been looking forward to attending the concert. The promoter also stressed that fans should refer to the official refund communication for further instructions rather than relying on unofficial information circulating online.
The Entire Asian And Australasian Tour Has Been Postponed

The Kuala Lumpur cancellation is not an isolated change.
Post Malone&rsquo;s wider Asian and Australasian tour dates have also been postponed, affecting shows across several countries. The Asian leg was originally scheduled to begin in Hong Kong on 16 September before travelling to destinations including Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan.
The final Asian stop was scheduled for K-Arena Yokohama in Japan on 6 October.
The Australasian leg, meanwhile, was due to include concerts in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland, as well as appearances at several Australian festivals in October. Those dates have also been pushed back.
At this stage, organisers have not announced whether the postponed shows will receive completely new dates or whether the routing of the tour will be changed.
Don Toliver Was Also Supposed To Appear

However, shortly after Post Malone&rsquo;s tour promotional materials went up, Don Toliver announced his own tour plans, creating some confusion among fans over whether his upcoming dates would overlap with the postponed Post Malone shows.
With Post Malone&rsquo;s tour now on hold, it remains unclear whether Don Toliver will still be involved should the postponed dates eventually be rescheduled.
No New Kuala Lumpur Date Yet
For now, Malaysian fans will have to wait for further information from Live Nation and Post Malone&rsquo;s official channels.
The most immediate step is for ticket holders to watch out for their GoLive Asia refund email, with refunds to be processed through the original payment method.

Post Malone’s Kuala Lumpur Concert Postponed Until Further Notice, Fans To Receive Refunds

South Korea&rsquo;s popular holiday island of Jeju is facing growing scrutiny after four people who had previously been reported missing were found dead within just three days.
The discoveries have come amid a widening police scandal involving an officer who is accused of improperly closing missing-person cases without properly confirming the whereabouts or safety of those reported missing.
The situation has sparked public anger and renewed questions about how missing-person cases are handled in South Korea, with President Lee Jae Myung now calling for greater police accountability and reform.
Missing Woman Found 104 Days After Disappearance

One of the cases at the centre of the controversy involves 37-year-old Jang Mi-ran, who was reported missing in May.
Her case was allegedly closed by a police officer identified by the surname Bu, who reportedly told her family that he had contacted Jang and that she did not want her whereabouts disclosed.
Investigators later found no records supporting the officer's claim that he had spoken to her.
Jang's body was eventually discovered on 24 August, around 104 days after she disappeared, at a palm tree farm in Hallim-eup. The location was reportedly only around 400 metres from the accommodation where she had been staying.
Her remains were badly decomposed, meaning police were unable to identify her visually. Personal belongings, including a mobile phone and bracelet, as well as clothing believed to match what she was last wearing, helped investigators establish a preliminary identification.
An autopsy and forensic examinations are being carried out to confirm her identity and determine the cause and time of death.
Another Missing Man Also Found Dead

The same officer is also accused of improperly closing the missing-person case of a man in his 60s.
The man was reported missing in July, with his family later saying police had told them he was safe but did not wish to reveal his location. According to local reports, his family trusted the police's explanation and waited for him to return.
Instead, his body was found on 22 August, more than 50 days after he was reported missing. His family had filed another missing-person report after learning about Jang's case, prompting authorities to restart the search.
The man's son later expressed his frustration, saying the family had believed the police when they were told that his father was safe.
Two More Bodies Discovered On Jeju

Two other people reported missing were also found dead during the same period.
A person who had been reported missing was found near a valley in Aewol-eup on 24 August, while another man believed to be in his 70s was discovered in waters near Sinheung-ri the previous day.
The circumstances surrounding all four deaths remain under investigation.
Importantly, authorities have not linked the four deaths to one another, and there is currently no confirmed evidence that a serial killer or organised criminal group is operating on Jeju.
However, the unusual concentration of deaths, combined with the allegations against the police officer, has fuelled speculation and public anxiety online.
Officer Bu Accused Of Mishandling Hundreds Of Cases

Police are now reviewing 298 missing-person cases handled by Bu during roughly 17 months on Jeju.
He is accused of falsely claiming to have contacted missing individuals before closing their cases and removing them from the police missing-person profiling system.
Bu has denied the allegations, maintaining that he had contacted the two missing people whose cases are at the centre of the current investigation.
However, police said they have so far been unable to find records showing that those conversations took place.
He is facing allegations including dereliction of duty, falsifying and using official electronic records, and obstructing official duties by deception.
Four senior officers at Jeju Seobu Police Station have also been removed from their duties pending an internal investigation into whether there were failures in supervision and command.
South Korea Begins Wider Review

The controversy has now grown beyond Jeju.
South Korean authorities are reviewing whether similar problems may have occurred elsewhere, with police agencies in Seoul and Busan also examining previously closed missing-person reports.
The scrutiny comes as South Korea records tens of thousands of missing-person reports every year. Official figures show that more than 70,000 adults were reported missing in 2025, with the vast majority resolved within a month.
Experts have suggested that the high rate of quickly resolved cases may contribute to officers becoming less cautious when dealing with missing adults.
President Lee Calls For Police Reform

The scandal has reached the country's highest levels, with President Lee Jae Myung calling for stronger accountability within the police force.

The National Police Agency has since apologised over the handling of the cases and said it would strengthen safeguards for closing missing-person reports.
One proposed change would require senior officers to review the evidence and reasons for closing a case before it can officially be marked as resolved.
Jeju's Reputation Faces A New Challenge
Jeju is one of South Korea's most popular tourist destinations, known for its beaches, volcanic landscapes and quiet countryside.
The recent deaths, however, have prompted anxiety among some residents and tourists, with reports of people reconsidering or cancelling trips after the cases spread widely online.
While there is no evidence at present that Jeju is experiencing a wider wave of violent crime, the police scandal has nevertheless raised serious questions about public safety and the handling of vulnerable people.

Apple has officially confirmed the date for its next major iPhone launch event, and for Malaysian viewers, the event will take place on 10 September 2026 due to the time difference.

iPhone 18 Pro And Pro Max Expected

Rather than introducing a completely new design, the Pro models are expected to bring a number of refinements to the current generation. One reported change is a smaller Dynamic Island, which could give users more usable screen space.
New colour options are also rumoured, with Dark Cherry reportedly being considered as one of the headline finishes for the iPhone 18 Pro series.
As always, these specifications, colours and design changes remain rumours until Apple officially announces them.

For Malaysian Apple fans, the good news is that the wait may not be particularly long after the announcement.
Apple has historically included Malaysia among its earlier launch markets for new iPhones. Based on its previous release patterns, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could potentially be available for pre-order shortly after the event, followed by retail availability the following week.
However, Apple has yet to confirm the Malaysian pre-order or release dates.
The foldable iPhone could have a different launch timeline. Reports suggest Apple may unveil the device in September but release it later or only in selected markets due to production challenges.

TNG eWallet users now have another option when it comes to accessing financing, following a new partnership between TNG Digital and GXBank.
Through the integration, eligible users can now apply for GXBank FlexiCredit directly through the CashLoan feature in the TNG eWallet app, without having to open a separate GXBank bank account.
The move expands TNG eWallet&rsquo;s growing financial services ecosystem, giving its more than 27 million verified users access to another form of regulated financing through an app many already use for their daily transactions.
What Is GXBank FlexiCredit?

Unlike a conventional personal loan that gives you a fixed lump sum, FlexiCredit works as a revolving line of credit.
Once approved, users receive a credit limit of up to RM150,000, which they can draw from whenever they need it. Instead of borrowing the entire amount upfront, users only take out the money they require.
As the amount borrowed is repaid, the available credit limit is replenished, meaning users can access the remaining facility again without submitting a new application. GXBank says there are also no annual or processing fees, while interest is only charged on the amount actually drawn down.
Repayment periods range from six to 60 months, with flat interest rates starting from 3.78% per annum, equivalent to an effective interest rate of 6.45% per annum.
Apply Without Opening A New Bank Account

One of the main benefits of the new TNG eWallet integration is that eligible users do not need to open a separate GXBank account to apply.

Users can select their preferred credit limit and repayment tenure, provide their income information and complete the required identity verification. Depending on their employment status, supporting documents such as an EPF statement or bank statement may also be required.
TNG Digital and GXBank said the integration is aimed at making regulated financing more accessible, particularly for Malaysians who may have limited credit history or find traditional banking processes more difficult to navigate.
Who Can Apply For FlexiCredit?

However, approval is not guaranteed simply because someone meets the basic requirements.
The financing offer shown through CashLoan is determined based on the applicant's eligibility, requested amount and repayment period, as well as the bank's credit assessment and applicable regulatory requirements.

Approved users can then access their available credit through the CashLoan dashboard and draw down funds when needed.

A devastating flash flood and mudslide struck the Nepal-Tibet border on 26 August 2026, sweeping through villages, roads, bridges and infrastructure and leaving hundreds of people unaccounted for.

The disaster struck the mountainous Rasuwa district in northern Nepal, close to the border with Tibet.
A sudden surge of water, mud and rocks swept into the Bhote Koshi River, devastating areas including Syabrubesi and Timure. Homes, vehicles and bridges were washed away, while roads, communications and electricity infrastructure were severely damaged.
A major border crossing at Gyirong Port on the Tibetan side was also hit by a mudslide, cutting road access as well as communications and power links.
Dramatic footage from the affected areas showed torrents of muddy water carrying vehicles and debris, with bridges and buildings collapsing under the force of the flood.
What Caused The Flash Flood?

Initial reports suggested that a 4.4-magnitude earthquake may have triggered an avalanche of ice and rock, which then blocked the Lhende Khola river before sending a huge volume of water downstream.
However, further geological analysis has raised questions over whether an earthquake was actually responsible.
The US Geological Survey later said its analysis indicated that the seismic energy detected in the area was instead caused by a glacial collapse and debris flow, rather than an earthquake.
Experts from the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development have similarly pointed to a rock-and-ice avalanche in Nepal that may have blocked the river and caused the cascading flood.
The exact sequence of events is still being investigated.
17 Malaysians Among Hundreds Missing

The Nepal Tourism Board reported that 384 travellers, including 291 foreign nationals and 93 Nepalis, had been reported missing from the affected areas.
The missing foreigners include 17 Malaysians, more than 100 Indians, 12 Britons, four South Africans, three Americans, an Australian and a Dutch national.
The Malaysian Foreign Ministry said its embassy in Kathmandu was coordinating with local authorities to locate affected Malaysians and establish their safety.
Because roads and communication networks in the region have been heavily damaged, authorities are facing difficulties confirming the whereabouts of those who remain uncontactable.
Families trying to trace Malaysian travellers have been advised to provide relevant passport and travel details to the Malaysian Embassy for coordination with authorities.
Rescue Efforts Hampered By Difficult Conditions

Nepal has deployed police, military personnel and rescue teams to the affected areas, but the terrain and weather have made operations extremely difficult.

The concern comes from a remaining blockage upstream, which experts believe could release another sudden surge of water if it collapses. China has also launched a major rescue operation around Gyirong Port, with hundreds of personnel and emergency vehicles deployed to search for missing people.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for an all-out effort to locate survivors and strengthen monitoring and early warning systems to prevent further disasters.
India And Other Countries Offer Assistance

The disaster has also prompted support from neighbouring countries.
India is coordinating with Nepal on rescue and relief operations and has deployed aircraft carrying emergency supplies and medical equipment. Helicopters have also been earmarked for rescue and evacuation efforts.
Other countries, including South Korea, have offered assistance as authorities work to account for their citizens in the affected region.
The scale of the disaster has also prompted flood alerts downstream in India's Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, as rivers flowing from the Himalayas continue to rise.
A Region Already Vulnerable To Floods

The region has experienced similar disasters before. Last year, flooding along the Bhote Koshi River killed people and destroyed a bridge connecting Nepal and China, disrupting transport and trade.
Rescue Operation Continues
The full scale of the devastation is still emerging, with authorities working to verify the number of missing and dead.
For the families of the 17 Malaysians and hundreds of other missing travellers, the immediate priority remains locating their loved ones.
With roads destroyed, communications disrupted and another possible flood threat hanging over the region, rescue teams in Nepal and Tibet are continuing their efforts under extremely challenging conditions.
