Music Festivals

Do you know what season it is in Malaysia right now? No, we ain&rsquo;t talking about the weather but about events going on. Right now, it&rsquo;s concert szn in Malaysia and we have a wide variety of artists coming down to town!
From solo artists, bands, and K-pop artists to even music festivals, we kinda have it all! But it looks like we have some bad news for foreign artists.
The Central Committee for Application of Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes (PUSPAL) introduced new guidelines in a document which was published back in 2019. The updated ruling has both imposed stricter conditions and loosened some conditions of live performances in Malaysia. Let&rsquo;s check out some of the new rules:
Concerts Can No Longer Be Held Before Islamic Public Holidays
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/1c0dfd98b6590f3c997159197859269cd13a85c0b861089abfaa2b0513018db1" />
One of the new rulings stated that performances will no longer be allowed on certain dates and events close to Islamic Holidays. The specific holidays cover concerts that are held during Ramadan, Awal Muharram, Maulidur Rasul, Israk Mikraj, Nisfu Sya&rsquo;ban, Nuzul Al-Quran, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha. The only exception of a concert being held during these holidays is if the organizers get clearance from the &ldquo;respective Islamic authorities&rdquo;.
The previous 2019 ruling only stated that artists are barred during the fasting month but did not restrict shows on the eve of Islamic public holidays. The old rules also stated that artists could not perform between 25 August to 16 September as a symbol of respecting Merdeka and Malaysia Day. This time shows will only be barred on 30-31 August and 15-16 September.
Male Artists Banned From Crossdressing
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/69d52bd6e15666319dbb03aee04de016a6f95e868ce51ab10e9621abc483e655" />
In Malaysia, the dress code for artists both male and female have been pretty strict over the years and we always see many artists dress modestly compared to their shows overseas. This time around, the dress code also affects males as they are now prohibited from &ldquo;dressing up and wearing clothes that cause them to resemble women&rdquo;.
As for Female artists, PUSPAL has also added that female foreign artists are now prohibited from wearing clothes that &ldquo;widely expose the chest area&rdquo; or are &ldquo;too high above the knee&rdquo;.
New Guidelines For Production Crew
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/8f94e6b53545973185aa8dd68f916a97b043d3ae80480dbefc56f2a2e8080494" />
Many of us know that when we can&rsquo;t experience a concert, we tend to watch clips of concerts online such as an &ldquo;after movie&rdquo; so we can live the experience of the concert from our homes. This time, foreign production crews who intend to film content in Malaysia will be required to submit a script to PUSPAL for approval before giving the green light.
The crew who have been found guilty of filming content that contradicts government policies and damages the reputation of the country will be disallowed from filming.
When Will The New Rules Be Set?
According to Communications and Digital Minister, Fahmi Fadzil, all stakeholders have been consulted on the new rulings and they will only be enforced in 2024. Further engagements with the stakeholders will be done and he says another update will be made to the guidelines before its implementation.
By the looks of the ruling, it&rsquo;s pretty understandable and many artists who came to Malaysia had so far respected the ruling. Hopefully, there won&rsquo;t be much trouble from it, especially from a certain political party.

Putrajaya has introduced a new way to get around the administrative capital, with an autonomous electric bus now carrying passengers for just RM1 per trip.
The new service officially began operations on 7 October 2026, operating under Putrajaya's Nadiputra public bus network. The autonomous electric bus serves Route P113, connecting MRT Putrajaya Sentral with several key government and administrative locations before returning to the MRT station.
The service is operated in collaboration with Handal Indah and Malaysian autonomous driving technology company eMooVit Technology, giving members of the public an opportunity to experience self-driving electric public transport as part of an actual passenger service.
Where Does The Putrajaya Autonomous Bus Go?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/f0c482fcc290cebbba907d067f898a47ec7877bab06e92f990f9c6f731701a38" />
The P113 autonomous electric bus operates as a loop, beginning and ending at MRT Putrajaya Sentral.
The route covers six stops:
<ol>
<li>MRT Putrajaya Sentral</li>
<li>Kementerian Kewangan (Ministry of Finance)</li>
<li>Istana Kehakiman (Palace of Justice)</li>
<li>Kementerian Belia &amp; Sukan (Ministry of Youth and Sports)</li>
<li>Dataran Gemilang</li>
<li>Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPJ)</li>
</ol>
After stopping at Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya, the bus returns to MRT Putrajaya Sentral.
This makes the service particularly useful for passengers travelling between the MRT station and several major government offices and administrative hubs in Putrajaya.
Unlike previous autonomous vehicle demonstrations, the new service is now operating on a public transport route and carrying passengers as part of its operations.
When Does The Autonomous Bus Operate?
&nbsp;<img src="https://r2.myc.my/3532617084dc60fa3b94ff9724dc68f7ba57dc8887e69fc99ec8b7d785b9818d" />
The P113 autonomous bus does not operate continuously throughout the day. It currently runs from Monday to Friday, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Departures from MRT Putrajaya Sentral are scheduled at the following times:
Morning
<ul>
<li>7.15am</li>
<li>8.15am</li>
<li>9.15am</li>
<li>10.15am</li>
</ul>
Afternoon
<ul>
<li>2.45pm</li>
<li>3.45pm</li>
<li>4.45pm</li>
<li>5.45pm</li>
</ul>
Passengers should also take note that the published departure and arrival times are subject to prevailing traffic conditions.
With a significant gap between the morning and afternoon services, passengers planning to try the autonomous bus should check the timetable before heading to Putrajaya Sentral rather than expecting the bus to operate throughout the day.
How Much Does The Putrajaya Autonomous Bus Cost?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/de6d9eeadbd4bf864466d3a892194435cccdd4001f14a09c7f1344efbdba7f00" />
The fare is RM1 per one-way trip, making it an affordable option for anyone who wants to experience the new autonomous public transport service.
However, passengers should pay attention to the available payment methods before boarding.
The official service announcement specifies cashless payment using Visa and Mastercard debit or credit cards.
At present, Touch 'n Go and My50 are not listed as supported payment methods for the P113 autonomous bus. While this does not necessarily confirm that these options cannot be used, passengers are advised to bring a Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card to avoid payment issues.
How Does The Self-Driving Bus Work?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/4f8f924be187ef736b5346fd320df8327d39d0c07f3a32c4dc45601ccac94fb0" />
The autonomous electric bus uses a combination of technologies to detect its surroundings and navigate the road.
These include LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensors, radar, cameras and ultrasonic sensors, which allow the vehicle to monitor its environment and identify objects around it.
eMooVit Technology has previously carried out autonomous bus demonstrations and pilot programmes in locations including Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and the Sunway BRT corridor.
The company has also been developing autonomous electric bus technology for several years, with its vehicles undergoing various testing and demonstration runs before the latest service began carrying passengers.
Although the bus is designed to operate autonomously, it also appears to have provisions for human intervention if required during more serious or unusual situations.
Is The Putrajaya Autonomous Bus A Permanent Service?
&nbsp;<img src="https://r2.myc.my/7e8a53c2e077e38af44f767fb9f6b04912c6d6926993c5e22c5b6a28a702e00b" />
It remains unclear whether the P113 autonomous electric bus will become a permanent fixture of Putrajaya's public transport network.
However, official records indicate that Perbadanan Putrajaya previously issued a tender for an autonomous electric bus service with an 18-month duration. The tender was subsequently awarded to Handal Indah, with a final value of approximately RM779,770.
This suggests the current service is part of a longer-term operational trial rather than simply a short demonstration.
The introduction of the P113 route also gives Putrajaya an opportunity to assess how autonomous electric buses perform in real-world public transport conditions, including their reliability, passenger demand and ability to operate alongside regular road traffic.
Putrajaya's Autonomous Bus At A Glance
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/28615253974d6a55ab2cc1e71167ef0d2ceba344c8d0ad24de39624b15e0c71a" />
For those planning to give the new service a try, here are the key details:
<ul>
<li>Service: Autonomous electric bus</li>
<li>Route: P113</li>
<li>Starting point: MRT Putrajaya Sentral</li>
<li>Fare: RM1 per trip</li>
<li>Operating days: Monday to Friday</li>
<li>No service: Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays</li>
<li>Morning departures: 7.15am, 8.15am, 9.15am and 10.15am</li>
<li>Afternoon departures: 2.45pm, 3.45pm, 4.45pm and 5.45pm</li>
<li>Payment: Visa or Mastercard debit/credit cards</li>
<li>Key technology: LiDAR, radar, cameras and ultrasonic sensors</li>
<li>Operators/partners: Handal Indah and eMooVit Technology</li>
</ul>
With fares starting at just RM1, the new Putrajaya autonomous electric bus offers Malaysians a relatively affordable opportunity to experience driverless public transport in a real-world setting.
For now, its limited operating hours mean passengers will need to plan their journey around the scheduled departures. However, the service could provide an important step towards introducing more autonomous and electric public transport in Malaysia, particularly as cities look for cleaner and smarter ways to move people.

Putrajaya Launches New Autonomous Electric Bus Service For RM1 Per Trip

Malaysians can now access a new savings and protection plan directly through ShopeePay following an expanded partnership between ShopeePay Malaysia and Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad (ZLIMB).
The new Zurich Savings &amp; Protection Plan combines savings with life and disability protection, giving users a way to build their financial future while receiving additional coverage. The two-year plan currently starts from a single premium of RM500, with the minimum entry amount set to be lowered to RM100 in the near future.
The partnership was officially launched in Kuala Lumpur on 7 October 2026 under the theme &ldquo;Everyday Protection, Made For All&rdquo;, marking the first time ShopeePay's digital distribution partnership with Zurich has extended to its life insurance business.
What Does The Zurich Savings &amp; Protection Plan Offer?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/02d8fdee262be6b2445a734c559a9c007eed48e7b28876a54e5e86c1b9cf1734" />
The Zurich Savings &amp; Protection Plan is a two-year, single-premium endowment plan designed to combine savings growth with life protection.
One of its key features is guaranteed cash payouts every six months, allowing policyholders to receive regular payments throughout the two-year period. The plan also provides life and disability protection equivalent to 105% of the premium paid, with the benefit payable to the policyholder or beneficiaries according to the terms of the policy.
At the end of the two-year maturity period, policyholders receive 100% principal protection, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
There are also flexible early cash-out options for those who may need access to their money before the plan reaches maturity. However, the amount received through an early cash-out may differ from the maturity benefit, so customers should review the relevant terms before purchasing.
How To Purchase The Plan On ShopeePay
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/8d9b3b8f382f3a162388fedb4e0ec88f82a040875e60c04fc2328acdf87b31af" />
The Zurich Savings &amp; Protection Plan is available directly through the ShopeePay app, allowing users to access the product digitally without having to visit an insurance branch.
To find the plan, users can open the ShopeePay app and select &ldquo;Insurance&rdquo; from the homepage, followed by &ldquo;Endowment&rdquo;.
The launch expands ShopeePay's existing relationship with Zurich. The platform already works with Zurich General Insurance Malaysia Berhad and Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Berhad, but this is the first time its digital distribution partnership has extended to Zurich's life insurance arm.
It also builds on the earlier availability of Zurich Critical Illness insurance through the platform.
Entry Premium To Be Lowered To RM100
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/41239d4b6ec3e4396504fea8aac52d5404aaf336d4b389c532e5e6030b04823c" />
The plan currently requires a minimum premium of RM500, but Zurich and ShopeePay are planning to reduce this to RM100.
While the lower entry point has not yet been implemented, it could make the product more accessible to Malaysians who want to start building financial protection with a smaller initial commitment.
Both companies said the broader goal is to make insurance and financial protection more accessible through digital platforms that consumers already use in their everyday lives.
Junior Cho, Country CEO of Zurich Malaysia, highlighted that Malaysia's protection gap is closely linked to accessibility, saying insurers need to reach consumers where they already are rather than expecting them to seek out traditional channels.
Family Takaful Plans Coming Next Year
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/ce24b27f03d837ea0488d1e9954160c6552ede6a05201dc8e2d393731223dbe1" />
The partnership is also expected to expand into family takaful in 2027.
ShopeePay and Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad plan to introduce family takaful products through the platform, giving users access to Syariah-compliant protection alongside conventional insurance options.
Family takaful provides life and financial protection based on Syariah principles, offering Malaysians another option when planning for their long-term financial needs.
Zurich Savings &amp; Protection Plan At A Glance
For those considering the new product, here are the key details:
<ul>
<li>Minimum premium: RM500</li>
<li>Planned future minimum: RM100</li>
<li>Plan duration: Two years</li>
<li>Payment structure: Single premium</li>
<li>Guaranteed cash payouts: Every six months</li>
<li>Life and disability protection: 105% of premium paid</li>
<li>Principal protection at maturity: 100%</li>
<li>Early cash-out: Available, subject to the plan's terms</li>
<li>Available on: ShopeePay app</li>
<li>Access: Insurance &rarr; Endowment</li>
<li>PIDM protection: Benefits are protected by PIDM, subject to applicable limits</li>
</ul>
With the new Zurich Savings &amp; Protection Plan, ShopeePay is expanding beyond everyday payments and general insurance into life insurance, giving Malaysians another digital option to combine savings and financial protection.
The planned RM100 entry point and upcoming family takaful offerings could further widen access to financial protection, although customers should always review the product's terms, benefits and conditions before committing.

ShopeePay And Zurich Launch Two-Year Savings And Protection Plan From RM500

Good news, MYDAYs &mdash; we finally have more details about Young K&rsquo;s upcoming solo concert in Kuala Lumpur.
Earlier in July, we shared that DAY6&rsquo;s bassist and singer-songwriter would be bringing his solo tour to Malaysia, and now fans have the full details to look forward to. Young K Solo Tour &lt;YOUNGEST&gt; in KUALA LUMPUR will take place on 20 March 2027 (Saturday) at Idea Live Arena, with the concert promoted by Live Nation Malaysia.
The newly announced ticket prices range from RM388 to RM888, giving Malaysian fans several options to choose from when tickets go on sale this October.
Who Is Young K?

The Kuala Lumpur concert is part of Young K&rsquo;s YOUNGEST era, named after his second full-length solo album, which was released on 27 July 2026.
The album features 15 tracks, with Young K participating in the writing and composition of all 15 songs. Its title track, &ldquo;Shut The Door&rdquo;, presents a more personal side of the singer-songwriter, with the album exploring the honest emotions and questions he has encountered throughout different stages of his life.
Rather than being centred around one particular sound, YOUNGEST showcases Young K&rsquo;s versatility as a solo musician, moving between rock, pop and more introspective moments while keeping his songwriting at the heart of the album.
With the album now available to stream and the YOUNGEST tour making its way across Asia, Malaysian MYDAYs have plenty of time to get familiar with the songs before Young K takes the stage in Kuala Lumpur.
Young K&rsquo;s YOUNGEST solo concert in Kuala Lumpur takes place on 20 March 2027 &mdash; so MYDAYs, it&rsquo;s time to get those tickets ready.

Young K Brings His YOUNGEST Solo Tour To Kuala Lumpur In March 2027

Motorists in Malaysia can no longer use MyEG or Zetrix AI for certain JPJ payment services after the Road Transport Department (JPJ) suspended both companies as its collection agents effective 5 October 2026.
The suspension follows an outstanding RM314 million in government revenue collected by MyEG Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Bhd that had not been transferred to the Ministry of Transport&rsquo;s (MOT) main revenue account.
However, Transport Minister Anthony Loke has assured motorists that the suspension will not affect the delivery of JPJ services, with alternative channels still available for renewing driving licences and road tax, paying summonses and handling other JPJ-related transactions.
Why Did JPJ Suspend MyEG And Zetrix AI?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/2077c722e77adc4633d0f23523cefc9e44bd8d42ca9b6d9f355107988092c2bc" />
According to Loke, the RM314 million in outstanding government revenue accumulated between 19 May and 30 September 2026.
The minister also clarified that the outstanding amount did not accumulate over three years, as had been reported in some quarters. Instead, the current RM314 million in arrears began building up in May this year.
Prior to the suspension, MOT and JPJ had taken several steps to recover the outstanding revenue. These included issuing 35 reminder notices, setting deadlines for payment and holding four engagement sessions with the companies and other relevant stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance.
The companies had also submitted a post-dated cheque worth RM231 million on 21 August, intended to settle the amount owed at that time. However, when the cheque was presented on 30 September, it was not processed by the bank following instructions from the company.
As a result, JPJ proceeded with the suspension of MyEG and Zetrix AI's services from 12.01am on 5 October.
Loke said the suspension will remain in place until the full outstanding amount has been settled, after which the government will consider whether the services should resume. The government is also preparing to take legal action to recover the full RM314 million.
Can You Still Renew Your Road Tax And Driving Licence?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/6e125374d56e2c9fa43ddb2455b04cb34d1a3bc7947166e4385c46efa32015cd" />
Yes you can but not via the systems. The suspension of MyEG and Zetrix AI does not mean that Malaysians can no longer renew their road tax or driving licences.
Motorists can continue using official JPJ channels, including the MyJPJ app, JPJ Public Portal, physical JPJ counters and JPJ kiosks.
This means motorists who normally rely on MyEG for routine transactions will need to switch to one of these alternative platforms while the suspension remains in place.
For those who prefer handling their transactions digitally, the MyJPJ application and JPJ Public Portal provide alternatives without requiring a visit to a physical counter.
Alternative Ways To Pay JPJ Summonses
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/3ccf3850caeffca51d2ba84b9c47b3f3b4845f23b3babe2c589bd510a7eb0cba" />
The suspension also affects payment services provided through MyEG and Zetrix AI, but JPJ summonses can still be paid through other official channels.
For non-Malaysians travelling through the Malaysia-Singapore border, JPJ is also providing additional assistance through mobile counters in Johor.
The Mobile JPJ Counters at Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar will operate from 8am to 10pm, allowing non-Malaysians to settle traffic summonses at the country's main southern entry points.
KPP01 Theory Test Services Continue
&nbsp;<img src="https://r2.myc.my/ca4bb7a7e9f54a820309e5f250962b402ebfa0a24400cf423235d117925d78f8" />
The changes also cover the computerised KPP01 Theory Test for driving licence candidates.
Instead of relying on centres previously operated through MyEG, candidates can now take the computerised theory test directly through 85 approved driving institutes authorised by JPJ.
This means candidates can continue with their driving licence process despite the suspension of MyEG and Zetrix AI's services.
Government To Recover RM314 Million
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/c429995b99e50210d44b9b64ab98c9da6b4c01fb9cb45f6aebb6c89ed7b8e7d6" />
Loke has stressed that MyEG and Zetrix AI acted as collection agents and that the money collected through these services belongs to the government.
The government therefore intends to recover the full RM314 million through appropriate legal action. Loke also dismissed claims that the suspension was politically motivated, saying the decision was based on the outstanding government revenue and the companies' failure to fulfil their obligations.
He added that the government has provisions to terminate the agreement if necessary and that there would be no question of compensation if the contract is ended due to non-compliance.
Questions Raised Over Government Oversight
Beyond the immediate impact on JPJ services, the RM314 million arrears have also raised questions about financial controls and government oversight.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said the issue goes beyond the outstanding payment itself, questioning how such a large amount could accumulate despite repeated reminders and engagement sessions.
The PAC has also raised concerns about the monitoring mechanisms in place for third-party collection agents and whether the government's interests and public funds were sufficiently protected.
Malaysia Corruption Watch similarly called for a transparent review of the collection and remittance process, particularly given the 35 reminder notices and the RM231 million cheque that was not processed.
For motorists, however, the immediate takeaway is simple: MyEG and Zetrix AI are no longer available for JPJ payment services, but road tax renewals, driving licence renewals, summons payments and other JPJ-related transactions can still be carried out through alternative official channels.

No More MyEG For JPJ Payments: Here’s How To Renew Your Licence And Road Tax

Everyone knows that Formula 1 drivers are some of the ultimate athletes in motorsport. Behind the wheel of an F1 car travelling at more than 300km/h, drivers need exceptional stamina, strength, concentration and mental resilience to cope with the physical demands of a Grand Prix.
And then there is everyone&rsquo;s favourite Finnish racing driver, Valtteri Bottas, who appears to be taking his fitness routine to another level ahead of this weekend&rsquo;s Singapore Grand Prix.
Instead of taking the usual flight or travelling by car with the rest of the F1 paddock, the 37-year-old Cadillac Formula 1 driver has decided to cycle around 350km from Sepang, Malaysia, to Singapore.
Yes, you read that right. After finishing his Malaysian Grand Prix weekend early, Bottas swapped four wheels for two and began a multi-day cycling adventure towards the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
From Sepang To Singapore On Two Wheels

Bottas began his journey on Sunday evening, just hours after retiring from the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit.
The 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix was held in Malaysia as a one-off replacement for the original Bahrain race, bringing F1 back to Sepang for the first time since 2017. However, Bottas' race was unfortunately cut short on Lap 9.
The Cadillac driver had opted to start on slick tyres despite the wet conditions, but the gamble failed to pay off when he spun into the gravel and was forced to retire.
Rather than heading straight to the airport for the short journey to Singapore, Bottas got on his gravel bike and began riding south.

His first recorded stage covered 56.6km in just over two hours, with his cycling activity labelled "Malaysia to Singapore Day 1" on Strava. He travelled from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport area towards Port Dickson, with parts of the route taking him through gravel tracks and rural areas.
The following day, Bottas reportedly covered another 161.91km over nearly six hours, putting a significant portion of the 350km journey behind him.
He is expected to complete the trip over three days and arrive in Singapore in time for his mandatory media commitments on Thursday, ahead of practice for the Singapore Grand Prix on Friday.

While most F1 drivers will be travelling between the two countries by plane, Bottas has been spotted cycling through Malaysia, including some rather unusual routes.
One video shared by Bottas showed him riding through a dark, narrow path with only the light from his bicycle illuminating the way ahead. The route appeared to pass through a palm oil plantation, prompting plenty of reactions from Malaysian social media users.
Other motorists and cyclists have also reported spotting the F1 driver on the road.
One sighting showed Bottas riding through the Sungei Udang area in Melaka, roughly 245km from Singapore. He was also spotted riding alongside another cyclist, believed to be his partner and professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell.
For many Malaysians, seeing an F1 driver casually cycling through rural roads and plantations at night is certainly not something you see every day.
Cycling Is A Serious Part Of Bottas' Life
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/e788adaa4b6c68939c67935a16fd681d1211aea2dabcfa34d1d3c97525c0d879" />
While the journey might sound extreme to the average person, cycling is far from a random hobby for Bottas.
The Finnish driver has developed a strong passion for cycling and gravel racing over the years, regularly using long-distance rides as part of his physical conditioning as well as a way to unwind away from Formula 1.
Bottas has competed in several high-level gravel events and has even achieved podium finishes at races such as SBT Gravel and Belgium Waffle Ride. He is also closely involved with FNLD GRVL, a gravel cycling event held in his native Finland.
Earlier this year, Bottas also qualified for the UCI Gravel World Championships after finishing fifth in his age group at a qualifying event in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, the World Championships clash with the Singapore Grand Prix, meaning he will not be able to compete.
His partner, Tiffany Cromwell, is also an accomplished professional road and gravel cyclist, making cycling a shared passion for the couple.
"When I Miss Racing, Then I Race On My Bicycle"
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/ed66044d0d383b5bdd22ecec04b73683c87c43bc428cebcbd5a1593e1e228077" />
For Bottas, cycling is not simply another way to stay fit during the F1 season.
He has previously explained that getting on a bike helps him both physically and mentally, describing it as a way to clear his head and relieve stress.
&ldquo;When I&rsquo;m on my bike, I gain cardio, but I also use the bike almost like a stress release,&rdquo; Bottas has said.
He also sees cycling as another way to challenge himself when he is away from the F1 cockpit.
In another interview, he explained his appreciation for cycling by pointing out that, unlike a racing car, the cyclist is the engine and the machine.
That mindset perhaps explains why a 350km journey between two Grands Prix does not seem quite as ridiculous to Bottas as it might to everyone else.
A Different Kind Of Reset Before Singapore
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/c02dd9659ca6a9162fa77bb17aafce62c377f3818ef000d7ffc4b8618f93bf9f" />
Bottas' unusual journey comes after a difficult start to his return to full-time Formula 1 racing.
After spending the 2025 season as a reserve driver, he returned to the grid in 2026 with the new Cadillac F1 team alongside Sergio Perez. However, the team's debut season has been challenging, with Cadillac yet to score a championship point.
Bottas' difficult weekend in Malaysia continued that run of form, with his race ending after just nine laps following his gamble on slick tyres.
Now, instead of simply moving from one hotel to another, he is getting several hundred kilometres of cycling into his legs before arriving at one of the most physically demanding races on the F1 calendar.
The Singapore Grand Prix is known for its heat, humidity and demanding Marina Bay Street Circuit, with drivers facing a long night race under the lights.
Whether the 350km ride will leave Bottas refreshed or completely exhausted remains to be seen.
But one thing is certain: while the rest of the F1 paddock is taking the conventional route from Malaysia to Singapore, Valtteri Bottas is quite literally taking the long way there.
