<p>Thinking of skipping out on the traffic jams and using public transport to get to work? Well, it looks like Malaysians can now plan their journey to work more smoothly now as the new MRT Putrajaya Line has just opened their services to the public.</p>

<p>The best part about this is that the newly launched line will be free till 31<sup>st</sup> March as stated by Prime Minster Anwar Ibrahim who wants to prioritise public transportation during the next annual federal budget.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Next year will be for transport because people lose productivity thanks to traffic congestion,&rdquo; he stated.</p>
<p><strong>Get To Know The New MRT Line!</strong></p>
<p>The new MRT line is the country&rsquo;s second MRT line following the completion of Phase 2 of their project. It had a built cost of RM30.53 million which stretches 57.7KM and has 36 stations which span from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya Sentral.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">There are a total of 10 stops which allow connecting stations and interchange stations across Kuala Lumpur and it's said that the line will be serving up to 104,000 commuters daily.</p>

<p>If you&rsquo;re up for an adventure and would like to experience the full MRT experience, a one-way trip will take around 1 Hour and 30 Minutes as the trains run every 4-6 minutes during peak hours, 7-10 minutes during non-peak hours and 7-15 minutes on weekends and public holidays.</p>

<p>Fun fact, the new trains are called &ldquo;Ducky&rdquo;. If it isn&rsquo;t obvious enough, it&rsquo;s because the new train looks like it has a duckbill. Commuters should also be stress-free now as the new train is capable of carrying 1,200 passengers at a time.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This time around, for those wanting to utilize public transport will not need to worry about the parking situation as there are a total of 6,416 parking bays available across 17 stations.</p>

<p>Now for the cost, as public transport is supposed to help ease commuters, MRT users can enjoy a flat rate of RM4.30 if they use the same Touch &lsquo;n Go used for parking and riding the train on the same day. However, do note that there will be a maximum charge of RM16.10 for commuters who do not tap their card by the end of the day.</p>

<p>In a recent update on X (formerly Twitter), Khairul Aming announced that updated standard operating procedures (SOPs) now permit him to begin his relief efforts earlier in the day, starting at 1 PM. Previously, he was restricted to delivering food and other supplies only after 6 PM.</p>
<p>So far, Khairul has extended aid to over 7,000 flood victims across 17 critical locations in Kelantan, his hometown. In an earlier post, he outlined his flood relief plan, sharing details on where volunteers and donors can contribute. He encouraged the public to drop off supplies such as ready-to-eat meals, clothing, blankets, personal care items, and more to support those in need.</p>
<p>In an update on his X account, Khairul Aming shared that relief efforts for 7,000 victims at the temporary relief centre (PPS) in SK Pengkalan Kubor 2 have been successfully completed.</p>

<p>A 23-year-old university student has raised concerns about an unexpected RM5 charge she encountered when collecting her renewed passport, which she had already paid for online. The incident occurred at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) in Galleri@Kotaraya, Johor Bahru, on November 26.</p>
<p>The student, who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed that a female immigration officer handed her the passport and requested an additional RM5 payment. Unprepared for the charge, the student explained she didn&rsquo;t have cash on hand and was instructed to pay via a QR code. To her surprise, the transaction revealed that the money was directed to a personal bank account instead of an official government account.</p>
<p>"I was slightly dazed as I believed all payments were already settled online," the student said. She noted that she hadn&rsquo;t requested the plastic cover included with her passport and wasn&rsquo;t informed about the fee beforehand.</p>
<p>Although the RM5 amount was minimal, the student emphasized her stance against any misuse of power or malpractice, regardless of the sum involved.</p>

<p>A group of eight Malaysians has filed a class action lawsuit seeking RM60 million in damages against the Malaysian government, the World Health Organization (WHO), and 23 other high-profile defendants.
