<p>Over the weekend, the internet has been talking non-stop about the Met Gala. For those who don&rsquo;t know, the Met Gala has been around since 1984 and has now become a much-loved annual celebration of fashion.</p>
<p>The Met Gala is also considered a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art&rsquo;s Costume Institute and it has always been timed to mark the opening of its annual fashion exhibition. As the years go by, the gala has never failed to raise up to an eight-figure sum for the event.</p>

<p>The 2023 Met Gala's theme is "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," a tribute to the late and renowned designer who passed away in 2019. The exhibition is overseen by Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute curator, who states that it will not be a typical retrospective. Meanwhile, Amanda Harlech, a former close collaborator with Lagerfeld, serves as the show's creative consultant. Appropriately, this year's Met Gala has a dress code that pays homage to Karl, with many attendees expected to draw from his extensive archives at brands like Chanel, Fendi, Chlo&eacute;, Balmain, Patou, and his own eponymous label.</p>
<p><strong>Jared Leto Steals The Spotlight</strong></p>
<p>While many were amazed at the outfits of all the celebrities, Jared Leto took it to the next level and was definitely one to stick out from the crowd. In fact, many would say he&rsquo;s the true winner of the Met Gala.</p>

<p>Leto came dressed as Choupette, Lagerfeld&rsquo;s cat which was left a $1.6 million (~RM7.13 million) will after the passing of Lagerfeld. His costume matched the real-life Choupette&rsquo;s piercing blue eyes and brown and pink nose.</p>
<p>According to a report by the Guardian, the costume was a major secret and was kept in one locked room throughout the build. It was also worked on by a smaller than usual team as they wanted to prevent it from leaking. Leto had aimed to keep his identity a secret while at the Gala before revealing himself to the crowd.</p>

<p>The designers also noted that it was a challenge to make the costume as hyper-realistic as possible with Leto &ldquo;pushing it to look like a real cat&rdquo;. Countless of hours of sketching and digital sculpting had gone into the design work based on photos of Choupette that were seen online.</p>
<p>Choupette had also gone through different face changes over the years. Normally, Choupette will look angry but Leto had asked the designers to make it a little softer and cuter instead. When new images appear online such as the time Kim Kardashian was in Paris and hung out with Choupette, the designers rushed to work trying to get its latest looks.</p>

<p>The hardest bit of their costume was that Leto needed the ability to remove the costume quickly and reveal his second outfit, a black cloak. The costume had breakaway seam lines hidden in the fut at the back which enabled him to get out quickly unlike the usual long process of taking such costumes apart.</p>

<p>Leto had photobombed his WeCrashed co-star as he revealed himself under the costume behind Hathaway and later greeted one another with a hug. On a side note, Hathaway despite being 41 is still looking young as if she&rsquo;s in her 20&rsquo;s when rocking her dress at the 2023 Met Gala.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">After being in the costume for a while, Leto later got out of his cat costume to reveal a stunning black cloak look. He later met up with &lsquo;The Tonight Show&rsquo; host, Jimmy Fallon who kissed the cat&rsquo;s face as Leto carried it around the carpet.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Fallon said that he was fantastic and excited for the Gala and later joked that he needed a Zyrtec as he was allergic to cats.&nbsp;</p>
