As the #NoFOMOChallenge campaign is coming to an end, we have the pleasure of having local singer Nicole Lai Chung Fung with us today at Help University Subang. During her visit, Nicole greeted the college and university freshies and openly shared her experiences of navigating her daily routine while juggling a vibrant social life. We all know that as a university student, finding that balance can be quite a challenge. Nicole's insights shed light on how she handles it all, making her visit truly relatable and inspiring for everyone present.
For those who may be unfamiliar with our local music scene, let us introduce you to Nicole Lai, a renowned singer who started off by joining 8TV&rsquo;s 'Absolute Superstar' competition in Malaysia, where she achieved an impressive 2nd place in 2008. Her talent and dedication further shone in 2012 when she triumphed in the 'Astro Star Quest,' marking a significant milestone in her singing career. Demonstrating her prowess on an international stage, Nicole represented Malaysia in the esteemed 'Chinese Million Star' talent show held in Taiwan, securing an impressive 3rd place in the competition.
Building on her achievements, Nicole released her debut Mandarin EP titled 'The One Who Loves Me' in 2013, which has garnered over 688K hits. Her captivating music and undeniable talent have solidified her position as a beloved artist in the hearts of many music enthusiasts.

TNG eWallet Launches Principal PRS, Enabling Users To Start Retirement Savings With Just RM100

A group of eight Malaysians has filed a class action lawsuit seeking RM60 million in damages against the Malaysian government, the World Health Organization (WHO), and 23 other high-profile defendants. The plaintiffs claim that they suffered severe health complications, including deaths, as a result of the COVID-19 vaccinations administered during the pandemic. This lawsuit, filed on 23 October 2024 by Messrs Mohamad Zainuddin &amp; Co, draws attention to the contentious handling of the pandemic by government authorities and international bodies.
Allegations of Negligence and Inadequate Research

The plaintiffs have named several key figures in the legal action, including WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, former prime ministers Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, and Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, along with his predecessors Dr. Adham Baba and Khairy Jamaluddin. Also named in the lawsuit are Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, former Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, and even the current and former inspectors-general of police.
The plaintiffs allege that the Malaysian government acted negligently by implementing policies based on WHO&rsquo;s declaration of COVID-19 as a global health emergency. They argue that the government failed to conduct adequate research into the virus and the safety of vaccines, accusing them of pushing "toxic experimental vaccines" on the public. According to the plaintiffs, the government was reckless in accepting what they term the "false pandemic" narrative and enforced policies like the Movement Control Order (MCO) without proper investigation. Furthermore, they allege that full disclosure was not provided to the public regarding the risks associated with the vaccines.
Plaintiffs' Personal Stories and Health Impacts

The lawsuit includes personal testimonies from those who claim to have suffered life-altering consequences from the vaccines. One plaintiff&rsquo;s father allegedly died after receiving three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, while another man&rsquo;s wife reportedly passed away after receiving two doses. Other plaintiffs have shared stories of severe side effects, such as a cleaning worker who suffered a stroke after receiving two doses, and a masseuse who now requires a wheelchair due to serious complications after a single dose.
In addition to the health-related claims, some plaintiffs assert that they faced discrimination in their workplaces for refusing the vaccine. One plaintiff, a worker with Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd, and another, a supervisor at a Melaka department store, both claim that they were subjected to unfair treatment and even job-related penalties for not complying with vaccination mandates.
Another plaintiff, the son of a woman who reportedly died from severe health complications after receiving a single dose of the vaccine, is also involved in the suit. These personal accounts have become central to the case, as they highlight the plaintiffs' belief that the vaccine caused lasting harm to their loved ones and themselves.
Legal Demands: Damages and Reversal of Health Policies

The plaintiffs are seeking a total of RM60 million in general, special, and exemplary damages from the defendants. In addition to monetary compensation, the plaintiffs are asking the court for a formal declaration that COVID-19 is "fake" and man-made. They argue that the pandemic was deliberately engineered and that the vaccines were part of a larger agenda. They also call for the cancellation of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, which they believe was imposed without adequate safety measures or informed consent.
Furthermore, the plaintiffs are demanding that the Malaysian government withdraw its membership from international organizations such as the WHO and the World Economic Forum (WEF), which they claim have conspired to undermine national sovereignty. They accuse these organizations of being "planned criminals" involved in orchestrating a global scheme to control countries under the guise of public health measures. He implied that RM1 per cup was overpriced for their size and questioned the vendor&rsquo;s business practices.

Tragic Death of UiTM Cadet Sparks Outcry Over Training Practices

The sudden death of Muhammad Amir Rusyaidi Muhammad Zaidi, a 25-year-old UiTM Reserve Officer Training Unit (ROTU) cadet, has brought intense scrutiny over alleged abuse and negligence during his training. Amir passed away on November 13, 2024, after falling into a coma following an unscheduled training session on November 10.
His father, Muhammad Zaidi Abdul Rahman, recounted harrowing details of the incident, claiming his son was subjected to severe physical abuse. The training included having his chest stepped on, being ridden like a horse while performing horse-like movements, and forced to jump like a kangaroo. Shockingly, these acts were reportedly recorded by the trainer.
Zaidi also revealed that after Amir collapsed, he was left under the scorching sun for at least 30 minutes. Instead of calling an ambulance, the trainer transported him to Shah Alam Hospital, bypassing the nearer UiTM Medical Centre. Zaidi was only informed of his son&rsquo;s condition when the hospital sought consent to provide breathing aid. Tragically, Amir succumbed to his condition three days later.
Allegations of Negligence and Calls for Justice

Further exacerbating the situation, the trainer reportedly called Zaidi on November 11, asking Amir to attend class to avoid being marked absent. When confronted, the trainer admitted that the incident had not been reported to the university until after disciplinary pressure.
Initially, Shah Alam police have classified the case as a sudden death, while UiTM ROTU Deputy Commandant Ariff Md Ab Malik has called for a thorough investigation by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM). This includes examining whether training protocols were followed and assessing candidate fitness standards.
Heat Stroke Identified as Cause of Death

According to Hussein, Amir joined UiTM ROTU in late October and underwent a fitness test before starting basic training. On the day of the incident, he was allegedly punished with push-ups for lagging behind during a running exercise.
Amir was later admitted to the Shah Alam Hospital&rsquo;s ICU after showing symptoms of high fever, cramps, and dehydration. Despite efforts to stabilize him, his condition deteriorated, leading to his death on November 13.
Police have recorded statements from nine witnesses, including Amir&rsquo;s father, who filed a police report on November 15. The Armed Forces have pledged a thorough investigation into allegations of abuse, with calls for anyone with information to assist in the probe.
Amir&rsquo;s death highlights a recurring and troubling pattern of abuse within military and cadet training programs. In case you haven&rsquo;t heard, businesswoman and cosmetics mogul Dato&rsquo; Seri Hasmiza Othman, more commonly known as Dato&rsquo; Seri Vida (DSV), has found herself in a legal dispute. She is accused of failing to settle a debt of RM1.06 million owed to a subcontractor who completed renovation work on her Shah Alam factory back in 2018, when it was converted into a studio.
As a result, the Kuala Lumpur High Court has ordered the seizure of her assets, which include two Toyota Vellfires, a Toyota Grand Hiace, a BMW X7, and various personal items from her home in Ipoh, Perak.

DSV Responds To The News Of Her Assets Being Seized

In response to the news, the entrepreneur took to Instagram, stating that she has hired a lawyer to help resolve the issue and will provide further clarification soon. During a TikTok livestream on Tuesday (26th November), she confirmed plans to hold a press conference upon her return to Malaysia. However, before that, she shared her thoughts on the subcontractors who had made the allegations against her.

The businesswoman stated that the subcontractors were demanding excessive payments for the renovation of Vida All Star Studio, despite not completing the project. &ldquo;You keep claiming more money, but you haven&rsquo;t finished the job! How about you complete the project first, then claim the money? You keep going over budget and had the nerve to say I didn&rsquo;t pay you. There wasn&rsquo;t even electricity or water in the building!&rdquo; she said during the broadcast.
DSV also pointed out that it is common for customers to pay contractors upfront, or at least provide a deposit, with the balance paid once the work is finished. However, in her case, she claimed the subcontractors kept requesting more money even though the project was far from complete. &ldquo;I already paid them in full. This wasn&rsquo;t a payment-by-progress deal. I paid them everything to make their jobs easier, to support them and give them a chance,&rdquo; she added.

The "I Am Me" singer also shared that she didn&rsquo;t recognize the subcontractor who arrived at her house during the asset seizure. &ldquo;I have no idea who you are; I have not done business with you. I&rsquo;ll say this, you&rsquo;re very clever, I&rsquo;ll give you that. You know how to work the law and used it against me,&rdquo; she said. The livestream was later shared on TikTok, where many netizens expressed sympathy for the entrepreneur.
During the broadcast, DSV also claimed that the plaintiffs who entered her home did not have a warrant. &ldquo;There should&rsquo;ve been another letter. There was no letter or warrant to enter the house, but due to the cooperation of staff I didn&rsquo;t even know about, the plaintiffs were allowed entry,&rdquo; she explained.
However, some pointed out that the Kuala Lumpur High Court had ordered the confiscation of her assets, which suggests that DSV may not be entirely in the right and that she will need to address the issue in court.

Challenges The Claims Of Confiscation Of Her Assets
In the same update, DSV's lawyer previously stated that they plan to challenge the confiscation order, which includes several luxury assets. While she is currently overseas, we&rsquo;ll have to wait for her return to hear the full explanation at her upcoming press conference.
