Over the weekend, the 8th Annual Retro Havoc car meet happened at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara.
For those who don&rsquo;t know, the event is one of Malaysia&rsquo;s biggest car meets to date as over 1,000 cars attended including cars from local builders and countries such as Thailand and Singapore being invited along to the event.

For many, cars are just something that helps you, your friends and family members to get around town. But at Retro Havoc, the cars present were more than just any cars as enthusiasts all around have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears to build up their dream setup that helps form a bond between builders and enthusiasts.
What started as a small car event has certainly grown over the past 8 years as it was reported that the event had an attendance of over 70,000 people cramping in the underground carpark at The Curve.
Chaos All Over
Typically, at a car show, there&rsquo;s a rule that people will need to respect the builds and try not to get their hands on the car to avoid damaging it. Unfortunately, Retro Havoc was full of issues this year from &ldquo;kids&rdquo; not respecting the cars to people damaging and even sabotaging the vehicles.
One of the cars that made headlines was by an owner of a beautiful RX-7 from Singapore who had his original Re Amemiya carbon wing damaged after one of the owners of the cars had decided to rev their cars to show off some pops and bangs.

Visually, it looked like a small incident but in reality, the wing itself would cost you anywhere between RM4,000 &ndash; RM8,000 to purchase it. Fortunately for the owner (<a href="https://www.instagram.com/yipyeets/">@yipyeets</a>), the culprit came forward to admit their mistake during the event after the video of them breaking it went viral.
In the post, the culprit admitted that Retro Havoc was her first car event and she shouldn&rsquo;t have ran that night when one of the cars started revving their engines. Yip had replied to her stating that he will not be asking for any compensation from the culprit as he will cover the cost of the repairs, but in return, he had wished to send a message out to the car community for others to learn a lesson and to respect one another vehicles at future events.

Leaning On Cars And Leaving Fingerprints Everywhere
Aside from Yip&rsquo;s RX-7 incident, other issues surfaced all over the event after owners and enthusiasts complained about visitors leaving their fingerprints all over the cars including those leaning or even sitting on the bodywork of the car and even a hit-and-run case on someone&rsquo;s Mercedes w202.

More photos have been circulating on social media of members of the public posing around with cars while posing or leaning against the bodywork. Unfortunately, another show car owner too suffered the same faith as Yip&rsquo;s RX-7 where a piece of the wing had been broken.
Issue Of Sabotage 
Among all the incidents that happened during the car meet, the icing on the cake went to <a href="https://www.instagram.com/airconsejuk/">@airconsejuk</a>, a private car club based in Malaysia which had reported to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) about an act of Sabotage towards one of their vehicles.
The group had a specially reserved area at the car meet at the Mainstage Zone D and one of the owners claimed that a total of 6 of his car&rsquo;s lug nuts had been stolen while 14 more were loosened.

According to their Instagram post, the car had been left alone for 30 minutes while one of the drivers was making their way into the venue. Meanwhile, the other members of the group had left for a smoke break and to catch some cool air as the heat in the carpark was unbearable after a participant had done some pops and bangs in the venue.

According to the group, the incident happened between 10:10 pm and 10:40 pm and they requested the public to assist and find out who had done such an act. Now, for something like this to happen is not easy and the group suspects that the suspect may have had a wrench or wrench gun with them. They are currently working with the security management of The Curve to get CCTV footage of the incident.
After an incident like this, it seems like the car community in Malaysia will soon receive more hate rather than love. Previously, a car meet happened at Uniqlo in Bandar Sri Damansara and local DJ Yusef Kifah slammed the crowd for making noise in a public area close to a neighbourhood.

Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has once again escaped conviction in one of his many legal battles, after the High Court granted him a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) over RM27 million allegedly misappropriated from SRC International. However, the 70-year-old remains behind bars, serving a six-year sentence for a separate SRC-related conviction involving RM42 million.
SRC International: The RM27 Million DNAA Explained

On 20 June 2025, High Court Judge K Muniandy delivered the long-awaited decision on Najib's final SRC-related criminal case, which had stalled since charges were first brought in February 2019. The former premier had been accused of receiving RM27 million in illegal proceeds through his AmPrivate Banking accounts on 8 July 2014.
The judge ruled in favour of a DNAA, agreeing with the defence that it would be unjust for Najib to continue facing charges indefinitely without trial. Noting the prosecution&rsquo;s repeated delays and inability to proceed&mdash;despite six years having passed&mdash;Justice Muniandy said there was no sign the case could move forward within a reasonable time frame.
&ldquo;The prolonged wait has become a long haul for the accused, denying him timely resolution,&rdquo; the judge said. He emphasised that criminal charges should not hang over an accused like &ldquo;the sword of Damocles.&rdquo;
A DNAA means Najib is released from the charges, but not acquitted&mdash;should fresh evidence emerge, the prosecution may reopen the case.
Prosecution&rsquo;s Delays and Missing Documents

Najib&rsquo;s lead counsel, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, revealed the prosecution had failed to compile over 500 essential documents needed to move forward with trial. When queried by the court in May, the deputy public prosecutor admitted they could not commit to a timeline, leading to further uncertainty.
The judge also noted that no witnesses had been called in the six years since the case was filed, with only repeated postponements. Even the prosecution conceded it would not be prejudiced by a DNAA, highlighting the case&rsquo;s deadlocked state.
Shafee later told reporters that Najib was &ldquo;very happy&rdquo; with the outcome, adding that the number of cases hanging over his client was now diminishing, allowing the former premier to focus solely on the high-profile 1MDB trial.
Najib&rsquo;s Ongoing Legal Woes

While the RM27 million SRC case is now on pause, Najib is far from a free man.
He remains imprisoned in Kajang Prison after being convicted in 2020 for seven charges involving RM42 million from SRC International, including criminal breach of trust, abuse of power, and money laundering. The conviction was upheld by the Court of Appeal in 2021 and the Federal Court in 2022. Initially sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined RM210 million, Najib&rsquo;s sentence was halved in 2024 following a partial royal pardon.
The 1MDB-linked case that landed him in prison was the first to result in an actual conviction&mdash;but it is far from his only legal entanglement.
The Larger 1MDB Scandal and Other DNAA Cases

Najib is currently fighting a separate, more complex case: the 1MDB-Tanore trial. He faces four charges of abuse of power and 21 charges of money laundering involving RM2.27 billion in 1MDB funds. That trial, which began more than seven years ago, is finally nearing its end. Written submissions are due by 30 September 2025, with oral arguments scheduled for October.
He has previously been granted DNAA status in other high-profile cases:

<li>RM6.6 Billion IPIC Case: In 2018, Najib and former Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Irwan Serigar were charged with criminal breach of trust over RM6.6 billion related to a settlement between 1MDB and Abu Dhabi&rsquo;s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC). The case stalled due to missing documents and was DNAA&rsquo;d in 2023.</li>
<li>1MDB Audit Report Tampering: Najib and former 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda were acquitted in 2023 of tampering with the 1MDB final audit report after the court found insufficient evidence.</li>

House Arrest Bid and Ongoing Controversies

Najib is also pursuing a civil application seeking to serve the remainder of his prison term under house arrest, based on an alleged &ldquo;royal addendum&rdquo; issued in January 2024 by former King Al-Sultan Abdullah. His legal team claims this royal order was overlooked by authorities.
His lawyer Shafee recently lodged a police report against former Attorney General Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh, accusing him of misleading the courts by claiming that the addendum did not exist. Shafee maintains that the former AG had full knowledge of the document, which allegedly permits Najib to complete his sentence under house arrest.
However, access to confirm the existence of the royal decree has reportedly been stalled by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Shafee said the Prisons Department had no objection to Najib lodging a police report himself, but Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had not granted permission despite multiple written requests.
What Happens Next?
For now, Najib&rsquo;s legal focus shifts solely to the 1MDB-Tanore case. If he is found guilty, it could add more jail time on top of his current sentence&mdash;even with the reduced term from the royal pardon.
The DNAA granted in the RM27 million SRC case spares Najib from immediate further prosecution, but it remains a temporary reprieve. The prosecution is free to reinstate the charges when ready, and the shadow of his extensive legal history still looms large over the former prime minister.
With mounting controversies and his legacy deeply entwined with one of the world's most infamous financial scandals, Najib Razak&rsquo;s courtroom saga is far from over.

Former NCT member Moon Taeil, once a well-loved figure in the K-pop scene, now faces a seven-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated rape. His first court appearance on 18 June 2025 marks a pivotal moment in a scandal that first erupted in August 2024, when news broke of a foreign woman accusing Taeil of sexual assault while under the influence.

In the early hours of 13 June 2024, Taeil and two male associates met the victim&mdash;a Chinese national&mdash;at a bar in Itaewon, Seoul. The woman had no prior relationship with the men. According to prosecutors, the trio targeted her while she was intoxicated, before forcing her into a taxi bound for one of the defendant&rsquo;s homes in Bangbae-dong.
There, between 4:00am and 4:30am, the three men took turns raping the unconscious victim. The prosecution stressed that this was not a spontaneous crime, citing evidence including text messages exchanged between the men in which they acknowledged the victim&rsquo;s foreign nationality and discussed manipulating the taxi&rsquo;s GPS to obscure their true location&mdash;further signalling premeditation.
Surveillance and Digital Evidence

The case relied heavily on surveillance footage and digital analysis. Prosecutors revealed it took nearly two months for authorities to review CCTV recordings and accurately reconstruct the suspects&rsquo; movements. The coordinated effort to conceal the crime strengthened the case for aggravated rape&mdash;an offence taken extremely seriously under South Korea&rsquo;s Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
Prosecutors described the offence as being carried out with &ldquo;malicious intent and extremely poor moral character&rdquo;, underlining the calculated nature of the defendants&rsquo; actions.
Taeil Pleads Guilty, Cites Remorse and Personal Struggles

Taeil did not deny the allegations. When questioned by the judge, he clearly stated, &ldquo;I admit to all the charges.&rdquo; Speaking through his lawyer, Taeil expressed deep remorse, citing emotional and psychological distress, including trauma from a past traffic accident, financial struggles, and his current employment at a friend&rsquo;s restaurant.
His defence team added that Taeil had voluntarily surrendered to authorities, was attending ongoing counselling, and had completed sexual assault prevention education. He had also engaged with the victim through legal channels and received a statement from her expressing that she did not wish for further punishment.
&ldquo;I deeply regret the harm caused to the victim and feel great remorse,&rdquo; Taeil told the court in a closing statement. &ldquo;I apologise to everyone who is disappointed in me. If given leniency, I will treat it as the last chance in my life and dedicate myself to contributing positively to society.&rdquo;
Prosecution Unmoved by Apologies

The prosecution, however, challenged the sincerity of Taeil&rsquo;s remorse. They argued that his surrender to police came only after a search and seizure had already been initiated, questioning whether his actions were motivated by accountability or desperation.
They also criticised the implausible claim that the men simply intended to &ldquo;drink more&rdquo; at a residence located far from the initial bar. This, they argued, added to the calculated nature of the crime. The prosecution is seeking not only seven years&rsquo; imprisonment but also a ten-year employment restriction and mandatory disclosure of personal information.
Public Reaction and Industry Backlash
The revelations have deeply shaken the K-pop community. Taeil, who debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT U and later joined NCT 127, was known for his clean image and charitable efforts. However, his continued appearances at group events, including NCT 127&rsquo;s 8th anniversary fan meeting, even after the investigation had begun&mdash;without disclosing the charges&mdash;drew sharp criticism from fans and the public alike.
The backlash led SM Entertainment to announce his contract termination on 15 October 2023, stating that the company could no longer endorse his activities given the severity of the allegations.
Sentencing Date Set for July
The sentencing for Taeil and his co-defendants is scheduled for 10 July 2025 at 2:00pm. All three men remain under investigation without detention, with the court previously ruling that&mdash;since they had confessed&mdash;there was no risk of fleeing or destroying evidence.
As the trial continues to draw national and international attention, the case is increasingly being viewed as a litmus test for accountability in South Korea&rsquo;s entertainment industry, where celebrity scandals are often met with mixed responses.
