For those who frequently fly often with Malaysia Airlines (MAS), we all can agree on one thing, their food is honestly borderline terrible.
For the past 25 years, the MAS has had a contract with Brahim Holdings to cater their in-flight meals and it looks like it&rsquo;s finally coming to an end as the contract expires at the end of the month. It is reported that the two companies have not been able to negotiate to extend their contract which ends on 30th June and the airline is set to manage its in-flight catering services under its subsidiary MAS Awana.&nbsp;

The disagreement between Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) and Brahim's Airline Catering Sdn Bhd (BAC) originated from a termination clause within an impending contract that required mutual agreement and signing from both parties. Consequently, BAC decided to withdraw their cooperation, leading to the current dispute.
According to reports, specific internal responsibilities, such as transporting meals to aircraft, are expected to be assigned to a new contractor due to MAS Awana's inability to manage all operations independently. There are speculations that the potential replacement could be Pos Aviation In-flight Catering, a division of Pos Aviation Sdn Bhd, which already serves as a flight catering service provider to MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of MAG.

For those who won&rsquo;t fly often, many wouldn&rsquo;t understand the whole situation. But for those who do fly with MAS, they have expressed a sign of relief as many passengers have been putting up with subpar meals if not tasteless meals while flying with them.
Local comedian Arwin Kumar also took to social media to share his experience with MAS. No doubt, MAS is known for their in-flight hospitality but Arwin had joked saying that MAS should quality check (QC) their vegetarian food with him.

He explains that the spaghetti that he ordered had no smell. After mixing with the sauce that came with the spaghetti, he pretty much said the food was tasteless. As for the salad and the bread, it was pretty much bland and was also stale.
Others have also agreed that it&rsquo;s been a long time coming that MAS should have switched its caterer after it received numerous criticisms from its passengers.

The change is something that&rsquo;s needed. During long-haul flights, many also expressed their disappointment towards MAS as how they only serve one in-flight meal instead of two like many other airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airlines and even Emirates. For the price passengers pay for the flights, they would at least want to have a good serving of food to keep themselves full for their journey let alone a delicious meal.

A 20-year-old foreign female student was found dead inside a condominium unit in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, in what police are investigating as a suspected murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Authorities have arrested a foreign male student, also believed to be in his 20s and studying at the same private higher education institution, to assist with investigations. Preliminary findings suggest the victim suffered multiple injuries before her death, with police treating the case as a homicide.
Police Called to Scene After Distress Report

A foreign man was arrested shortly afterwards at the same location. Police also seized several items believed to be linked to the investigation, including potential forensic evidence.
The victim&rsquo;s body was later transported to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Keep On Rollin’: Limp Bizkit Set For First-Ever Malaysia Concert As Kuala Lumpur Lands Their Only Asia Stop

Malaysia's controversial yet highly successful Rain Rave Water Music Festival 2026 generated an estimated RM392.33 million in economic returns, according to Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
Speaking during Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat, Tiong said the festival demonstrated the effectiveness of event-based tourism in driving visitor spending, economic activity and international exposure under the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.
Held from 30 April to 2 May, the festival attracted approximately 415,000 visitors across Kuala Lumpur and six other locations nationwide, making it one of the country's largest tourism events this year.
Kuala Lumpur Led The Economic Impact

The flagship Rain Rave event in Bukit Bintang attracted around 250,000 visitors, comprising approximately 150,000 domestic tourists and 100,000 international visitors from countries including China, Japan, India, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam.
According to Tiong, the Kuala Lumpur edition alone generated an estimated RM320.43 million in economic returns.
Meanwhile, companion events held in Terengganu, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Labuan and Langkawi attracted a further 165,000 visitors and contributed an estimated RM71.9 million.
Combined, the nationwide festival generated RM392.33 million in economic impact, with estimates calculated using Tourism Malaysia's Departing Visitors Survey (DVS) methodology, supported by data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
RM36 Return For Every RM1 Spent

Tiong revealed that the festival cost RM15 million to organise, with RM11 million funded by the government and RM4 million contributed by private-sector partners.
Based on the returns generated, every RM1 spent by the government delivered an estimated RM36 in economic value.
Although admission was free, Tiong said organisers could have generated substantial ticket revenue. Charging RM300 per ticket could have raised around RM75 million, while a RM200 ticket price could have generated approximately RM50 million.
However, the government chose to keep the event free as a gesture of appreciation to Malaysians in conjunction with Labour Day, while encouraging wider participation and promoting Visit Malaysia 2026.
Positive Impact On Businesses And Tourism Operators

The festival also delivered significant benefits to businesses in the Bukit Bintang-KLCC area.
According to feedback from the BBKLCC Tourism Association, Lot 10 recorded a 40% increase in visitor traffic and a 45% rise in sales during the festival period. Sungei Wang Plaza also reported a 31.3% increase in visitors alongside stronger sales performance.
The food and beverage sector experienced a boost as well, with Pavilion Kuala Lumpur reporting an 11% increase in average sales and higher walk-in customer numbers.
A total of 63 food stalls and 15 craft booths participated in the festival, generating direct sales of RM388,690.

After a clip of her pronouncing roti canai as &ldquo;roti kanai&rdquo; went viral among Malaysians, Jaime later posted a video on her social media platforms addressing the reactions. In the video, she apologised to those who felt she had misrepresented the beloved dish, while explaining that she was born and raised in the United States despite maintaining a strong connection to her Malaysian heritage and taking pride in representing the country on an international stage.
Regardless of how the competition unfolds, Jaime has already given Malaysians plenty to be proud of by showcasing local flavours and culture to a global audience. Whether she ultimately wins or not, we&rsquo;ll be cheering her on throughout the rest of MasterChef: Global Gauntlet as she continues to fly the Malaysian flag high on one of the world's biggest culinary stages.
