Instances of bullying have become a distressing norm in today's society, impacting individuals across all age groups. Unfortunately, a substantial number of bullying incidents in Malaysia are centred around high school students, with a recent case surfacing in Johor Bahru.
In a disheartening occurrence, a 15-year-old boy endured physical harm when a group of teenage boys subjected him to an assault, capturing the ordeal on video at approximately 3 pm on August 9th. As per various sources, this distressing incident is believed to have stemmed from a conflict concerning a female acquaintance. This dispute escalated to the point where one of the male students resorted to striking, kicking, and trampling the teenager. Consequently, the victim sustained grievous injuries to his abdomen, arms, and thighs.

ACP Raub Selamat, the Johor District Police Chief, said a distressing incident unfolded wherein a group of six local teenagers and one foreign individual, aged between 14 and 17, collectively targeted the victim within the precincts of Taman Bestari Indah.
Promptly responding to the grievous complaint, law enforcement authorities took decisive action, apprehending all the implicated suspects on August 14th between the hours of 5:30 pm and 9:34 pm. As part of their investigative efforts, a collection of items, including a blue jersey, three long-sleeved blue shirts, a short-sleeved black t-shirt, and a mobile phone, were seized to aid in the ongoing inquiry.
The seven suspects were later brought to a Magistrates Court for a remand order in accordance with Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The case on the other hand will be investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code and if guilty, they could receive a sentence of up to 2 years in prison or a fine or both.

The portal serves as another avenue for the public and students to lodge their complaints. In case the public or students don&rsquo;t want to use the portal, bullying cases can also be reported by calling 03-88849352 or emailing <a href="mailto:adubuli@moe.gov.my">adubuli@moe.gov.my</a>.
Hopefully, this move by the authorities will make other bullies think twice and maybe even inspire more people to stand up against such behaviour. It'd be great to see fewer bullying cases in Malaysia as a result.

In addition, two vehicles parked within the premises were also affected by falling debris.&rdquo;
Firefighters managed to stabilise the situation and secure the area by 7.55am. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among students, teachers, or nearby residents. The timing of the landslide, occurring just before the full arrival of students, likely prevented what could have been a far more serious incident.

Following the incident, the school temporarily suspended in-person classes to allow for safety checks and structural assessments. Parents were notified shortly after the incident, and arrangements were made for some students to be picked up early. Affected areas within the school were cordoned off, and emergency protocols were activated.
School officials expressed relief that no one was injured and thanked the fire and rescue personnel for their swift action. "We are working closely with authorities to ensure the safety and structural integrity of our buildings before resuming normal operations," a school spokesperson said.
