However, not every trip unfolds without a hitch, as a group of Malaysians recently discovered during their stay in Thailand.
Man &amp; His Friends Almost Kidnapped By E-Hailing Driver
Not long ago, Andrew Tong took to Facebook to recount a disturbing incident. He shared how an e-hailing driver almost abducted him and his friends while they were en route to the airport for their journey back home from their vacation in Thailand.

In his post, Andrew and his group of five friends were preparing to head back home, so they booked an e-hailing ride to the airport. The whole experience felt strange, and Andrew's intuition told him that something was amiss, particularly when the driver arrived at 7pm with fully tinted windows.
&ldquo;As soon as we entered the car, the driver got all sneaky on his phone and asked us where we were from. We didn&rsquo;t think too much about it and told him we were from Malaysia. My friend then told me to eavesdrop on the driver&rsquo;s phone conversation as I understand how to speak Thai,&rdquo; he shared.
After listening to the conversation, they realized that the driver was disclosing their personal information to an unknown person over the phone. Andrew then interpreted the conversation that took place between the driver and the mysterious caller, which eventually caused the driver to become suspicious of the group's reactions.
&ldquo;I then heard him telling the person that someone understands Thai and was translating the entire conversation. He was also monitoring our every move and reporting it to the other person.&rdquo;
Time To Make An Escape

Feeling increasingly uneasy, Andrew and his group decided to address the situation. Andrew cross-referenced the estimated arrival time provided by the driver's GPS map with that on Waze. He noticed a significant disparity, with Waze indicating a 30-minute journey to the airport while the driver's GPS suggested it was a 50-minute drive away.
Concerned that the situation might deteriorate, the group realized they couldn't remain in the taxi any longer and devised an escape plan. While stuck in traffic near the Siam Centre, Andrew asked the driver to pull over, claiming they urgently needed to use the restroom. Initially, the driver refused, expressing fears of potential legal consequences if he parked on the roadside. Instead, he proposed driving them to a nearby gas station, a mere 5-minute distance away.

Without any delay, the group promptly swung the vehicle's door open while they were on the main road. They retrieved their luggage from the rear of the Hilux and swiftly made their escape from the driver. Luckily, the driver couldn't react in time, resulting in an unexpected escape. The surprising part was that the driver neither pursued them nor demanded money.
An Unforgettable Experience And Lesson
If you're planning a trip to Thailand and need transportation within the country, it's essential to be aware of the available e-hailing services. Before his ordeal, Andrew and his friends were later invited to the Thai Tourism Authority's office in KL to discuss the incident further. Additionally, it's worth noting that Andrew used InDrive for his e-hailing service. However, he refrained from contacting the company to file a complaint against the driver, as the app is reportedly considered illegal in Thailand.&nbsp;
InDrive Provides A Response

In a statement provided by InDrive to MYC!, the company stated that they had conducted an internal investigation, which concluded that no wrongdoing occurred and that the incident resulted from a miscommunication between the passenger and driver.
"At inDrive, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any behaviour or conduct that jeopardises the safety of our users. Our users&rsquo; safety is our top priority and we take any report of any incident involving our users very seriously. We believe in 100% user satisfaction, fairness, safety, and the privacy of our customers is of utmost importance to us."
For customers who have faced any dissatisfactory incidents while using the service, the company urged users to file a report via <a href="mailto:support@indrive.com">support@indrive.com.&nbsp;</a>
In the end, Andrew expressed gratitude that he and his friends heeded their initial instincts and successfully escaped the driver. Despite the driver's apparent history of picking up over 600 passengers, the unpredictability of the situation made it an unforgettable experience.
Fortunately, Andrew and his friends emerged from the incident unharmed. This serves as a crucial reminder to conduct some preliminary research on local transportation options before embarking on a trip and to exclusively use apps that are legally authorized by the respective government.

The 15-year-old, known as Yi Xuan, vanished from her home in Batu Pahat on the morning of 28 April. Her family fears she may have been abducted by a man who previously took her away without explanation.
Early Morning Disappearance Raises Alarm

The sudden nature of her disappearance has added to the family's anxiety, particularly given a troubling incident involving the same daughter just days earlier.
A Troubling Incident Just Days Before
On 23 April, five days before she went missing, Yi Xuan was unexpectedly picked up from school by an unfamiliar man. The family only found out through school authorities, who informed them that a Chinese man in a Proton Waja had collected her. The family had not authorised anyone to do so.
Fearing the worst, Su immediately lodged a police report. Fortunately, Yi Xuan returned home later that day unharmed &mdash; but refused to share where she had been taken or what had happened during her time away. The silence from the teenager left her family deeply unsettled.

&ldquo;He&rsquo;s in his 40s, but we don&rsquo;t have his real name, and we don&rsquo;t know what he does for a living. We hardly communicate with him. After the last time he picked up my daughter, I asked her what happened, but she just wouldn&rsquo;t say anything,&rdquo; said Su.
The family has no idea when &ldquo;Ah Long&rdquo; began contacting Yi Xuan or the nature of their relationship. The lack of transparency has only deepened fears that the teenager may have been manipulated or lured away.
Phones Switched Off and a Home Left Empty
After Yi Xuan&rsquo;s disappearance on 28 April, the family attempted to contact both her and &ldquo;Ah Long&rdquo; by phone. Neither responded, and both devices have remained switched off since. In desperation, Su went to &ldquo;Ah Long&rsquo;s&rdquo; known residence, only to find that the premises appeared abandoned.
&ldquo;My family and I have searched everywhere she usually goes &mdash; parks, caf&eacute;s, and hangouts she likes. We even received a tip that someone saw a girl matching her description in Yong Peng, and we rushed there, but so far we&rsquo;ve found nothing,&rdquo; said Su.
A Family Desperate for Answers
Yi Xuan&rsquo;s sudden silence, her connection to a mysterious older man, and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance have left her family deeply worried and emotionally drained. Her mother expressed frustration over the lack of leads and the fear that something sinister may have happened.
&ldquo;She didn&rsquo;t leave any messages. No clues. She just vanished,&rdquo; Su said, holding back tears. &ldquo;We are so afraid for her. If anyone has seen her or knows anything, we just want her home safe.&rdquo;
Police Reports Filed, Public Urged to Help
