The role eventually went to Ralph Macchio, and it was the right move because look at how big of a phenomenon it became!
The first film received tremendous reviews, prompting two more sequels &ndash; The Karate Kid Part II (1986) and The Karate Kid Part III (1989) by Kamen and Avildsen in the coming years and one from Mark Lee and Christopher Cain starring Hillary Swank for The Next Karate Kid (1994), broadening the film universe. At that point, the franchise was such a massive success in Hollywood, making karate a cool thing for kids and teenagers to pursue.
With its mega influence in Hollywood on its release, the franchise managed to bag a multitude of awards and nominations. Nominated for the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes for the portrayal of Mr. Miyagi, it was a milestone for Pat Morita, marking it as a first in his acting career.

&ldquo;Upon assessment, it was confirmed that the collapse had impacted various parts of the school infrastructure,&rdquo; Azkhan stated. &ldquo;Classrooms, the staff room, student toilets, and even the library sustained visible damage. In addition, two vehicles parked within the premises were also affected by falling debris.&rdquo;
Firefighters managed to stabilise the situation and secure the area by 7.55am. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among students, teachers, or nearby residents. The timing of the landslide, occurring just before the full arrival of students, likely prevented what could have been a far more serious incident.

Following the incident, the school temporarily suspended in-person classes to allow for safety checks and structural assessments. Parents were notified shortly after the incident, and arrangements were made for some students to be picked up early. Affected areas within the school were cordoned off, and emergency protocols were activated.
School officials expressed relief that no one was injured and thanked the fire and rescue personnel for their swift action. "We are working closely with authorities to ensure the safety and structural integrity of our buildings before resuming normal operations," a school spokesperson said.

Venturing into a solo career, Daesung released his first solo single, &ldquo;Look at Me, Gwisun,&rdquo; in 2008, showcasing his versatility by embracing the trot genre. His Japanese solo endeavors under the stage name D-LITE have been particularly successful; albums like D&rsquo;scover (2013), D&rsquo;slove (2014), and D-Day (2017) topped Japan&rsquo;s Oricon charts. Notably, his 2017 Japanese dome tour attracted over 150,000 fans, making him the second foreign male solo artist after Michael Jackson to achieve two consecutive number one albums in Japan. ​
Beyond music, Daesung has showcased his charisma on television, being a main cast member of the popular variety show Family Outing (2008&ndash;2010) and starring in the musical drama What&rsquo;s Up (2011). Ticket sales open to the general public on Friday, 2 May at 4:26PM (Malaysian time). However, fans who are members of Resorts World Genting (RWG) will have the opportunity to grab their seats early through a special presale starting Wednesday, 30 April, also at 4:26PM.
