Navigating the job market post-pandemic has proven to be a formidable challenge. Despite the country's gradual recovery, the job landscape remains restrained, with businesses cautiously maintaining leaner offices and staff numbers.
The predicament is especially taxing for recent graduates who find themselves caught in the paradox of job hunting&mdash;numerous opportunities demanding prior experience, yet the elusive entry-level positions are scarce. Nevertheless, the dynamics shift when it comes to embodying proper workplace etiquette, particularly for those in the Human Resources (HR) department. This role, responsible for the critical tasks of finding, hiring, training, and supporting new employees, demands a heightened sense of professional conduct.
Yet, regrettably, this isn't always the reality.
HR Staff Shames Candidate Online
While tales of terrible bosses abound, this purported HR staff member took a different approach by publicly ridiculing a job applicant on X. The HR employee's caption, "Stop hiring the resume, start hiring attitude," garnered a negative reception from online netizens.

It all commenced when an ostensibly HR employee shared an image of a candidate's resume on Twitter. The unnamed individual had submitted a straightforward resume for a Senior Engineer position at an undisclosed company. Evidently dissatisfied with the submission, the HR person chose to publicize it online, presumably to "enhance" the quality of future candidate applications.
As of the current writing, the post has amassed over 2.2 million views, 1.8k Reposts, and 4.5K Likes on X. Numerous netizens expressed their disapproval in the comments section, accusing the employee of publicly shaming the candidate based on their uncomplicated resume. Many argued that it was unnecessary for the HR staff to share the resume photo and speak negatively about the candidate. They contended that if one showcases their qualifications, it should suffice to secure at least a job interview within the company.
Nevertheless, some believed the submitted resume lacked quality and deemed the candidate unfit for the position. Despite this, a consensus emerged that the HR personnel should not have resorted to social media to showcase it, with advice for future candidates to submit clear and legible resumes.

A 24-year-old school bus driver recently went viral after TikTok clips surfaced of him stealing glances at young schoolgirls and giving them pet names. These videos quickly sparked outrage.
The controversy gained attention when X user Ikhwan (@JatIkhwan) highlighted the issue in a tweet, mentioning that the TikToker had amassed over 600,000 followers before his account was suspended. This prompted the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, to file a police report against the driver.

&lsquo;Abang Bas&rsquo; Slapped With Sexual Abuse Charges By Court
Following swift action by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), the TikTok user known as &lsquo;Abang Bas&rsquo; was arrested on Friday, September 6th. Today, he faced charges in court for sexually abusing children and reportedly broke down in tears upon hearing the charges.

At the Muar Sessions Court, the suspect faced two charges related to the sexual abuse of children dating back to April 2024. The first charge alleges that he kissed his 4-year-old cousin on the cheek while on a school bus in Simpang Renggam, during the period between April and September, around 5 to 6 PM.
This charge falls under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and whipping.
The second charge accuses the individual, known as 'Abang Bas', of repeatedly observing a 9-year-old girl for sexual purposes on the same bus and location, during the same time frame in early September.

He was charged with a Serious Sexual Non-Physical Offence under Section 15(a)(iii) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both.
The suspect pleaded not guilty to both charges and was visibly emotional, wiping away tears as the charges were presented before Judge Sayani Mohd.

In court, the prosecution sought RM50,000 bail for each charge, citing the significant public interest surrounding the case. They also requested that the suspect be required to report to the police station monthly and prohibited from contacting the victims or witnesses.
The defense, however, appealed for a lower bail, highlighting the suspect's limited income as a bus driver. The court set bail at RM30,000 for both charges, with the condition that the suspect comply with the additional terms proposed by the prosecution.
The case has been adjourned to October 10 for a mention and submission of documents.

However, Apple has subtly enhanced the Pro models with slightly larger displays&mdash;6.3 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The 6.3-inch model offers a resolution of 2622&times;1206 pixels, while the larger Pro Max boasts 2868&times;1320 pixels. Both still utilize Super Retina XDR OLED screens with a pixel density of 460 ppi, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits (1,000 nits typical). They also maintain the 120Hz ProMotion display technology and the Dynamic Island at the top, which houses the front camera and sensors.

Apple claims that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max feature the thinnest bezels yet, though the overall dimensions have slightly increased due to the larger screens. Both models are a few millimetres taller and wider but maintain the same thickness of 8.25mm. The iPhone 16 Pro has gained 12g in weight, while the Pro Max is 6g heavier compared to their predecessors.

For connectivity, the iPhone 16 Pro series supports 5G (sub-6GHz in Malaysia), Bluetooth 5.3, and WiFi 7 with 2&times;2 MIMO. Additionally, they are compatible with Apple's latest MagSafe charger, which offers faster wireless charging up to 25W, though a 30W power adapter is required for this speed.
Battery life has also seen improvements. The iPhone 16 Pro boasts up to 23 hours of video playback, the same as its predecessor, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max extends battery life to 33 hours, up from 29 hours on the previous model. Both models can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes for the Pro and 35 minutes for the Pro Max when using a 20W adapter.

Many drivers in Malaysia have often wondered why we don&rsquo;t have the sleek, durable metal number plates like the ones used in Europe, which not only look better but also tend to last longer than our standard plates that can break easily.
However, if you&rsquo;re an EV owner, your wish might be coming true. In June, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced plans for the government to introduce a special metal plate frame specifically for zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) and electric vehicles (EV).

The new plate is designed to differentiate EVs from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, with manufacturers producing and installing them directly on the cars. Today, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) launched the trial phase of this initiative, known as the JPJePlate.
As outlined on the JPJePlate website, the main objective of this initiative is to standardize number plate designs for all motor vehicles, while also enhancing road safety.
New Plate Is Mandatory For New EV and ZEV Vehicles
As of September 9, the new special plates are mandatory only for new electric vehicles powered by either a battery (Plug-in EV/Battery Cell) or hydrogen (Hydrogen Fuel-Cell EV), with the exception of motorcycles.
So, if you purchase an EV today, your vehicle will come equipped with the new JPJePlate. Existing EV owners who want to switch to the new plate can register their interest at <a href="https://jpjeplate.jpj.gov.my/laman-utama/">jpjeplate.pjp.gov.my</a>.
However, please note that for those registering, the plates will only be available for order starting November 9.
Registration Limited to OEMs and Vehicle Dealers &amp; Pilot Project For EVs
Currently, registration for the JPJePlate is limited to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and vehicle dealers.
&ldquo;OEMs and vehicle dealers who have registered are able to order and install the JPJePlate on customer vehicles. In the next phase, we&rsquo;ll expand access to users beyond OEMs and dealers,&rdquo; JPJ stated on their website.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke highlighted that this is a pilot project for EVs, designed to assess public reception and acceptance.
&ldquo;We&rsquo;ll be monitoring the response to this initiative, and if it's positive, we may consider extending it to all vehicles,&rdquo; he said.
This suggests that, if successful, the JPJePlate could eventually be rolled out to all motor vehicles in Malaysia.
What Are The Key Features Of The New EV Plate?

The special number plates have nine key features, including:

<li>The international vehicle registration code and the abbreviation for Malaysia (MAL), embossed on the plate</li>
<li>A colour indicator on the left side of the plate to distinguish the vehicle&rsquo;s fuel type (e.g., green for FEV)</li>
<li>Holographic stripes</li>
<li>Anti-counterfeit foil</li>
<li>A digital signature (QR Code)</li>
<li>A laser-engraved serial number</li>
<li>Embedded RFID</li>
<li>Security screws for installation</li>
</ul>
What&rsquo;s The Purpose Of The EV Plate &amp; How Much Will It Cost?

As outlined on the JPJePlate website, the new special registration plate is designed to enhance road safety by improving nighttime visibility with retro-reflective materials, contributing to safer driving conditions and lowering the risk of accidents.
Additionally, the plate incorporates features to prevent forgery and deter vehicle theft. It also acts as a key identifier for enforcement purposes and enables quicker response in case of emergencies.
Moreover, the JPJePlate is integrated into the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) ecosystem through RFID technology, further advancing its functionality.
If you&rsquo;re looking to purchase the plate, the JPJePlate will be priced at RM98 per set which includes:

<li>One rear plate for the vehicle</li>
<li>One windshield RFID sticker</li>
<li>Standard delivery to an authorized installation centre</li>

The new plates certainly look sleek, and once they&rsquo;re widely available, you won't have to worry about getting pulled over for having "fancy number plates." On another note, if these standardized plates are extended to all vehicles, it could spell the end for businesses that currently produce custom plates&mdash;or they may need to adapt by applying for licenses to manufacture these official designs.

Recently, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) reported an investigation into a troubling incident where an individual was seen riding a street luge (a downhill longboard) through traffic on Jalan Tun Sardon, Penang.

The issue emerged when TikTok user @shahmichaell posted a video showing an individual in a full white suit lying on a street luge while descending a hill through moving traffic.
The 47-second video vividly depicts the person performing stunts, such as extending their arms and doing sit-ups, highlighting dangerous and reckless behaviour.
Netizens Agree That It&rsquo;s Dangerous But Also Assumed It&rsquo;s One Of Malaysia&rsquo;s Street Luge World Champions
At the time of writing, As of now, the video has garnered over 550K views on TikTok, with many users voicing their concerns about the individual's safety and the risks posed to other road users on the hill. A number of commenters also argued that the person should be arrested by the police, as such reckless behaviour on public roads with passing vehicles is unacceptable.

However, some netizens have speculated that the individual might be Abdil Mahdzan, a 7-time Street Luge World Champion.

This guess is partly due to the similar white suit worn. However, upon closer inspection, it seems unlikely to be him. If it were indeed a 7-time World Champion, he would likely be going faster and would not be navigating the street luge down a hill with moving traffic.
PDRM Investigating The Incident

Currently, Superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal, the Southwest District Police Chief, has called on anyone with relevant information to contact the Southwest Police Operations Room at 04-8664122 or reach out to the investigating officer, Inspector Noor Amera Mohd Nawi, at 013-3312026.
&ldquo;The police take this matter very seriously, as the individual&rsquo;s actions present a significant risk to both themselves and other road users,&rdquo; Superintendent Kamarul Rizal stated in a press release on Saturday.
The investigation is being carried out under Section 3(1) of the Road Traffic (Micro-Mobility Vehicle Usage Prohibition) Rules 2021.
