From 1st July 2025, Malaysians will be able to renew and activate their My50 unlimited travel pass entirely through the Touch &lsquo;n Go (TNG) eWallet app, as part of a nationwide push to digitalise public transport systems.
The days of long queues at Rapid KL counters may soon be over. According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, in partnership with Touch &lsquo;n Go, has launched a digital version of the My50 Travel Pass, offering greater convenience for urban commuters.

Previously, renewing the monthly pass required commuters to line up and use their MyKad (NRIC) for activation. &ldquo;This move aligns with our efforts to modernise public transport and push towards a fully digital and cashless society,&rdquo; said Loke during the launch. &ldquo;A world-class public transport system is not just about having trains and buses; it&rsquo;s also about seamless digital infrastructure.&rdquo;

<li>Dishonestly misusing RM120,000 from a company linked to ARMADA, allegedly for personal use;</li>
<li>Two counts of money laundering, involving RM50,000 each, transferred into his Amanah Saham Bumiputera account.</li>

The High Court had ordered the sentences for CBT and misappropriation to run consecutively, meaning he faced seven years in jail. The money laundering convictions would have added an additional two years, running concurrently. Syed Saddiq&rsquo;s sentence also included two strokes of the rotan and a RM10 million fine. The sentence had been stayed pending the appeal.
Emotional Reactions in the Courtroom

The former minister&rsquo;s reaction to the acquittal was visibly emotional. Dressed in a black suit and tie, Syed Saddiq nodded silently and wiped away tears as the judgment was read. Once the verdict was delivered, he embraced his mother and father, Syed Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al-Sagoff, before performing sujud syukur &mdash; a prostration of gratitude &mdash; on the steps of the courtroom.
Present during the hearing was actress and singer Bella Astillah, a close friend of the family, who was seen seated with his relatives, wearing a floral blue baju kurung.
Legal Teams and Courtroom Proceedings
Syed Saddiq was represented by a formidable defence team comprising Datuk Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden and Datuk Hisyam Teh Poh Teik, while Deputy Public Prosecutors Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin and Farah Ezlin Yusop Khan led the prosecution.
The court has since ordered that his passport and bail money be returned. The Attorney General&rsquo;s Chambers has not yet confirmed whether it will seek to appeal the decision to the Federal Court.
Looking Forward: Redemption or Return?
For now, Syed Saddiq walks free with his name cleared and reputation restored. While it remains to be seen whether he will return to frontline politics or take time to regroup, his acquittal could open the door for a political comeback &mdash; especially among younger voters and reformists who had once seen him as a symbol of a new generation of leadership.
Whether this legal victory marks the end of his troubles or the beginning of a renewed political chapter, one thing is clear: the court&rsquo;s decision has not only vindicated Syed Saddiq, but also reignited discussions around prosecutorial fairness, judicial independence, and the fine line between politics and justice in Malaysia.
