Recently, a TikTok user, Surfine Hitech, shared a video featuring an individual who successfully passed the latest JPJ eTesting on their initial attempt. In the video, the teenager found themselves surrounded by media and journalists capturing the moment as they proudly posed with their newly acquired P license, a testament to their accomplishment through the innovative eTesting process.
The comments section was flooded with netizens expressing their opinions on the latest eTesting system. Unsurprisingly, a diverse range of reactions emerged regarding JPJ's recent implementation of eTesting. Some conveyed relief, having gone through the traditional testing process in the past, while acknowledging that the eTesting appeared demanding, leaving candidates with minimal room for error. Questions were also raised about the potential challenges of implementing eTesting on public roads.

What&rsquo;s eTesting And How Does It Work?

For those unfamiliar with the eTesting system, it allows driving school students to autonomously take tests in their private vehicles, with the monitoring by Road Transport Department (JPJ) officers taking place remotely. This forward-thinking approach is aimed at addressing corruption and improving efficiency in the testing process.
Making history, Muhammad Ridzwan Chum Abdullah became the inaugural individual in Malaysia to secure his P License through JPJ's eTesting. Notably, during his test, he had the company of Transport Minister Anthony Loke and senior JPJ officers on-site. No pressure, right?

Loke underscored that the eTesting system not only bolsters the integrity of the JPJ system (addressing concerns of bribery, as presumed) but also opens up greater accessibility for Malaysians seeking their driving examinations.
This cutting-edge system is poised to accommodate a significantly higher volume of testing candidates per day compared to traditional methods, simultaneously alleviating the workload on driving institute assessors. Moreover, candidates will now have the advantage of a complimentary second attempt on the same day and priority booking for test slots, offering a more user-friendly experience
No longer do we endure the era of waiting months for an exam slot or spending prolonged hours at the driving centre anticipating our turn.
At present, eTesting is in operation at three driving institutes, and an additional three institutes are in the approval stages for adopting the system. The ministry envisions a comprehensive implementation of the new eTesting system across all driving schools nationwide by 2030. They express confidence and optimism in the system's potential to revolutionize the issuance of driving licenses, enhance integrity, and provide improved monitoring capabilities.
A point worth highlighting is that the recently introduced eTesting system is currently applicable exclusively to cars. However, it remains uncertain whether this system will extend to cover all other classes of vehicles in the future. While the efficiency of the new system is undeniable, there is a collective hope among Malaysians that this innovation will contribute to enhancing the driving skills of our fellow netizens, considering our notorious reputation for having less-than-stellar drivers.
