If you've already mapped out your future travels and set a budget, you might need to adjust your financial plans a bit. That's because there have been recent updates to our airport systems that could affect your expenses when flying overseas.
Passengers To Fork Out Extra Money For Passenger Service Charges (PSC)

The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) has announced adjustments to the passenger service charges (PSC) for the First Regulatory Period (RP1), spanning from June 1, 2024, to December 31, 2026.
Under the revised rates for RP1, passengers departing from or transferring through Malaysia will now face PSC rates ranging from RM7 to RM73. These charges encompass a security fee for airport security services.
MAVCOM's executive chairman, Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim, explained that the updated rates aim to support the aviation industry's recovery post-COVID-19 while ensuring the financial viability of airport operators and maintaining affordability for passengers.
It's important to note that tariffs for aircraft landing and parking, as well as other aviation service charges (ASCs) like airport pass fees and airside vehicle permits, will be adjusted to accommodate inflation. MAVCOM has determined that these adjustments, based on Consumer Price Index escalations, are essential to accurately reflect cost changes.
Breakdown Of The Revised Rates:
Domestic Flights Within Malaysia

For domestic flights, the rates remain unchanged, with passengers continuing to pay RM11 for the PSC. However, at Senai International Airport, the PSC rates will increase to RM16. International flights departing from or transiting through Senai Airport may also incur charges of up to RM50.

The PSC fee varies depending on the departure airport. Passengers departing from KLIA Terminal 1 will incur a fee of RM73, while those departing from KLIA Terminal 2 or other airports will be charged RM50. This fee applies to both domestic and international flights, regardless of the destination within or beyond ASEAN.
Connecting Flights (Transferring Flight At Airports)

Navigating the end of the PSC can be tricky if you don&rsquo;t plan properly. For domestic connections, the fee is RM7. However, for connecting flights at KLIA Terminal 1, the fee is RM42, and for KLIA Terminal 2 and other airports, it amounts to RM29.

No Effect For Tickets That Have Been Purchased Before 1 June 2024

Fortunately, travellers who bought their tickets before June 1, 2024, will be exempt from the revised charges, even if their travel dates fall after this cutoff.
Now, this raises some serious questions: Is the government truly effective, or are they simply hiking prices across the board? If the latter is true, it's placing a significant burden on many Malaysians, forcing us to sacrifice our luxuries to cope with the soaring cost of living.

After ten years of making their mark on the Malaysian music scene &mdash; and in the playlists of countless fans across the region &mdash; pop-rock band Insomniacks are ready to take the stage for their first-ever solo concert. Titled Echoes of a Dream: Insomniacks Live in Concert, the event marks a significant milestone for the beloved group.

Insomniacks is a Malaysian pop-rock band that has rapidly emerged as one of the country's most beloved music acts, known for their emotionally charged lyrics, catchy melodies, and youthful energy. Formed in 2015, the band first gained attention by uploading cover songs on YouTube, showcasing their raw talent and chemistry. It wasn&rsquo;t long before they transitioned into crafting their own original sound, debuting with the heartfelt single &ldquo;Selalu&rdquo; in 2017 &mdash; a song that resonated deeply with listeners and was featured on the Astro Ria drama My Coffee Prince.

With multiple radio hits under their belt, including fan-favorites like &ldquo;Igauan Malam&rdquo;, &ldquo;Reminisensi&rdquo;, and &ldquo;Kepulanganmu&rdquo;, the band&rsquo;s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Today, the band comprises three members: frontman and lead guitarist Iqie (Syed Mir Iqbal), bassist and vocalist Wan Arif Iskandar, and rhythm guitarist and vocalist Danial Lee Hashim. Previously a quartet, drummer Gavin Wong departed the group in 2022.

More than a decade since audiences were first dazzled by sleight of hand and cinematic spectacle in Now You See Me, the franchise is poised for a thrilling return. The third instalment, Now You See Me: Now You Don&rsquo;t, promises the most audacious heist yet &mdash; blending the original gang of illusionists with a new wave of rising stars in a high-stakes battle against a dangerous criminal organisation.
The Original Horsemen Saddle Up Again

The film marks the long-awaited reunion of the core cast that captivated fans in the first instalment. Jesse Eisenberg returns as the cerebral and enigmatic J. With the addition of Pike and the blending of old and new talent, Now You See Me: Now You Don&rsquo;t is setting the stage for the series&rsquo; most complex battle yet.

As the timer hit zero, the display changed to reveal &ldquo;Now You Don&rsquo;t&rdquo; &mdash; and fans who had texted in received instant digital cash giveaways totalling $250,000, as well as exclusive access to the official trailer.
Newcomers Greenblatt, Smith, and Sessa appeared in person to help carry out what Lionsgate dubbed a visual &ldquo;heist,&rdquo; adding to the fanfare and bringing the energy of the franchise&rsquo;s big-screen illusions to real life. It was a fittingly dramatic entrance for a film built on misdirection and flair.
