Given the high cost of living and the perpetual traffic congestion on our roads, a growing number of Malaysians are turning to the public transportation services provided by RapidKL for their daily commute. While the majority of journeys are relatively smooth, punctuated only by the usual rush hour crowds—a familiar sight to many Malaysians—there are occasions when even our public transportation system encounters its own set of challenges.

In the accompanying caption for her short video, Mikeyla explained her predicament. Having boarded the last train of the day, she arrived at the Bukit Bintang MRT Station only to find her usual exit, Gate E, firmly locked. Shocked by the unexpected turn of events, she found herself at a loss, trying to determine her next course of action.
So, how did she manage to escape? Fortunately, in the comments section, she shared her experience. After realizing she was trapped, she shouted for help, and thankfully, another person came to her aid. They advised her to use the lift to exit the station safely. Admittedly, since it was her first time in such a situation, she hadn't considered using the lift and was initially hesitant, fearing it might stop midway.
Netizens Unlock A New Fear
At the time of writing, the video has gained over 62.7k views on TikTok, along with more than 4,000 likes. Interestingly, some netizens confessed that they would have been frightened if they found themselves in a similar predicament, prompting many to make it a habit to exit train stations before 11 pm. It's a reminder that emergency exits are available in such situations, offering an alternative route if ever caught inside a station after hours.
Here’s some of the comments:

When using public transportation, it's crucial to understand the distinction between the "last train" and the "station closing time." Station closing times typically range from 11:25 pm to 12:00 am at the latest, varying depending on the station. However, it's important to recognize that the last train departure time varies based on the line, ranging from 11:00 pm to 12:54 am.
For more information, you can check out the MRT Operation Hours on their official website.
If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, our top advice is to stay calm to avoid unnecessary stress. Additionally, don't hesitate to approach the station staff, who are typically available at the counter even after hours, for assistance.
