Do we have any fellow perfectionists in the house? When it comes to tidiness, it often feels like there are two types of people: the laissez-faire messy folks and the meticulous clean freaks. But you know what? There's beauty in finding that sweet spot in between &ndash; like achieving the perfect balance of yin and yang.
And then there are those who take organization to a whole new level, like Marie Kondo. With her quest for "the perfect state of tidiness," she's become a household name, renowned for her expertise in decluttering spaces and bringing a sense of harmony to homes everywhere.
Who Is Marie Kondo?

For those who don&rsquo;t know Marie Kindo, she is a renowned Japanese organising consultant, author and TV personality. She first gained fame for her unique KonMari method which emphasizes decluttering and organising items by category and only keeping those items that bring one &ldquo;joy&rdquo;.
She&rsquo;s also released books such as &ldquo;The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up,&rdquo; as well as having a Netflix series called &ldquo;Tidying Up with Marie Kondo,&rdquo; which has since inspired many to live a simple and minimalist life as their clean spaces can help promote happiness and maintain a good well-being.
Since her rise to fame, Marie Kondo's name continues to resonate in our minds, sparking curiosity about her current endeavours. Many of us find ourselves pondering: What has she been busy with lately?
Marie Kondo Doesn&rsquo;t Mind Mess &amp; Clutter Now
At 39 years old, Marie Kondo has discovered another source of joy in her life besides tidying: spending time with her children. In a candid revelation in 2023, she admitted to "kind of giving up" on her meticulous tidying habits following the birth of her third child. Embracing the beautiful chaos of motherhood, she confessed that her home has become "messy," and maintaining a perfectly tidy house is no longer her top priority.

When Marie Kondo initially launched her brand, she dedicated herself entirely to her work. Focused on spreading the message of finding joy through tidying up, she poured her energy into her book and promoting the core principles of the KonMari Method, which emphasize the importance of sparking joy in one's life.
However, with the presence of her children, her perspective shifted. She realized that maintaining a perfect state of tidiness wasn't her ultimate goal; rather, it was spending quality time with her kids. Her once stringent approach to organizing, where each item had its designated space, became more flexible.
Previously, she encouraged her children to neatly place plush toys in one box and musical items in another. But as kids will be kids, the inevitable mixing up of belongings during playtime led to a shift in mindset. Marie now finds satisfaction in simply ensuring that items are stored away, regardless of whether they're perfectly organized in designated boxes. She even revealed that she has designated a temporary area for unused items in her dining room, embracing a more relaxed approach to tidiness.
Shifting Her Follower's Mindset
Following her announcement, Marie Kondo's home became messier, prompting a wave of reactions from netizens online. Rather than expressing shock or betrayal, many found her situation relatable, resonating with the challenges of balancing tidiness amidst the chaos of daily life.

&ldquo;As my life stage has shifted, perhaps the same thing has been happening with my followers. It may not necessarily be with growing families; people may be really busy with work or they just aren&rsquo;t physically able to always be tidy,&rdquo; she said.
But despite of that, her following was certainly not affected due to the mindset shift. She also added that the main message of her Netflix series is that the protagonist in each story is going through a journey of tidying, but it does not mean that her life should be the same.
She ended by saying that she understands how her actions may project a certain image of her own lifestyle but those who are not necessarily always equal to her own personal level or threshold are something completely separate.
Now that's a sentiment we can all understand! There's a common joke about the concept of an "organized mess," where despite appearances, we somehow manage to locate our belongings amidst the chaos. It's a bit like delving into a woman's handbag&mdash;you never quite know what treasures you'll uncover!
All jokes aside, it's reassuring that Marie Kondo's fan base remains intact, especially as her current cleaning habits resonate with so many of us. Of course, there's always value in decluttering and letting go of things we no longer need. After all, none of us want to inadvertently become hoarders.
