Amidst Malaysia's ongoing economic challenges, it's evident that many Malaysians, regardless of their income bracket (well, maybe excluding the T20s), are grappling to make ends meet for themselves and their families.
With taxes on the rise, such as the SST increase from 6% to 8% on select goods, and the looming possibility of the government phasing out petrol subsidies, there's a palpable concern that this could catalyse a domino effect, leading to an overall surge in the cost of living.
Against this backdrop of financial strain, a recent viral post has captured attention. Images and videos depict bags of rice, canned sardines, and other essentials being set ablaze at a garbage dump in Termeloh, Pahang.

As reported in various online posts, the incident took place along a shortcut leading to the Rumpun Makmur-Kampung Gunung Senyum area, with the photos and videos mainly shared by passersby.
The footage vividly portrays hundreds of 10KG bags of rice and a significant quantity of canned sardines engulfed in flames, with some cans already charred black from the intense heat. Additionally, dozens of boxes and bags containing flour, rice vermicelli, as well as packs of tea and instant coffee, were found discarded at the scene. Perhaps most distressing of all, it appears that some of the products had yet to reach their expiration date and could have remained usable until 2025.
Who Was Responsible For Such An Irresponsible Act?

Initially, New Straits Times reported that no one had come forward to claim responsibility for the act but did mention that some food items had expired after being stored for too long. However, a social media user alleged that the act had been carried out by a politician who lost in the 15th General Elections and that the food items were intended to be distributed to flood victims in the Maran and Termeloh districts back in January.
Following the viral spread of the post online and the subsequent efforts by news agencies to uncover the culprit, former Kuala Krau Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Dr. Ismail Mohamed Siad stepped forward and admitted that he was the one responsible for discarding the food items in Termeloh.

Ismail acknowledged the concern and sensitivity of Malaysians upon witnessing the disposal of rice and other goods at the garbage site in the Rumpun Makmur &ndash; Kampung Gunung Senyum area, taking full responsibility for the action.
He explained that the rice and other food items constituted a reserve stock prepared in advance to meet public demand during his tenure as the Kuala Krau MP. Ismail clarified that the funding for these goods came solely from personal funds before the 15th General Elections in 2022, without any involvement of allocations from the federal or Pahang state government. He emphasized that MPs were prohibited from distributing items to the public during the campaign period.
Furthermore, Ismail clarified that the goods disposed of at the dump site were not part of the distribution efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic or preparations for flood relief.

In Ismail's media statement, a team dispatched to investigate the foul odour discovered mice carcasses in the kitchen storage area. The rice and other food items had been contaminated by weevils, rendering them unsuitable for distribution. Additionally, other goods were found to be unfit for consumption due to contamination.
&ldquo;Some rice bags were handed over to chicken and duck farmers in the surrounding area while the rest were discarded. I take full responsibility and deeply regret this matter. I Apologise to all parties for the mistake of discarding these food items,&rdquo; said Ismail.

Legendary Taiwanese boy band ENERGY is set to deliver an unforgettable performance as part of their highly anticipated "Imminent (一触即发)" world tour! This April, the five-member group will make their way to Malaysia for a night of iconic hits and thrilling stage energy that fans won't want to miss.
Having announced their reunion after a 15-year hiatus, ENERGY has already wowed audiences with recent performances in Singapore. Now, the group will take centre stage at Kuala Lumpur's Axiata Arena on 5th April 2025 (Saturday).
Who Is ENERGY?

Energy is a Taiwanese boy band that made its debut on July 12, 2002. The group consist of five members: leader Milk (Yeh Nai Wen), lead vocalist Edy (Hsiao Ching Hung), rapper and main dancer Toro (Kuo Wei Yun), vocalist and dancer KunDa (Hsieh Kun Da), and lead singer Shuwei (Chang Shu Wei). Energy quickly gained attention for their unique Rapcore sound, a blend of rap and rock elements that was relatively uncommon in the Mandopop scene at the time. Their energetic stage presence and intricate choreography drew comparisons to Korean boy bands, helping them stand out in the competitive music industry.
The group&rsquo;s discography features several iconic tracks that resonated with fans across Asia. Songs like "Let Go" (放手) and "Love Me for Another Day" (多爱我一天) became fan favourites, with the former showcasing their vibrant choreography and the latter highlighting their vocal harmonies. Another notable hit, "One Day" (某年某月某一天), became a popular ballad that demonstrated the group&rsquo;s versatility beyond high-energy performances. Albums such as Energy! Come On! and Invincible further solidified their place in the Mandopop industry, earning them a loyal fan base.

Despite their success, the group faced significant challenges with lineup changes. Toro departed in 2003 to pursue other opportunities, and Milk left the group in 2005. However, after years of activity, the group announced a hiatus in 2009, leaving fans uncertain about their future.
In January 2024, Energy surprised fans by reuniting with all five original members under B'in Music. This marked their highly anticipated return to the music scene after a 15-year hiatus. The reunion not only rekindled excitement among long-time fans but also introduced a new generation to their music. With plans for new releases and live performances, Energy's comeback represents a celebration of their legacy and a new chapter in their journey as one of Taiwan&rsquo;s most iconic boy bands.
