Have you checked out the latest Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Account 3?
In case you missed it, EPF has recently revamped its system and introduced a new Account 3 (Fleksibel) for members below 55 years old. This new account offers members the flexibility to withdraw funds whenever they need it. Account 3, which was launched on May 11th, will start from a balance of RM0. EPF members also have the option for a one-time transfer to shift funds from Account 2 (Sejahtera) to Account 3 (Fleksibel).

However, despite the promise of flexible withdrawals, reports have surfaced claiming that members can only withdraw up to RM250 per day. But is this claim accurate?
How To Withdraw Funds From Account 3?

EPF members may withdraw funds from Account 3 if there's sufficient balance. Account 3 starts with an initial balance of RM0, accumulating savings from subsequent contributions. Under the new restructuring, monthly EPF contributions are allocated as follows: 75% to Account 1 (Retirement), 15% to Account 2 (Well-being), and 10% to Account 3 (Flexi).
The minimum withdrawal amount is RM50, and applications can be made online via i-Akaun on the app, available on major app stores. For withdrawals exceeding RM250, an eKYC process is required, accessible online. If unable to complete eKYC online, verification can be done at EPF offices or Self-Service Terminals (SST) using thumbprints.
To do so, EPF has released a simple guide that users can follow:
Step 1: Login to your KWSP i-Akaun. Step 2: Tap withdrawal and select withdraw your savings. Step 3: Select Akaun Fleksible and select withdraw now. Step 4: Enter the desired amount that you want to withdraw then select continue. Step 5: Select &amp; update your banking details and select continue. Do note that the bank needs to be registered under your name. Step 6: Read through the Members Declaration and select Accept to continue. Step 7: Enter the TAC number and you&rsquo;ll be directed to a confirmation page indicating your application success.
Withdrawals from Account 3 don't necessitate any additional documentation, yet an operational bank account is necessary to facilitate the payment process. While physical presence for identity verification at offices isn't mandatory due to the availability of online options, this is contingent upon your withdrawal records and the sum requested, provided it's within RM30,000. In cases where there's no prior withdrawal history or if the bank account details differ, identity verification can be completed through two alternative methods:

<li>Thumbprint verification via Self-Service Terminal (SST) at any EPC office, for withdrawal application amount of more than RM10,000, OR</li>
<li>Online verification, subject to withdrawal application amount of less than RM10,000.</li>

If you've requested the one-time transfer of funds from Account 2 (Sejahtera) to Account 3 (Fleksibel), EPF has indicated that it will take 3-5 business days.
For those with enough funds in Account 3 who have applied for flexible withdrawal, the payment will be transferred to your designated bank account within 7 business days upon approval of the application.
Transferring Funds Into Account 3 Using The i-Akaun App
Aside from withdrawing funds from Account 3, there's also the option of executing a one-time transfer from Account 2 to the recently established account. To initiate this transfer, simply click on "Learn More" under the banner titled "Akaun Fleksibel: Meet today&rsquo;s goals, shape tomorrow&rsquo;s dreams".

Once you've accessed the introduction to the new structure, proceed by clicking "Next" and then the "Transfer Now" button. Following this, you'll encounter an important reminder that must be acknowledged before proceeding with the transaction.
Within the designated one-time transfer window, you have the flexibility to transfer funds from Account 2 to either Account 1 or Account 3. Additionally, you'll receive a detailed comparison of your Account 1, 2, and 3 balances before and after the transaction. Please be aware that EPF regulations prohibit users from transferring funds from Account 1 to any other accounts.

Furthermore, it's important to note that users do not have the option to select the amount of money they wish to transfer to Account 3, as it is predetermined by the system. Following this, you'll be prompted to finalize the Member's Declaration and click "Accept" after reviewing the terms. Finally, please allow for a processing time of approximately 3 to 5 working days before the transfer is completed.
While it's now possible to withdraw funds from Account 3, it's not recommended unless absolutely necessary. Given the current economic conditions, with the cost of living nearing an all-time high, many Malaysians are diligently saving and seeking additional sources of income whenever possible.
In our opinion and coming from MYC! CEO, Jason Ko, who is an ex-investment banker, he says that withdrawing funds from EPF Account 3 should be based on careful considerations of affordability and should only occur in life and death situations. He advocates for keeping wealth where it generates the highest interest, as deferred expenses can accumulate significantly over time. He emphasizes the principle with a quote: "if you never see it, you never have it," suggesting that out-of-sight funds help in wealth accumulation.

EPF withdrawals, however, are often spent on non-essential items such as gifts for family or holidays based on a few studies. Referencing the chart above on Malaysians' financial self-sufficiency, it's clear that a significant portion of financial challenges arise from inadequate financial assets. The chart reveals that 65% of EPF members have savings of less than RM50,000, and that 50% of former EPF members exhaust their savings within five years, highlighting the urgency for better financial planning and restraint in fund usage.

South Korea&rsquo;s popular holiday island of Jeju is facing growing scrutiny after four people who had previously been reported missing were found dead within just three days.
The discoveries have come amid a widening police scandal involving an officer who is accused of improperly closing missing-person cases without properly confirming the whereabouts or safety of those reported missing.
The situation has sparked public anger and renewed questions about how missing-person cases are handled in South Korea, with President Lee Jae Myung now calling for greater police accountability and reform.
Missing Woman Found 104 Days After Disappearance

One of the cases at the centre of the controversy involves 37-year-old Jang Mi-ran, who was reported missing in May.
Her case was allegedly closed by a police officer identified by the surname Bu, who reportedly told her family that he had contacted Jang and that she did not want her whereabouts disclosed.
Investigators later found no records supporting the officer's claim that he had spoken to her.
Jang's body was eventually discovered on 24 August, around 104 days after she disappeared, at a palm tree farm in Hallim-eup. The location was reportedly only around 400 metres from the accommodation where she had been staying.
Her remains were badly decomposed, meaning police were unable to identify her visually. Personal belongings, including a mobile phone and bracelet, as well as clothing believed to match what she was last wearing, helped investigators establish a preliminary identification.
An autopsy and forensic examinations are being carried out to confirm her identity and determine the cause and time of death.
Another Missing Man Also Found Dead

The same officer is also accused of improperly closing the missing-person case of a man in his 60s.
The man was reported missing in July, with his family later saying police had told them he was safe but did not wish to reveal his location. According to local reports, his family trusted the police's explanation and waited for him to return.
Instead, his body was found on 22 August, more than 50 days after he was reported missing. His family had filed another missing-person report after learning about Jang's case, prompting authorities to restart the search.
The man's son later expressed his frustration, saying the family had believed the police when they were told that his father was safe.
Two More Bodies Discovered On Jeju

Two other people reported missing were also found dead during the same period.
A person who had been reported missing was found near a valley in Aewol-eup on 24 August, while another man believed to be in his 70s was discovered in waters near Sinheung-ri the previous day.
The circumstances surrounding all four deaths remain under investigation.
Importantly, authorities have not linked the four deaths to one another, and there is currently no confirmed evidence that a serial killer or organised criminal group is operating on Jeju.
However, the unusual concentration of deaths, combined with the allegations against the police officer, has fuelled speculation and public anxiety online.
Officer Bu Accused Of Mishandling Hundreds Of Cases

Police are now reviewing 298 missing-person cases handled by Bu during roughly 17 months on Jeju.
He is accused of falsely claiming to have contacted missing individuals before closing their cases and removing them from the police missing-person profiling system.
Bu has denied the allegations, maintaining that he had contacted the two missing people whose cases are at the centre of the current investigation.
However, police said they have so far been unable to find records showing that those conversations took place.
He is facing allegations including dereliction of duty, falsifying and using official electronic records, and obstructing official duties by deception.
Four senior officers at Jeju Seobu Police Station have also been removed from their duties pending an internal investigation into whether there were failures in supervision and command.
South Korea Begins Wider Review

The controversy has now grown beyond Jeju.
South Korean authorities are reviewing whether similar problems may have occurred elsewhere, with police agencies in Seoul and Busan also examining previously closed missing-person reports.
The scrutiny comes as South Korea records tens of thousands of missing-person reports every year. Official figures show that more than 70,000 adults were reported missing in 2025, with the vast majority resolved within a month.
Experts have suggested that the high rate of quickly resolved cases may contribute to officers becoming less cautious when dealing with missing adults.
President Lee Calls For Police Reform

The scandal has reached the country's highest levels, with President Lee Jae Myung calling for stronger accountability within the police force.
He said the recent breakdown in police discipline and failures in public safety had become serious concerns, particularly as police are expected to take on greater investigative responsibilities following reforms to South Korea's criminal justice system.
The National Police Agency has since apologised over the handling of the cases and said it would strengthen safeguards for closing missing-person reports.
One proposed change would require senior officers to review the evidence and reasons for closing a case before it can officially be marked as resolved.
Jeju's Reputation Faces A New Challenge
Jeju is one of South Korea's most popular tourist destinations, known for its beaches, volcanic landscapes and quiet countryside.
The recent deaths, however, have prompted anxiety among some residents and tourists, with reports of people reconsidering or cancelling trips after the cases spread widely online.
While there is no evidence at present that Jeju is experiencing a wider wave of violent crime, the police scandal has nevertheless raised serious questions about public safety and the handling of vulnerable people.
For now, investigators are focused on determining how the four people died and whether further missing-person cases were mishandled.
With 298 cases under review, the full extent of the Jeju police scandal may take some time to emerge.

iPhone 18 Pro And Pro Max Expected

As always, these specifications, colours and design changes remain rumours until Apple officially announces them.
The Foldable iPhone Could Steal The Show

The biggest announcement could be Apple's long-rumoured first foldable iPhone.
The device has been referred to as the iPhone Ultra, iPhone Fold and iPhone Duo in various reports, although its official name remains unknown. Apple is expected to use a book-style foldable design, allowing the phone to open into a much larger display that could offer an experience closer to a small iPad.
Reports have suggested an outer display of around 5.5 inches and an inner screen of approximately 7.8 inches. The device could also be extremely thin when unfolded. Should it launch, the foldable iPhone would represent Apple's most significant change to the iPhone form factor since the introduction of the iPhone X in 2017.
It would also see Apple entering a foldable smartphone market that Samsung and several Chinese manufacturers have already established.
Malaysia Could Be Among The First Markets

For Malaysian Apple fans, the good news is that the wait may not be particularly long after the announcement.

However, Apple has yet to confirm the Malaysian pre-order or release dates.

TNG eWallet users now have another option when it comes to accessing financing, following a new partnership between TNG Digital and GXBank.
Through the integration, eligible users can now apply for GXBank FlexiCredit directly through the CashLoan feature in the TNG eWallet app, without having to open a separate GXBank bank account.
The move expands TNG eWallet&rsquo;s growing financial services ecosystem, giving its more than 27 million verified users access to another form of regulated financing through an app many already use for their daily transactions.
What Is GXBank FlexiCredit?

Unlike a conventional personal loan that gives you a fixed lump sum, FlexiCredit works as a revolving line of credit.
Once approved, users receive a credit limit of up to RM150,000, which they can draw from whenever they need it. Instead of borrowing the entire amount upfront, users only take out the money they require.
As the amount borrowed is repaid, the available credit limit is replenished, meaning users can access the remaining facility again without submitting a new application. GXBank says there are also no annual or processing fees, while interest is only charged on the amount actually drawn down.
Repayment periods range from six to 60 months, with flat interest rates starting from 3.78% per annum, equivalent to an effective interest rate of 6.45% per annum.
Apply Without Opening A New Bank Account

One of the main benefits of the new TNG eWallet integration is that eligible users do not need to open a separate GXBank account to apply.

TNG Digital and GXBank said the integration is aimed at making regulated financing more accessible, particularly for Malaysians who may have limited credit history or find traditional banking processes more difficult to navigate.
Who Can Apply For FlexiCredit?

However, approval is not guaranteed simply because someone meets the basic requirements.
The financing offer shown through CashLoan is determined based on the applicant's eligibility, requested amount and repayment period, as well as the bank's credit assessment and applicable regulatory requirements.
How To Apply Through TNG eWallet

The disaster struck the mountainous Rasuwa district in northern Nepal, close to the border with Tibet.
A sudden surge of water, mud and rocks swept into the Bhote Koshi River, devastating areas including Syabrubesi and Timure. Homes, vehicles and bridges were washed away, while roads, communications and electricity infrastructure were severely damaged.
A major border crossing at Gyirong Port on the Tibetan side was also hit by a mudslide, cutting road access as well as communications and power links.
Dramatic footage from the affected areas showed torrents of muddy water carrying vehicles and debris, with bridges and buildings collapsing under the force of the flood.
What Caused The Flash Flood?

Initial reports suggested that a 4.4-magnitude earthquake may have triggered an avalanche of ice and rock, which then blocked the Lhende Khola river before sending a huge volume of water downstream.

The US Geological Survey later said its analysis indicated that the seismic energy detected in the area was instead caused by a glacial collapse and debris flow, rather than an earthquake.
Experts from the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development have similarly pointed to a rock-and-ice avalanche in Nepal that may have blocked the river and caused the cascading flood.
The exact sequence of events is still being investigated.
17 Malaysians Among Hundreds Missing

The Malaysian Foreign Ministry said its embassy in Kathmandu was coordinating with local authorities to locate affected Malaysians and establish their safety.

Families trying to trace Malaysian travellers have been advised to provide relevant passport and travel details to the Malaysian Embassy for coordination with authorities.

TikTok Could Soon Let Users Send Money Through Peer-To-Peer Payments In DMs

Shopee users in Malaysia now have another way to pay for their online purchases, with Touch &rsquo;n Go eWallet (TNG eWallet) now supported through DuitNow QR.
The addition fulfils a long-standing request from Malaysian shoppers who have wanted to use their TNG eWallet balance directly when checking out on Shopee. However, there is a catch &mdash; TNG eWallet is not available as a direct payment option. Instead, shoppers will need to select DuitNow QR at checkout and complete the payment through the TNG eWallet app.
How To Pay For Shopee Purchases With TNG eWallet

The process is relatively straightforward.
When checking out on Shopee, users can select DuitNow QR as their preferred payment method. Shopee will then generate a QR code for the transaction.
From there, shoppers have two options. They can either save or take a screenshot of the QR code and open it through the TNG eWallet app, or use the app's Universal Scan feature to scan the code directly.
Once scanned, TNG eWallet will display the total payment amount along with Shopee Marketplace as the merchant. Users can then review the details and confirm the transaction to complete their purchase.
While it is not quite the seamless integration some users may have expected, the DuitNow QR option effectively allows TNG eWallet users to pay for Shopee purchases without having to rely on a card or online banking.
Interestingly, Shopee's payment information still lists Touch &rsquo;n Go and Boost as unsupported e-wallet payment methods, meaning DuitNow QR currently serves as the workaround for TNG eWallet users.
TNG eWallet Users Can Also Earn Cashback

The new payment option comes with another potential perk for shoppers.
Eligible users can earn 1% cashback on Shopee purchases through TNG eWallet's Shop &amp; Earn programme, with cashback capped at RM6.67 per order.
To qualify, shoppers need to enter Shopee through the Shop &amp; Earn page in the TNG eWallet app before making their purchase. Simply paying with TNG eWallet through DuitNow QR does not necessarily guarantee cashback if the required Shop &amp; Earn process is not followed.
Cashback is typically tracked within two days and confirmed within 14 days.
However, there are several exclusions shoppers should be aware of.
Which Shopee Purchases Are Not Eligible For Cashback?

According to TNG Digital, cashback does not apply to certain types of purchases and transactions.
These include:
<ul>
<li>Digital goods</li>
<li>Telco and utility payments</li>
<li>Vouchers</li>
<li>Travel bookings</li>
<li>Donations</li>
<li>Cinema and event purchases</li>
<li>Local services</li>
<li>Investments</li>
<li>ShopeePay Near Me transactions</li>
</ul>
Shopee LIVE products and streaming-priced items are also excluded, while purchases made using promo codes or vouchers that are not featured on the Shop &amp; Earn platform may not qualify.
Additional charges such as fees, taxes, service charges, shipping and delivery costs are also excluded from the cashback calculation.
As such, shoppers should check the Shop &amp; Earn terms before making a purchase if they are specifically shopping to earn cashback.
What Other Payment Methods Does Shopee Malaysia Support?

The addition of DuitNow QR gives Shopee users another payment option alongside its existing methods.
Shopee Malaysia currently supports payment methods including SPay, credit and debit cards, online banking, Google Pay, Apple Pay, cash-on-delivery (COD) and cash payments at selected physical payment locations.
For online banking, shoppers can choose from numerous participating banks, including Maybank, CIMB, RHB, Public Bank, Hong Leong Bank, HSBC, Bank Islam, Bank Rakyat, OCBC and UOB, among others.
Eligible shoppers can also access instalment plans through selected credit cards, while Shopee's SPayLater service provides a buy-now-pay-later option for users who meet the relevant eligibility requirements.
A Step Towards More Flexible Digital Payments
Although TNG eWallet has not been added as a standalone payment option on Shopee, its integration through DuitNow QR gives Malaysian shoppers more flexibility at checkout.
It also highlights how DuitNow QR is increasingly becoming a bridge between different digital payment platforms, allowing users to make payments across participating merchants and services without being tied to a single e-wallet ecosystem.
For regular Shopee shoppers who already keep money in their TNG eWallet, the new option offers another convenient way to pay &mdash; and potentially earn a little cashback along the way.

Shopee Malaysia Now Accepts TNG eWallet Payments Through DuitNow QR

Have you ever thought about becoming a YouTuber and turning your content into a source of income? You are far from alone.
Content creation has become an increasingly attractive career path, with millions turning to platforms such as YouTube to build audiences, personal brands and, eventually, make money. YouTube now has more than 3 million creators in its Partner Programme (YPP), while Shorts receives more than 200 billion views every day.
But for aspiring creators hoping to earn through advertising, the road to monetisation is about to get tougher.
YouTube Is Doubling The Grind For Ad Revenue

Starting 1 February 2027, new creators applying for YouTube's Partner Programme will need significantly higher viewing figures before they can access advertising and YouTube Premium revenue sharing.
Currently, creators need at least 1,000 subscribers and either:
<ul>
<li>4,000 qualified public watch hours in the past 12 months; or</li>
<li>10 million qualified Shorts views within 90 days.</li>
</ul>
Under the new requirements, those figures will double to:
<ul>
<li>8,000 qualified watch hours over the previous 365 days; or</li>
<li>20 million qualified Shorts views within 90 days.</li>
</ul>
The 1,000-subscriber requirement remains unchanged.
The new thresholds will only apply to creators joining YPP for advertising and Premium revenue. Existing YPP members will not be affected by the higher entry requirements.
YouTube said the changes mark its first significant overhaul of the Partner Programme requirements since 2018.
Shorts Creators Face A New Hurdle

The changes will also affect creators already earning from Shorts.
From February 2027, creators will need to maintain at least 10 million qualified Shorts views within a rolling 90-day period to remain eligible for Shorts advertising and subscription revenue sharing.
Those who fall below the threshold will remain in YPP and can continue earning from their long-form videos. Shorts revenue sharing will automatically resume once they cross the 10 million-view mark again.
YouTube said creators already generating significant revenue from Shorts are unlikely to be heavily affected.
Why Is YouTube Raising The Bar?

According to YouTube Vice President of Creator Products Amjad Hanif, the changes are designed to make Shorts revenue more "meaningful" for creators.
With the enormous growth of Shorts, YouTube says it wants to reward creators who consistently drive views, engagement and conversations on the platform.
However, for smaller creators, reaching 20 million Shorts views in 90 days or 8,000 watch hours in a year could make the journey towards ad monetisation considerably harder.
Smaller Creators Still Have Other Options
YouTube is not completely closing the door on smaller channels.
The requirements for Fan Funding and Shopping features will remain unchanged. Creators can still qualify for the lower YPP tier with:
<ul>
<li>500 subscribers</li>
<li>At least three public uploads within 90 days</li>
<li>Either 3,000 qualified watch hours in the past year or 3 million qualified Shorts views within 90 days</li>
</ul>
This tier does not provide advertising or YouTube Premium revenue, but allows eligible creators to access tools that let fans directly support their work.
YouTube is also planning new incentive programmes for creators who fall below the Shorts threshold, including potential bonuses through YouTube Shopping, incentives for brand deals and earnings boosts for creators who start or grow trends.
More details are expected to be announced later.
Premium Lite Could Open Another Revenue Stream

Alongside the monetisation changes, YouTube is expanding Premium Lite to all countries where full YouTube Premium is available.
Premium Lite offers uninterrupted viewing of most videos, as well as offline downloads and background playback, although it does not provide the same ad-free experience for YouTube Music.
The subscription will also contribute to a dedicated creator revenue pool. YouTube says 60% of net Premium Lite subscription revenue will go into this pool, compared with 30% for full Premium.
The money is then distributed according to subscriber watch time and views, with creators receiving 55% of allocated revenue from long-form videos and 45% from Shorts.
YouTube also expects to pay creators more in 2027 than it did in 2026.
The Creator Grind Is Getting Real
YouTube's changes reflect just how competitive the creator economy has become. With more than three million creators already in YPP and billions of daily Shorts views, simply going viral may no longer be enough to turn content into a steady income.
For aspiring YouTubers, the message is clear: building a consistent audience and keeping viewers engaged will matter more than ever.
The dream of making "YouTube money" is still alive &mdash; but from 2027, creators may have to grind a lot harder to get there.
