Recall the viral footage capturing members of a local car club casually preparing Maggi noodles on a gas stove at the popular Petron Station in Genting Highlands?
Following widespread condemnation and concerns over safety regulations sparked by the viral clip, authorities have diligently pursued the individuals involved in the incident.

Given Genting's ample space, critics have pointed out that the group could have easily chosen a different location for their gathering, one far safer for their impromptu cooking session. Given the highly flammable nature of petroleum, any misstep in such a scenario could have catastrophic consequences for the entire vicinity.
Individuals Charged For Disregarding Safety Procedures
It appears that the wishes of netizens have been granted, as today, four individuals&mdash;three women and one man&mdash;have faced charges at the Bentong court in Pahang. These individuals found themselves in the spotlight after a video of their cooking escapade at Genting.
Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar announced that the accused, aged between 23 and 24, will be charged under Section 336 of the Penal Code for endangering life or personal safety. Addressing social media rumours alleging familial ties to a deputy minister, he clarified, "None of them are offspring of any deputy ministers or VIPs."
A total of 15 individuals, comprising 10 men and 5 women aged 23-28, presented themselves at the Bentong district police headquarters to provide statements. Following the interrogation, 11 of them were released on police bail to serve as witnesses regarding the events surrounding the cooking activity at the petrol station.

During the court interrogation, Magistrate Nadhratun Naiem Zainan admonished the man and three women, "How could you even entertain the thought of cooking at a gas station? Did it not occur to you that there are oil tanks underneath? And then, you went ahead and posted it on social media."
Today, at the Bentong Magistrate's Court, the defendants, including real estate agent Nur Azira Azman, 23; food stall owner Fadhli Zil Ikram Sazalin Isran; customer service personnel Nur Fatin Irdina Shahrulnizam; and dental assistant Nur Anis Salleh, all aged 24, were formally charged under Section 336 of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 34 of the same Act.
Admitting guilt, all the defendants appealed for leniency in sentencing, citing familial responsibilities and their lack of prior convictions. Originating from Melaka, each defendant was subsequently fined RM500.
Of All Places Why Did They Pick Petron To Cook Their Instant Noodles?
During the court proceedings, the primary defendant, Fadhli Zil Ikram, acknowledged the error and explained to the court that originally, they intended to cook elsewhere but found it occupied.
Hence, they opted to cook in the gas station area, believing it was distant from the fuel nozzle and conveniently located en route to the restroom.
On the other hand, the secondary defendant, Nur Fatin Irdina, described the action as spontaneous due to hunger, overlooking the hazards present in the gas station vicinity.

To provide context to the image above, it's worth noting that the group could have easily congregated in the open car park located at the opposite end of the petrol station, which would have undoubtedly been a much safer option for their cooking activities.
&nbsp;Additionally, if that area happened to be occupied at the time of the incident around 1:30 am, there are numerous other locations in the highlands where they could have conducted their cooking without risking traffic obstruction or encountering potential hazards.

As of now, many netizens expressed surprise at how quickly the individuals were located. However, there was also significant criticism and questioning regarding why they received only a RM500 fine, with some suggesting that a more substantial penalty would have been more appropriate.
