Planning a trip around Kuala Lumpur this weekend with your best friends or family? Navigating KL always requires some pre-planning to figure out the best times to leave home and avoid the notorious traffic jams.
However, this weekend will be quite special and different due to the installation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th King of Malaysia. Consequently, several roads will be closed for the occasion.
Fourteen Roads To Be Closed In Stages

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa announced that 14 roads will be closed in stages to ensure the coronation ceremony proceeds smoothly. He advised road users to avoid these routes to prevent traffic congestion and to follow the instructions of the officers on duty. Additionally, he noted that 387 policemen will be deployed to escort VIPs and manage traffic.
Here&rsquo;s the list of roads affected:

<li>Jalan Raja Chulan</li>
<li>Jalan Ampang</li>
<li>Jalan Sultan Ismail</li>
<li>Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar</li>
<li>Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim</li>
<li>Jalan Semantan</li>
<li>Jalan Damansara</li>
<li>Jalan Istana</li>
<li>Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway</li>
<li>Jalan Kuching (south bound)</li>
<li>Dato Onn roundabout</li>
<li>Jalan Parlimen</li>
</ul>
Rusdi stated that the road closures will occur in stages, beginning at 8am for the installation ceremony and again at 8pm for the Royal Banquet. These closures are designed to ensure the timely arrival of royal guests. Once the guests have passed, the police will promptly reopen the roads.
