If you&rsquo;re active on social media, you&rsquo;ve likely come across various scams, especially with the increasing use of AI&mdash;whether for positive purposes or to harm someone's reputation. Malaysians aren&rsquo;t immune to these fake AI scams, as even our beloved celebrity food content creator and entrepreneur, Khairul Aming, recently became a target. He took to social media to raise awareness about the dangers of AI.
So, why did Khairul Aming speak out about AI? It turns out someone used AI to impersonate him, attempting to deceive his followers into buying products online.
In the fraudulent AI video, the imposter claimed that Khairul Aming&rsquo;s warehouse had been flooded and that he needed to sell frying pans to cover the losses and repair the damage.

In a video posted on his Instagram, Khairul Aming revealed that the voice in the fake video wasn&rsquo;t his, but was generated using AI. He noted that there are other fraudulent videos circulating online, falsely claiming that he&rsquo;s selling cooking pots, Apple watches, blenders, and more. He expressed concern that these fake videos have spiralled "out of control."
Khairul Aming urged his fans and followers to be cautious and aware of online scams, especially with the increasing misuse of AI. He also reminded everyone that the only products he sells are his popular Sambal Nyet and Dendeng Nyet.
Additionally, he emphasized how exhausting it already is to manage the sales of these products, and asked viewers not to be fooled by claims that he&rsquo;s selling gadgets.

Netizens Agree That AI Is Getting Out Of Hand
As the video went viral and many people fell for the scam, netizens expressed concern that these fake videos&mdash;featuring not just Khairul Aming&mdash;are getting out of hand. Many called on the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take action against them.
Some pointed out obvious signs that the video was fake, such as the fake Khairul Aming's voice not syncing properly at certain moments. However, they acknowledged that many people, especially older individuals who aren&rsquo;t as tech-savvy, might not notice these discrepancies.
Despite efforts by some netizens to report the scam video on Facebook, many shared that they received responses stating that the content didn&rsquo;t violate the platform's Community Standards.

Khairul Aming Warns Fans After Scammers Use AI To Create Fake Videos Of Him Selling Items

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) recently became the target of a significant cyberattack, with hackers attempting to infiltrate its digital infrastructure and demanding a ransom of US$10 million (~RM44.4 million). Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim disclosed the attack during the 218th Police Day celebration on 25 March, firmly rejecting the demand and stressing the importance of national security.

He emphasised that conceding to such demands would compromise Malaysia&rsquo;s security and expose the nation to further cyber threats from both local and international criminals.
Disruptions at Malaysia&rsquo;s Major Airports

Although the government has not disclosed the full extent of the breach, reports suggest that the cyberattack disrupted multiple key airport operations. Former Wangsa Maju MP Wee Choo Keong claimed in a social media post that Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2 faced technical disruptions, with flight details being manually updated on whiteboards, while check-in counters and baggage handling systems were also affected. However, these claims were contested by other social media users who shared images showing operational flight information display systems, casting doubt on the severity of the disruption.
