Who Is Taeyang?
Taeyang, born Dong Young-bae is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and member of the iconic K-pop group BIGBANG. Known for his soulful voice and exceptional dance skills, Taeyang has been a pivotal figure in the K-pop industry since his debut with BIGBANG in 2006. His journey into music began at a young age, driven by his passion and determination, which eventually led him to join YG Entertainment as a trainee. Although BIGBANG's success catapulted him to fame, Taeyang has also made significant strides as a solo artist.
He debuted as a solo artist in 2008 with the release of his first EP, Hot, which marked a shift from BIGBANG's hip-hop style to a more R&B-focused sound. The EP included hits like "Only Look at Me" and earned him the Best R&B/Soul Album at the Korean Music Awards. His first full-length album, Solar (2010), further established his solo career, featuring popular tracks like "I Need a Girl" and "Wedding Dress." However, it was his 2014 album Rise that truly solidified his status as a solo superstar, with the lead single "Eyes, Nose, Lips" becoming a massive hit, earning multiple awards, including Song of the Year at the Mnet Asian Music Awards.
Taeyang's influence extends beyond music; he is also known for his distinctive fashion sense and his role as a cultural icon in South Korea. Despite a hiatus due to his mandatory military service, Taeyang has continued to impact the music scene, recently returning with new music and concerts, much to the delight of his fans.
Details Of His Tour:
The South Korean superstar kicked off his ‘The Light Year’ tour in Seoul, where he delighted fans with a surprise BIGBANG reunion featuring G-Dragon and Daesung, setting the stage for an electrifying global tour.
Though he last performed in Malaysia at the 2023 Borneo Sonic Music Festival in Sarawak, Taeyang’s fans have been eagerly awaiting a solo concert in Malaysia for seven years, with his previous solo performance being the memorable ‘White Night World Tour’ in 2017.
Taeyang, now with his new agency The Black Label—a sister company of YG Entertainment—has just unveiled his latest tour on social media. Fans can look forward to his highly anticipated performance at Axiata Arena on 7 December 2024, presented by Live Nation Malaysia and Fream Factory Entertainment.
