Let&rsquo;s be honest&mdash;sometimes we miss the old days of carrying physical documents. It often feels more convenient to have them on hand rather than needing to log into an app just to display them.
While the convenience of handling tasks online, like renewing road tax, driving licenses, and passports, is undeniable, juggling multiple apps can be a challenge&mdash;especially when it comes to remembering passwords. One app that many Malaysians have turned to in line with the nation&rsquo;s digitalisation efforts is the MyJPJ app, which allows users to display their driving license and vehicle road tax digitally.
However, there&rsquo;s a significant update that all users should be aware of to avoid any issues at upcoming roadblocks or even when checking in at a security post.
MyJPJ App Requires Users To Login With MyDigital ID
If you've recently opened the MyJPJ app, you may have noticed an announcement stating that users will soon be required to create a MyDigital ID account to log in to the app moving forward.

The displayed message indicates that starting from October 10, 2024, logging in will require a MyDigital ID account. Users who do not register for a MyDigital ID will be unable to access the MyJPJ app after this date.
"From October 10, 2024, a single login using MyDigital ID will be mandatory. We recommend registering on the MyDigital ID app as soon as possible to avoid login issues," states the announcement on the MyJPJ application.
To assist users, JPJ has included a button that links to the MyDigital ID app, available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Since the MyDigital ID and MyJPJ applications are government services, it&rsquo;s reasonable to assume that other government-related apps would follow a similar login process. However, upon reviewing the MySejahtera app, there hasn&rsquo;t been any announcement regarding this requirement, though it does offer options to log in using your phone number or MyDigital ID. It's important to note that the MyDigital ID login has not yet been made universally mandatory.
What Exactly Is MyDigital ID?
For those unfamiliar, MyDigital ID is an app designed to serve as an authentication method, streamlining access to various government digital services while enhancing the security of online transactions. On December 1, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim became the first person in Malaysia to register for the National Digital Identity, marking a significant milestone in the country's digital identification initiative.

Moreover, using MyDigital ID on government portals ensures secure transactions through a cryptography-based system that has received General Criteria Certification with EAL3+ recognition at the international level. Additionally, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) has noted that this system is also utilized in several other countries, including Estonia, India, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Citizens in Malaysia can use this digital identity for a variety of transactions, including:

<li>After submitting your selfie, you&rsquo;ll receive a confirmation message indicating that the EKYC (electronic know-your-customer) process is complete.</li>
</ul>
Step 8: Choose Your Password

<li>Set your password for MyDigital ID.</li>
</ul>
Step 9: Save Your Digital ID
<ul>
<li>You&rsquo;ll be prompted with the message: "Adakah anda mahu menyimpan Digital ID dalam peranti ini?" (Do you want to store the Digital ID on this device?).</li>
<li>Click "OK."</li>
</ul>
Step 10: Confirmation and Expiry
<ul>
<li>&nbsp;You&rsquo;ll receive a message in the national language confirming that your digital ID is ready to use.</li>
<li>The app will also display the expiration date of your MyDigital ID, which is valid for one year. (You&rsquo;ll be able to renew it after it expires.)</li>

Step 11: QR Code Scanning

Singapore will be acquiring two plots of land currently owned by the Malaysian government as part of its ambitious redevelopment plan for the Woodlands Checkpoint &mdash; one of the busiest land border crossings in the world. A fatal accident involving a Taiwanese man who fell onto the Light Rail Transit (LRT) tracks at Pusat Bandar Puchong has prompted renewed scrutiny over safety standards at Malaysia&rsquo;s public transport hubs. Transport Minister Anthony Loke has since instructed Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, the LRT system operator, to accelerate the installation of platform screen doors across all LRT stations to prevent similar tragedies.
Evening Commute Turns Tragic

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 6.05pm and swiftly deployed a team from the Subang Jaya fire station.
According to Assistant Director of Operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, the man was found unconscious beneath the train tracks and was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial confusion surrounded his identity and the circumstances of the incident, but authorities later confirmed his nationality and retrieved his passport from the scene.
CCTV Footage Points to Accident

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been informed to coordinate with the Taiwanese embassy to assist in notifying and supporting the victim&rsquo;s next of kin.

The main event kicks off 12 and 13 July at The Pickle Grounds, One World Hotel, with Mixed Doubles and Men&rsquo;s Doubles categories open to Novice-level players (defined as a DUPR rating below 3.25). Each of the five participating universities will send six teams per category, turning the weekend into a showdown of pride, skill, and hopefully not too many unforced errors.

What began as an ordinary late-night drive through the streets of George Town turned into a terrifying ordeal for a young woman, after a confrontation on the road allegedly escalated into a violent and humiliating assault involving a firearm. The alleged assailant? A man bearing the prestigious title of &lsquo;Datuk Seri&rsquo;.
The shocking incident, which unfolded in the early hours of 1 June, has not only sparked public outrage but also raised troubling questions about the ease with which influential individuals in Malaysia obtain and wield firearms &mdash; sometimes, quite literally, against unarmed members of the public.
Pistol Allegedly Shoved Into Victim&rsquo;s Mouth

According to the police report filed by the 28-year-old victim, the confrontation escalated rapidly and turned violent. The suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time. He is said to have brandished a gold-coloured pistol and, in a deeply disturbing act of aggression and humiliation, forced the weapon into the woman's mouth.
He then allegedly pistol-whipped her, using the grip of the firearm to strike her face, causing severe injuries. The suspect also reportedly punched her repeatedly in the face using both the weapon and his bare hands. The victim sustained a broken nose and bruising around her left eye as a result of the attack.
Following the incident, she received emergency treatment at Penang General Hospital before filing a formal complaint with the Northeast District Police at 5.57pm the same day.
Suspect Turns Himself In, Firearm and Licence Confiscated

Two days after the violent episode, on 3 June, the suspect turned himself in at the Northeast District Police Headquarters at approximately 9.30am. Police confirmed that he was taken into custody and that a pistol, its magazine, and his licence to possess the weapon and ammunition were seized as part of the investigation.
Northeast District Police Chief, ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad, confirmed the details in an official statement. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon, and Section 34 of the Arms Act 1960, which prohibits the use or possession of firearms while intoxicated.

&ldquo;To ensure fair access for genuine fans, all voided tickets will be re-released for public sale on 6th June 2025 at 2:00 PM,&rdquo; read the statement. In total, 254 tickets will be made available across the two concert dates:

Several fans have also pointed out the sheer scale of the venue &mdash; Axiata Arena has a capacity of approximately 16,000. As such, many believe there should be significantly more tickets available or reallocated, especially considering the speed with which tickets sold out during the initial sale.

Amid the confusion, rumours have spread that a portion of high-demand tickets were distributed internally or to individuals with special connections. Although Star Planet did not directly address this concern, it did attempt to reassure the public, stating in its Facebook post that &ldquo;a substantial portion of tickets were indeed purchased by genuine fans.&rdquo;
The organiser was also quick to deny any affiliations with third-party sellers or unauthorised distributors. It reiterated that BookMyShow is the sole official platform for ticket purchases and warned fans that buying from scalpers or unverified sources could result in denied entry.
&ldquo;We would like to firmly reiterate that the organisers have no affiliation or collaboration with any individuals or unauthorised channels for ticket sales,&rdquo; the statement read. &ldquo;We strongly urge fans not to purchase from scalpers or unauthorised sources &mdash; doing so risks denied entry and undermines fair access for all.&rdquo;
Fans Demand Transparency as Tensions Mount
Social media platforms have since been flooded with calls for greater transparency and accountability. Some fans are demanding a full audit of ticket sales, while others are calling for the release of additional tickets or at least an explanation regarding the low number of reissued seats. Several prominent fan accounts have also called for Star Planet to conduct an external review to restore public trust.
While some concertgoers have accepted the organiser&rsquo;s explanation, many feel that more must be done to ensure fair access, particularly for dedicated fans who lost out due to the scalping fiasco.
