TGI Fridays Malaysia Unaffected By The Bankruptcy Filing

In response to online discussions about the restaurant's future, TGI Fridays Malaysia has reassured its loyal customers that all franchise locations in Malaysia are unaffected by the recent bankruptcy filing and will continue to operate as usual. Craveat International Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Techna-X Bhd, serves as the master franchisee and developer for TGI Fridays in Malaysia.
TGI Fridays Malaysia clarified in a statement that Craveat International operates under a franchise agreement with TGI Fridays Franchisor, LLC, which is distinct from TGI Fridays Inc. and not impacted by the restructuring in the US. TGI Fridays Franchisor, LLC currently franchises the brand to 56 franchisees across 41 countries, with each franchise location, both domestic and international, operating independently and not included in the Chapter 11 filing.
To ensure seamless operations, TGI Fridays Franchisor, LLC has established a Transition Services Agreement to provide ongoing support to franchisees worldwide, including those in Malaysia. Additionally, TGI Fridays Malaysia is excited to announce the upcoming opening of a new outlet in Mid Valley Megamall this month, as well as the reopening of their Sunway Pyramid outlet in December, with plans for another new location in Putrajaya by 2025.

Let&rsquo;s hope such incidents are not repeated in the future. Prior to this event, the Malaysian eSports Federation (MESF) had strongly condemned two earlier incidents involving disrespect toward the Malaysian flag by members of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) eSports community.&nbsp; 
In the first case, American MLBB player Michael "MobaZane" Cosgun posted a video on Instagram featuring the word &ldquo;noob&rdquo; pointing to a graphic of the Jalur Gemilang. MESF described this act as a serious insult to Malaysia&rsquo;s national symbol, emphasizing its condemnation in a Facebook post on November 17. The term &ldquo;noob,&rdquo; commonly used derogatorily in gaming, further highlighted the disrespect shown toward the flag.&nbsp; 
In the second incident, the MLBB Professional League Indonesia (MPLID) shared a distorted version of the Jalur Gemilang on its official Instagram page, featuring only 11 red and blue stripes. The graphic was intended to celebrate Malaysia&rsquo;s 2-1 victory over Indonesia in the World eSports Championships semi-finals. MESF condemned this incorrect representation, stating that it undermines professionalism and the integrity of international events.&nbsp; 
These repeated instances underscore the need for greater awareness and responsibility when it comes to respecting national symbols in all areas of competitive sports.

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has unveiled its updated Retirement Income Adequacy (RIA) framework, setting new savings benchmarks to ensure Malaysians can achieve financial security in their retirement years. The revised benchmarks outline three tiers of retirement savings: RM390,000 for essential needs, RM650,000 for a comfortable standard of living, and RM1.3 million for a luxury lifestyle.
These benchmarks are based on a 20-year withdrawal plan, reflecting Malaysia&rsquo;s average life expectancy. EPF Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn explained that the framework considers rising living costs and is supported by the Belanjawanku guide, a comprehensive resource estimating monthly expenses for a decent standard of living.
Monthly Withdrawal Benchmarks Over 20 Years:
Essential Tier (RM390,000):

CHAGEE Malaysia, a well-known milk tea chain from Yunnan, China, found itself in hot water after allegations of misconduct during its recent "Tear &amp; Win" lucky draw campaign. The event, held on 16 and 17 November to celebrate the brand&rsquo;s seventh anniversary, gave customers a chance to win luxury prizes, including Gucci and Louis Vuitton handbags, Apple products, and lipsticks. To participate, customers needed to purchase selected drinks and tear open the bottom segment of their cups to reveal their prizes.
However, the celebration turned sour when a TikTok video went viral, showing a CHAGEE employee allegedly sorting cups believed to contain prizes. The 47-second clip depicted the employee shaking and inspecting each cup before setting certain ones aside. Adding to the suspicion, another video surfaced, showing the same employee transferring several cups to the back of the store, which many netizens interpreted as evidence of unfair practices.
