Changi Airport has once again made headlines, but this time it&rsquo;s due to an unforgettable experience a Malaysian woman had with the famous tube slide in Terminal 4&mdash;one that left her with a memory she&rsquo;d rather not relive.
M&rsquo;sian Breaks Leg At Infamous Terminal 4 Tube Slide 
On the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu (XHS), user Mi Zi shared her unfortunate experience of breaking not one, but two bones in her right leg after a ride down the Terminal 4 slide on Monday, November 4th.

After spending three days in Singapore, Mi Zi and her friends were waiting to board their return flight to Malaysia. With some time to spare, they remembered the highly rated slide in Terminal 4, a popular attraction for passengers passing the time before their flights.
On her first ride down, Mi Zi found the slide thrilling but noticed that its sharp turns seemed risky as she picked up considerable speed. She also mentioned that her calves were rubbing against the slide&rsquo;s sides due to friction, which felt uncomfortable.
At first, she assumed that her skirt was causing the friction rather than her new running shoes. To address this, she decided to secure her skirt with her hands and leave her phone behind for the second attempt, hoping for a smoother ride.
Unfortunately, on her second trip down, things took a sudden turn. In a video posted on XHS, a loud thud can be heard&mdash;this was the moment her right calf collided with the side of the slide. Mi Zi described it as her "legs and body moving in opposite directions," marking the start of a painful ordeal.
Rushed To The Hospital For Treatment

On her second trip down, Mi Zi realized that her new shoes&rsquo; anti-slip soles were causing her legs to stick to the slide as she descended, creating resistance that led to a painful outcome. At the bottom, she found herself unable to stand and immediately cried out for help.
One of her friends quickly sought assistance from airport staff, and after about 15 minutes, a staff member arrived to assess her condition. After some time, another staff member brought ice for her injury, and a doctor arrived around 45 minutes after the incident, administering painkillers to help manage the pain.
An hour later, Mi Zi was finally taken to Singapore General Hospital, arriving there around 9:30 p.m.
Leg Was Left &lsquo;Severely Injured&rsquo;

In the later part of the clip, Mi Zi shared that the incident left her with &ldquo;severe&rdquo; injuries, as she had broken two bones in her right leg. She mentioned needing to wait five to seven days for the swelling to go down.
Additionally, she will need surgery, with doctors planning to install steel plates and secure screws in her leg. She has been relying on painkillers and analgesic injections to manage the pain. As of November 5, her medical bills had already exceeded S$560 (approx. RM1,850), and this amount is expected to rise when she returns to Malaysia for the required surgery. Mi Zi also mentioned that she reached out to Changi Airport Group (CAG) through their online feedback form and is currently awaiting their response.
It seems that the next time you're at Changi, it might be wise to skip the slide, as this isn't the first incident of someone getting injured while using it. On a related note, it's a good reminder of the importance of purchasing travel insurance&mdash;or even general insurance&mdash;when travelling abroad. This way, injuries like these can be covered, depending on the terms of your policy.

23 Y.O M’sian Breaks Leg After Riding Infamous Changi Airport Terminal 4 Slide

A 23-year-old university student has raised concerns about an unexpected RM5 charge she encountered when collecting her renewed passport, which she had already paid for online. The incident occurred at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) in Galleri@Kotaraya, Johor Bahru, on November 26.
The student, who wishes to remain anonymous, claimed that a female immigration officer handed her the passport and requested an additional RM5 payment. Unprepared for the charge, the student explained she didn&rsquo;t have cash on hand and was instructed to pay via a QR code. To her surprise, the transaction revealed that the money was directed to a personal bank account instead of an official government account.
"I was slightly dazed as I believed all payments were already settled online," the student said. She noted that she hadn&rsquo;t requested the plastic cover included with her passport and wasn&rsquo;t informed about the fee beforehand.
Although the RM5 amount was minimal, the student emphasized her stance against any misuse of power or malpractice, regardless of the sum involved.
Immigration Department Explains the RM5 Charge

Following the student's claims, Johor Immigration Department director Datuk Rusdi Mod Darus clarified the situation. He explained that the RM5 was a legitimate fee for the plastic protective cover provided with the passport.
According to Datuk Rusdi, a thorough internal investigation revealed no evidence of misconduct or integrity violations. He stated that the RM5 payment was correctly deposited into the Johor Immigration Sports Charity Club&rsquo;s official account, not a personal one.
However, the department acknowledged the confusion caused by the payment method. "To enhance transparency and public confidence, we will implement changes to our payment system. Moving forward, all payments related to club activities will be processed through an official account managed by the club," Datuk Rusdi said.

While the officer could have been clearer about the RM5 payment, especially regarding the banking details, it's encouraging to see that steps are being taken to improve transparency and ensure public understanding.
