Malaysia's e-hailing market is about to take an innovative turn as GV Ride (GVR) prepares to introduce electric vehicle (EV) services starting next month. This makes GVR the first e-hailing company in the country to champion EV adoption, setting a new benchmark for the industry.
Launched under the ownership of GV Car Ventures Sdn Bhd (GVV), one of 30 companies registered with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), the platform began its pre-operations in September and has already gained attention for its competitive edge and unique offerings.
<h3>A Bold Start with 2,500 EV Units</h3>

&ldquo;We will begin in the Klang Valley, considering that EV charging stations are not yet widespread in other states,&rdquo; said Maand.
To secure the first phase of EV integration, the company is negotiating with suppliers from China. &ldquo;This is part of our efforts to expand the business while promoting EV adoption in the e-hailing industry,&rdquo; Maand added.
Official Launch and Industry Support

The app was officially launched last week in a ceremony officiated by Ng Sze Han, Selangor's state executive council member for investment, trade, and mobility. &ldquo;E-hailing services are a crucial component that complements the country's transportation ecosystem alongside rail, buses, and private vehicles. We are delighted to see another local e-hailing company stepping up to serve the people,&rdquo; said Ng.
In conjunction with the launch, GVV signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with several partners:

Additionally, in celebration of its official launch and EV-focused expansion, GV Ride is offering one million free rides, valued at RM15 or less, to attract new users and showcase its services.

Recently, Valve shocked gamers after significantly increasing Steam Deck OLED prices in North America.
The 512GB OLED model reportedly jumped from US$549 (around RM2,180) to US$789 (around RM3,134), while the 1TB OLED version increased from US$649 (around RM2,578) to a staggering US$949 (around RM3,769).
That means some buyers are now paying nearly RM1,200 more for the exact same device.
Valve explained that the Steam Deck itself has not changed, saying the price increases were caused by rising component costs, memory shortages and wider global logistical issues affecting the tech industry.
The growing demand for hardware from AI companies and data centres has also reportedly contributed to the ongoing shortages involving RAM and NAND storage components.
Even With Higher Prices, The Steam Deck Keeps Selling Out

Valve&rsquo;s Steam store now warns that availability may fluctuate due to memory and storage shortages, with some countries seeing limited stock windows. While North America quickly ran out of units, the Steam Deck remains available in selected regions including parts of Europe, Australia and Asia through Valve&rsquo;s partner distributors.
The continued demand shows just how strong the handheld gaming market has become, especially among gamers looking for a more flexible way to enjoy PC gaming without needing a full desktop setup.

Malaysians are no strangers to delays, technical faults, and sudden service interruptions involving the Klang Valley&rsquo;s public rail system.
However, commuters were left stunned on Thursday morning after an actual train derailment occurred near the Chan Sow Lin LRT Station, causing major disruptions along the Ampang and Sri Petaling LRT lines during rush hour.
The incident quickly sparked concern online, with many commuters questioning the reliability and safety of the country&rsquo;s rail infrastructure after videos and photos of passengers walking along the tracks began circulating across social media.
Train Derailed During Track Switch Operation

Anthony Loke Orders Immediate Investigation

Following the incident, Transport Minister Anthony Loke ordered the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to immediately launch a full investigation into the derailment.

He confirmed that APAD has already opened an investigation paper while a special task force has been established to determine the root cause of the incident.

According to Wong, the ministry did not address the letter to him directly and no explanation or phone call was provided regarding the decision.
He described the termination as a &ldquo;curious anomaly&rdquo;, especially after helping steer the government-linked financial institution back into profitability during his three-year tenure.
Removal Comes Days After MyKhas Portal Access Was Allegedly Blocked

Despite the abrupt ending to his tenure, Wong said he has &ldquo;absolutely no regrets&rdquo; about his three years at MDV.

According to him, MDV&rsquo;s turnaround demonstrated that government-linked companies and government-linked investment companies could recover successfully if proper governance structures and transparency measures were put in place.

Online discussions intensified after screenshots began circulating <a href="https://x.com/MY_btsarmy/status/2058898210694066560">on social media</a> allegedly showing a local influencer promoting CAT1 and VIP tickets ahead of the official ticket release dates. According to the concert schedule, the earliest presale phase is only expected to begin on 3 June 2026.
Several screenshots shared online also appeared to show fans messaging the influencer to ask whether the tickets being offered were genuine. In one alleged reply, the influencer reportedly claimed that the tickets were legitimate and insisted they would not be involved in illegal activity.
The original social media post has since reportedly been deleted.
Fans Frustrated Over Fairness and Scalping Concerns

The controversy has sparked frustration among Malaysian BTS fans, many of whom are worried about fairness in the ticketing process.

Live Nation Malaysia Warns Fans Over Fake Tickets

Amid the growing uproar, Live Nation Malaysia managing director Paramananthan Rajagopal warned fans not to trust claims involving privately distributed tickets circulating online.
He said scammers often attempt to gain credibility by claiming they have insider access or exclusive allocations in order to deceive buyers.
According to him, similar situations have occurred during previous large-scale concerts, with many transactions taking place online and becoming difficult to track.
He also explained that some individuals may only possess a handful of tickets but falsely claim to have dozens available in order to attract desperate buyers.
Fans were reminded to only purchase tickets through official and authorised ticketing platforms to avoid becoming victims of scams.
Malaysia Launches New &lsquo;Beli Tiket Selamat&rsquo; Campaign

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Communications together with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and industry players, aims to combat fake ticket sales and improve consumer protection within the live events industry.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the campaign was launched in response to the increasing number of fraudulent ticket advertisements appearing on social media and messaging platforms, especially after major concerts are announced or sold out.
He also warned that scammers are now using artificial intelligence (AI), including manipulated voices and faces, to make fake ticket listings appear more convincing.
New Portal to Help Fans Verify Ticket Legitimacy

The portal and online helpdesk are expected to fully launch within the coming weeks and will run as part of a 24-month national campaign until 2027.
Future concert tickets issued by authorised vendors in Malaysia are also expected to feature BTS advisory messages encouraging fans to purchase only from verified platforms.
Additionally, selected event venues will feature physical BTS help desks where scam victims can obtain a reference number, receive a pre-filled National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) report, and be guided on the next steps within approximately 15 minutes.
Authorities said the initiative is not intended to replace agencies such as the NSRC or police commercial crime units, but rather to strengthen existing enforcement efforts through faster intelligence sharing and improved coordination.

As excitement builds for BTS&rsquo; return to Kuala Lumpur, many fans are now hoping the latest controversy will push organisers and authorities towards a more transparent and secure ticketing process.
