In a shocking turn of events on 8th January 2025, fashion designers Razman Razmi were attacked at the &ldquo;Nona Superwoman Award&rdquo; ceremony in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The incident, which occurred during the event's festivities, saw the duo assaulted by a male photographer with a camera. The attack left the two designers with facial injuries, and they quickly sought medical treatment.

Razman recounted that they had a long-standing relationship with the photographer, whom they considered a friend, even selling him the car at a price far below the market value. The car was seven years old, and despite the minor issues, it was still functioning when checked. However, after the breakdown, the photographer left the vehicle by the roadside and insisted on being refunded the full RM20,000.

Despite facing financial challenges due to the pandemic, Razman and Razmi attempted to settle the debt, gradually paying off RM6,000. The pair even met the photographer in December 2024 at an event, where Razman offered him RM300 to help alleviate the situation. However, what was expected to be a routine meeting turned violent when the photographer launched an unexpected attack during the award ceremony.
Razman described the moment as a shock, as he initially thought the photographer was simply approaching to greet them. Instead, the man struck the designers with his camera, causing significant facial injuries. Razman, who briefly lost consciousness, revealed that his injuries could have required stitches, but doctors only used adhesive to treat the wound.

Jelas Razman lagi, mereka mengaku bahawa masih belum menyelesaikan lagi hutang tersebut namun sudah membayar sekitar RM6,000 dari jumlah sebenar. Tambahnya, dia pernah meminta untuk membayar wang tersebut sedikit demi sedikit dan jurukamera terbabit boleh sahaja mencari mereka untuk meminta baki wang tersebut. &ldquo;Benar jumlah tersebut masih belum kami selesaikan. Anggaran sehingga kini kami telah membayar dia dengan jumlah RM6,000. &ldquo;Tetapi kami tidak pernah lari. Dia boleh sahaja cari kami dan minta duit. Malah sebelum ini jika dia minta kami akan bayar sedikit demi sedikit. Kami juga berikan wang apabila dia mengadu tentang masalah kewangan,&rdquo; katanya. Dalam pada itu, dia memaklumkan jurukamera tersebut sudah dianggap sebagai adik dan tidak sangka dia tergamak melakukan hal sedemikian rupa. &ldquo;Kami sudah lama kenal dia dan banyak beri peluang untuk dia bekerjasama dengan ramai selebriti. Dia seorang yang baik dan tak pernah tinggal solat. &ldquo;Kami anggap dia seperti seorang adik. Kami bimbang kes ini akan beri kesan kepada perniagaannya &ldquo;Saya pun tidak tahu kenapa dia boleh menyerang sebegitu. Memang rasa terkejut ketika kejadian dan saya tidak sedar apa yang berlaku selepas itu. &ldquo;Sekarang ini saya serahkan semuanya kepada pihak polis. He also noted that the photographer&rsquo;s behaviour seemed unusual that night. He appeared to be smiling at first, but his demeanour suddenly shifted, with his eyes bulging, leading Razman to suspect he might have been under the influence of substances. While Razman initially hoped to avoid further legal action, he was advised to pursue it due to the seriousness of the attack, particularly as it took place at a public event attended by prominent figures, including the Queen of Selangor.
Legal Action and Police Involvement

The freelance photographer, Muhammad Imran Khairil, was arrested on the spot and was remanded for two days. On 10th January (today), he was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine, or whipping. Two charges were filed, alleging that Imran had injured both Razman, 47, and Razmi, 53, during the attack. The photographer pleaded not guilty and claimed his intention to contest the charges in court.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Husna Amran initially requested bail of RM8,000 for each charge, citing the gravity of the offence. However, defence lawyer Datuk Suraj Singh appealed for a lower amount, highlighting Imran&rsquo;s unstable income as a freelance photographer and emphasising his cooperation with the authorities. The court set bail at RM3,500 for each charge with one surety and imposed conditions prohibiting Imran from contacting or harassing the victims until the case concludes.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions among netizens. Some feel that Razman and Razmi should have settled the debt given their financial situation, while others express concern over the photographer&rsquo;s violent tendencies. Police have also confiscated the camera used in the assault as evidence. Both Razman and Razmi are working closely with the authorities as the legal proceedings continue, determined to seek justice for the traumatic ordeal. The trial is set to proceed with the submission of documents scheduled for 28th February 2025.
