We&rsquo;ve just wrapped up our long Chinese New Year weekend, and another public holiday is already on the horizon&mdash;Thaipusam on 11 February.

Free KTM Rides on 10 &amp; 11 February

In conjunction with Thaipusam 2025, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is offering free KTM Komuter rides on 10 and 11 February. Announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, this initiative is aimed at easing congestion and encouraging the use of public transport during the festival.
The free rides will be available across all KTM Komuter stations along the Batu Caves&ndash;Pulau Sebang and Port Klang&ndash;Batu Caves routes. Passengers will not be charged but must tap their cards at the exit barrier gates to complete their journey.
Commuters can use various cashless payment methods for access, including: ✅ KTMB Mobile (KITS) app ✅ Komuter Link card ✅ Touch 'n Go card ✅ Local bank debit and credit cards ✅ QR code tickets from ticket counters (free during the promotional period)
This marks the second consecutive year that KTM Komuter is offering free rides for Thaipusam. The Transport Minister also noted that 500,000 people are expected to benefit from this incentive.
What is Thaipusam?

Round-the-Clock KTM Services for Four Days

To accommodate the massive influx of devotees and visitors heading to Batu Caves, KTMB will operate 24-hour train services for four days and three nights, from 9 to 12 February.
🚆 The last trains will run past the usual closing time: 🔹 Pulau Sebang &rarr; Batu Caves: Last train at 9.55pm 🔹 Port Klang &rarr; Batu Caves: Last train at 9.30pm 🔹 KL Sentral &rarr; Batu Caves: Trains will depart every 30 minutes, instead of the usual hourly schedule
Additionally, the Port Klang&ndash;Tanjung Malim&ndash;Port Klang route will operate on a full schedule, ensuring smooth travel for all passengers.
Special Discounts for Seniors, Children &amp; Persons with Disabilities
Apart from the two days of free travel, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and children aged 2&ndash;6 years will receive a 50% discount on fares on 9 and 12 February. Meanwhile, children under 2 years can travel for free.
This year&rsquo;s discounts are 10% higher than last year&rsquo;s, reflecting the government&rsquo;s commitment to making Thaipusam travel more affordable and accessible.
Plan Your Trip to Batu Caves
Hundreds of thousands of devotees are expected to visit Batu Caves, commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance. Attendees are encouraged to arrive between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM to witness the start of the Thaipusam processions.

Jordan, who has been backpacking solo through Southeast Asia and the Mediterranean for the past 18 months while working remotely for a US-based company, had arrived in Malaysia from Vietnam on 17 May. He was believed to be staying at the Robertson Residences in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
Family Raises Alarm After Uncharacteristic Silence
His mother, Leanne Burnett, became alarmed when she didn&rsquo;t hear from him the following day, something she describes as completely out of character. The two last spoke on Monday, 26 May, with no indication of anything amiss.
&ldquo;He always checks in regularly because he knows how worried we get,&rdquo; she told the Daily Mail. &ldquo;If he had lost his phone or laptop, he knows my number by heart. He&rsquo;d go to a hotel or an internet caf&eacute; to get in touch. The silence is just not like him.&rdquo;

HoYo FEST 2025 Returns To Malaysia This July With Exciting Activities For HoYoverse Fans

Malaysia&rsquo;s top men&rsquo;s doubles duo, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, continued their exceptional form in 2025 by capturing the Singapore Open title, marking their third major victory this season and signalling a potential ascent to the world No. 1 ranking.
Comeback Kings in Singapore

In a thrilling final at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the world No. 3 pair staged a dramatic comeback to defeat South Korea&rsquo;s 10th-ranked Seo Seung Jae and Kim Won Ho 15-21, 21-18, 21-19 in a 65-minute encounter. The win was particularly sweet as it avenged their previous defeat to the same opponents in the Indian Open semi-finals earlier this year.
After conceding the first game, Aaron-Wooi Yik regrouped in the second set, showing steely determination to level the match. In the deciding set, both sides exchanged powerful rallies, but it was the Malaysians&rsquo; aggressive net play and attacking drives that earned them a 16-12 lead, which they held onto to seal the victory.
Their Singapore Open win follows triumphs at the Badminton Asia Championships in April and the Thailand Open in May. The pair took home a prize of US$74,000 (~ RM314,240), while the runners-up earned US$35,000 (~RM148,627).

&ldquo;Coach Herry has played a huge role. He gives us confidence and doesn&rsquo;t pressure us unnecessarily,&rdquo; Aaron shared. Wooi Yik added, &ldquo;After the first set, we knew we had to push harder. He&rsquo;s refined our playstyle, and this win is part of a much bigger mission.&rdquo;
Eyes on Jakarta: The Indonesia Open Awaits
Buoyed by their Singapore success, Aaron-Wooi Yik now set their sights on the prestigious Indonesia Open (3&ndash;8 June) in Jakarta, a Super 1000 event with a total prize pool of US$1.45 million. The champions in the doubles category will earn US$107,000, with the runners-up pocketing US$50,750.
However, the path to a fourth title this season will be anything but straightforward. Drawn in the top half, they are expected to face formidable opponents including Japan&rsquo;s Hoki-Kobayashi, India&rsquo;s Chirag-Satwiksairaj, and local favourites Leo Rolly Carnando-Bagus Maulana. They also face a tricky opening round clash against Denmark&rsquo;s Frederik Sogaard and Rasmus Kjaer &ndash; the same pair they narrowly beat in the Malaysia Masters.
Climbing the Rankings: A Shot at World No. 1

Over their last four tournaments, Aaron-Wooi Yik have amassed RM708,905 in prize money, collecting titles in three of them and finishing runners-up once.
