The band&rsquo;s lawyer, Edmund Cullen, dismissed FSA&rsquo;s claims against the individual band members as "illegitimate, artificial, and incoherent," asserting that the contract was signed exclusively with The 1975 Productions LLP. He argued that the LLP, as a legally distinct entity, protects the musicians from personal liability.
Judge Hansen sided with this argument, ruling that the band members had the legal right to structure their business in a way that limits their personal liability. However, he permitted FSA&rsquo;s lawsuit against The 1975 Productions LLP to continue.
