&ldquo;During those five months, I was not just dealing with my injuries, I was dealing with stress &ndash; and of course, I did have a little bit of depression,&rdquo; he said.
The absence from competitive play left him questioning his place in the sport. &ldquo;I was quite shocked and clueless when it happened. I didn&rsquo;t know how to deal with it. I wondered how I would perform when I returned. Would I still be at the top level, or would I struggle with my own game? It was very stressful.&rdquo;
To cope, he deliberately withdrew from badminton-related news and the relentless chatter of social media. Instead, he focused on what he called &ldquo;a healing journey,&rdquo; exploring new experiences to reset his mind.

That personal journey, however, sparked alarm among fans. In July, Zii Jia uploaded several cryptic and unsettling artworks to Instagram, including images of stitched figures and dark motifs. The posts quickly went viral, with speculation mounting about his mental state.
He later admitted the images reflected his emotions at the time. &ldquo;I became a little obsessed with art. I started researching it and realised it can be a way to express our feelings &ndash; not just the bright side, but sometimes the darker parts too. That&rsquo;s why I shared those images.&rdquo;
Beyond art, he sought distractions in solo travel, books, and even skydiving in Dubai. A visit to an art museum in Abu Dhabi, he said, became part of a personal &ldquo;healing trip&rdquo; to help him process the turbulence.
The injury that occurred

The ordeal began with the ankle injury sustained at the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou in December 2024. A week later, at the All England Championships, he fell in the first round to Hong Kong&rsquo;s Angus Ng Ka Long.
Still hampered by pain, he withdrew from the Swiss Open shortly after, marking the start of a five-month recovery period. &ldquo;It was my first time dealing with such a big injury,&rdquo; he reflected. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve had ups and downs in my career, but never something like this. At one point, I even thought of stopping altogether.&rdquo;
Thankfully, the rehab has been successful. He has been pain-free for a month and training regularly again, though he acknowledges tournament play will be a sterner test.
Chen Long advice

&ldquo;Zii Jia, I know the weight of a nation can feel heavy on your shoulders. I&rsquo;ve been there &ndash; the pressure, the doubts, the endless expectations. But champions are not built in a single match. They are forged through patience, discipline and belief. Don&rsquo;t let one loss define you. Trust your training, trust yourself. Play with calmness, because strength without calm is wasted.&rdquo;
The advice, from someone who has navigated the sport&rsquo;s highest peaks and heaviest burdens, could prove invaluable as Zii Jia seeks to find his rhythm again.
Bounce back stronger and in a more positive state
Today, Zii Jia speaks with a renewed sense of purpose. He is grateful for the lessons of the past months and is determined to channel them into a more balanced approach.
&ldquo;Not just badminton &ndash; the most important thing is that I now know more about myself, how to deal with my feelings and my reactions. I feel blessed that I&rsquo;ve been through this, and that I can still compete. For me, the most important thing now is to enjoy the game and stay injury-free.&rdquo;
As he steps back onto the world stage in Paris, fans will be eager to see how far his comeback can take him. Whatever the outcome, the journey from despair to determination has already shown a new side to Malaysia&rsquo;s favourite shuttler &mdash; one who is not only fighting to reclaim his place among the elite, but also to emerge stronger, wiser, and in a more positive state of mind.

One of the biggest milestones is the successful booting of the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V. While the game cannot yet be played, users can access its menus and settings, showing that increasingly complex commercial titles are beginning to function within the emulator.
GTA VI Is Still A Long Way Off

Several residents also claimed the notice board only appeared a few days before the submission deadline, leaving even less time for the community to respond.

In addition to individual objections, a coalition of residents' associations representing several neighbourhoods in Section 9 submitted a formal letter to MBPJ urging the council to reconsider the planning application.
The associations said they were not opposed to technological development itself but stressed that large-scale infrastructure projects should be carefully evaluated when located close to residential communities.
They called for greater transparency throughout the planning process and urged the council to balance economic development with residents' quality of life, environmental sustainability and public safety.

Government Launches Investigation Into Network School

Speaking to reporters, Anwar said the matter is being taken seriously, with multiple enforcement and security agencies conducting a thorough investigation.
He stressed that Malaysia would not compromise on issues involving national security or its foreign policy.
"We are investigating the matter, and we will not allow it. If there are Israeli nationals, since we do not recognise Israel, they will be deported immediately," he said.
The Prime Minister added that the relevant ministries and agencies are currently handling the investigation, with Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir expected to provide further clarification on the matter.
Why Is Network School Under Investigation?

The controversy centres on Network School, a private residential and co-working community established in Forest City in 2024 by technology investor and former Coinbase chief technology officer Balaji Srinivasan.
The community markets itself as a destination for "techno-optimists", digital entrepreneurs, engineers, creators and remote workers from around the world.
Members reportedly pay around US$1,500 (approximately RM6,100) per month, which includes accommodation, meals, co-working facilities, gym access and community programmes. The project has also promoted itself as an alternative to Silicon Valley, describing its vision as building a global technology hub outside the United States.
The development recently attracted widespread public attention after allegations surfaced online claiming that Israeli nationals with dual citizenship had entered Malaysia using passports issued by other countries to participate in the programme.
Johor Government Calls For Comprehensive Checks

The Johor state government has since urged the Home Ministry and multiple enforcement agencies to investigate the allegations thoroughly.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said authorities should verify the identities and nationalities of those staying at Network School, including whether any individuals had entered Malaysia using second-country passports.
He also called for investigations into the type of immigration passes being used, the purpose of entry into Malaysia, and whether the activities conducted at the community match the reasons declared upon arrival.
Beyond immigration matters, Onn Hafiz requested that the Higher Education Ministry, Digital Ministry and other regulatory authorities determine whether Network School requires registration or approval under Malaysian law.
He also instructed local authorities to review the project's business operations, land use, accommodation licences and compliance with local regulations, warning that any breaches should be dealt with firmly.
The Johor government said it would not allow the state to be used as a base for activities or movements that could threaten Malaysia's sovereignty or violate existing laws.
Immigration Says Documents Were Valid

Amid the public debate, the Immigration Department confirmed that officers had inspected 266 foreign nationals from around 40 countries residing at the Forest City community.
According to Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, all individuals inspected were found to possess valid travel and immigration documents.
However, he said investigations are still ongoing to determine whether there has been any misuse of identities, passports, immigration facilities or permit conditions.
It remains unclear whether any Israeli nationals were among those inspected, and authorities have yet to announce the outcome of the investigation.
Malaysia Maintains Its Position On Israeli Nationals
Malaysia does not have diplomatic relations with Israel and generally does not permit holders of Israeli passports to enter the country without special approval.
The current investigation focuses on allegations that some individuals may have entered Malaysia using passports issued by another country while also holding Israeli citizenship.
Anwar reiterated that if investigations confirm the presence of Israeli nationals in violation of Malaysia's policies, they will be deported immediately.
For now, the investigation into Network School remains ongoing, with several federal ministries, enforcement agencies and the Johor state government continuing to examine the allegations before any further action is taken.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino described education as one of the organisation's key priorities and said the event would help raise both awareness and funding for the global campaign.

Although the performance is expected to last only around 11 minutes, additional time will be needed to construct and remove the stage inside MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

However, multiple reports suggest the World Cup final break could last anywhere between 20 and 30 minutes to accommodate the production.
