This week, Khairul Aming surprised Malaysians by unveiling his first-ever physical restaurant, named Rembayung, located in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur. The announcement, made via a video on his social platforms, revealed that the project was kept secret for a full year while construction quietly took place behind the scenes.
The restaurant, built from scratch on an 8,000 square foot plot just nine minutes from KLCC, cost a massive RM4 million to develop. According to him, it is the largest single investment he has ever made.
&ldquo;After 10 years in the online world, I&rsquo;m finally ready to step into the offline world. This is the beginning of KA&rsquo;s planning for the next 10 years,&rdquo; he shared, welcoming fans to Rembayung with pride.
The project reflects not just a business venture, but a major milestone&mdash;an embodiment of how far he has come from recording cooking videos in his home kitchen to building his own standalone culinary space.
What to Expect at Rembayung

Although Khairul Aming is keeping the exact menu under wraps, he confirmed that the restaurant will embrace a kampung-inspired concept, blending comforting traditional flavours with a modern dining environment. The building features a two-storey semi glass-house structure designed to host over 250 diners at a time.
To ensure the highest standards, more than RM500,000 was invested into the kitchen alone. The restaurant has also hired 50 local staff, most of whom reportedly did not know they would be working for Khairul Aming until after they passed the interview stage.
Working alongside long-time partners with experience in the F&amp;B industry, he hopes Rembayung will become a landmark dining spot&mdash;attracting both locals and international visitors eager to taste authentic Malaysian kampung flavours in the heart of the capital.
Rembayung is expected to officially open to the public in January 2026.

Screenshots began circulating showing Rembayung receiving Google Reviews&mdash;including lengthy comments describing &ldquo;bad dining experiences&rdquo;&mdash;even though the restaurant doors have never opened to the public.
