VisionQuest

Ultron

Marvel Studios is bringing one of its most complicated characters back into the spotlight with VisionQuest, an upcoming Disney+ series that explores Vision&rsquo;s identity, his connection to Ultron and the meaning of family. Starring Paul Bettany and James Spader, the eight-episode series marks the conclusion of the television trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024.
Originally scheduled to premiere on 14 October 2026, Marvel has announced an early debut for the first two episodes on 13 October in the United States. For Malaysian viewers, that premiere date falls on 14 October local time. The series will release two episodes weekly before switching to a single episode for its final two instalments.
With returning characters, artificial intelligence and plenty of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) connections, here is everything you need to know about VisionQuest before watching.
Who Is Vision? A Quick Recap Of His Marvel Journey
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/b9d678cc87382635ae65bcf9edbecdc9c300535e05015d045e54ad8a8a6be4c3" />
Vision, played by Paul Bettany, is an android known as a synthezoid whose consciousness was created using a combination of Tony Stark&rsquo;s AI assistant J.A.R.V.I.S., Ultron&rsquo;s technology and the Mind Stone.
He first appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), where he turned against Ultron and joined the Avengers. However, his story took a tragic turn in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), when Thanos removed the Mind Stone from his forehead, killing him. The events of Avengers: Endgame did not restore him to life.
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/87eaa1d75e8d100b37c9babbbbc8713ba54751f6f43e2dd7fa71777b9a3bf27e" />
Vision&rsquo;s story continued in WandaVision, where Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, created an alternate reality in the town of Westview to cope with her grief. The Vision living inside this reality was a manifestation of Wanda&rsquo;s powers rather than the original android.
Meanwhile, the government organisation SWORD rebuilt Vision&rsquo;s original body into White Vision, stripping him of his memories and emotions. During the series finale, the two versions of Vision confronted one another, with the original Vision&rsquo;s memories ultimately restored to White Vision.
White Vision then flew away, leaving his future uncertain.
That storyline leads directly into VisionQuest, where Vision has regained his memories but must work out what they mean without fully understanding the emotions attached to them.
What Is VisionQuest About?
<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/sXKnmgmbkoE" width="560" height="314" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe>
Set around 2028, VisionQuest follows Vision as he attempts to find a new purpose after escaping those who wanted to turn him into a weapon.
He goes into hiding in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he works at a local pub while trying to understand human behaviour. Behind the scenes, however, he retreats into a virtual environment inside his mind called Mindspace, where several artificial intelligence programmes associated with Tony Stark remain active.
These include J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y. and E.D.I.T.H., each of whom assists Vision in different ways. The series explores how these digital personalities influence his understanding of humanity and whether possessing memories is enough to make someone truly human.
His quiet existence is disrupted when a bounty hunter named Paladin, played by Todd Stashwick, begins hunting him. The situation becomes more complicated when Paladin targets Tommy, a mysterious teenager who may be Vision&rsquo;s son.
Vision must then decide what family means to him, even as he struggles to understand whether he can genuinely experience love, fear and attachment.
The series draws inspiration from classic Marvel comics, including the 1989 Vision Quest storyline and Tom King&rsquo;s acclaimed Vision comic series from 2015. Both explore Vision&rsquo;s identity and his attempts to understand what it means to be human.
Ultron Returns As Vision&rsquo;s Most Complicated Family Member
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/0ebb22ef31d611068f1967e6e2e97deed72ae13e0dfab4c49c4691b6cbe1aca4" />
One of the biggest talking points surrounding VisionQuest is the return of Ultron, played by James Spader.
First introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ultron was an artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to protect humanity. However, he concluded that humanity itself was the problem and attempted to destroy it.
Although his physical body was defeated, the series reveals that a portion of his AI consciousness survived within Vision&rsquo;s mind.
Ultron now occupies a place in Mindspace, where he offers Vision advice that is often as manipulative as it is insightful. Their relationship forms a central part of the series, particularly as Vision attempts to understand his own identity and the kind of person he wants to become.
Marvel has described the story as exploring three generations: Ultron as a grandfather figure, Vision as a father and Tommy as a son. This creates a broader question about whether someone shaped by a troubled parental figure can break the cycle and become a better parent themselves.
The cast also includes T&rsquo;Nia Miller as Jocasta, an android created by Ultron in the comics who eventually turned against him. Her role in the series remains largely under wraps.
Who Is Tommy, And Why Is He Important?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/5f5e6daa9fedcfef37ad81cb654f3625f3f07a651df972547359e416bc239880" />
Tommy is another key character viewers should understand before starting VisionQuest.
In WandaVision, Tommy and his twin brother Billy were created as part of Wanda&rsquo;s alternate reality. Both disappeared when the Hex collapsed, leaving their ultimate fates uncertain.
The story continued in Agatha All Along, which revealed that Billy&rsquo;s soul had entered the body of William Kaplan. Using his magical abilities, Billy later helped place Tommy&rsquo;s soul into another teenager&rsquo;s body.
In VisionQuest, Tommy is portrayed by Ruaridh Mollica as an 18-year-old orphan who has recently left the foster care system in London. He survives by pickpocketing and experiences confusing memories of a family and a life he cannot fully explain.
Tommy also possesses super-speed abilities, reflecting his comic-book counterpart, Speed. His unexpected connection to Vision becomes increasingly important as the pair are forced to flee from those pursuing them.
Lauren Morais joins the cast as Lisa Molinari, Tommy&rsquo;s partner in crime, while Todd Stashwick plays the relentless bounty hunter Paladin.

VisionQuest consists of eight episodes, with the first two arriving together before the series moves to weekly instalments in pairs.

What Should You Watch Before VisionQuest?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/cf7edb30e04822530cfb4f87520edefd32db2e9203f2b0c76db274b1fa94aa2b" />
Although VisionQuest is designed to continue Vision&rsquo;s story, its many references and returning characters mean some MCU homework will help.
WandaVision (2021) is the most important series to watch, as it explains the creation of White Vision, the restoration of his memories and the origins of Wanda&rsquo;s twin sons.
Agatha All Along (2024) provides the missing details about Billy and Tommy, including how their souls came to inhabit new bodies. These events are directly relevant to Tommy&rsquo;s role in the new series.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) introduces Ultron and Vision&rsquo;s complicated origins. It also establishes the conflict that continues to shape their relationship.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018) explains Vision&rsquo;s original death and provides important context for his relationship with Wanda and the loss of the Mind Stone.
Finally, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) is useful but less essential. It introduces E.D.I.T.H., Tony Stark&rsquo;s augmented reality AI system, which becomes one of the digital personalities featured in Vision&rsquo;s Mindspace.
Watching these titles should make the new series easier to follow, particularly for viewers who have not revisited the MCU&rsquo;s earlier stories in several years.
Is VisionQuest Worth Watching?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/64c05ee1c154d08549a42ad26562e79c7eaeb78d2ff385d39c92a37eb6c96364" />
Early reviews suggest that VisionQuest may appeal most strongly to dedicated Marvel fans. Its returning characters, comic-book references and exploration of artificial intelligence offer plenty for viewers who enjoy connecting the franchise&rsquo;s different storylines.
However, some critics have found the series overly complicated, with its shifting layers of reality, digital consciousness and simulated emotions making it difficult to connect with the central father-and-son storyline. Others have praised its science-fiction approach while noting that it lacks some of the unusual charm and emotional immediacy that made WandaVision stand out.
Ultimately, VisionQuest takes Vision beyond his role as an Avenger and asks a more personal question: if memories can be restored and emotions can be simulated, what truly makes someone human?
For MCU fans, the series could provide a meaningful conclusion to the stories begun in WandaVision and continued in Agatha All Along. Whether it delivers the same emotional impact as its predecessor remains to be seen, but Vision&rsquo;s journey towards understanding himself is finally taking centre stage.

BIllie Eilish UMMY

Malaysian badminton star Lee Zii Jia has applied for an interim injunction at the Kuala Lumpur High Court to restrict his father and sister from making certain financial and management decisions at his company, LZJ Management Sdn Bhd, while a legal dispute over its governance remains unresolved.
The application, filed on 2 July 2026, names his father, Lee Chee Hin, sister Lee Zii Yii, younger brother Lee Tao and LZJ Management as respondents. Zii Jia is seeking to prevent his father and sister, who are both directors of the company, from approving additional financial benefits for themselves or making major corporate decisions without prior court approval.
The dispute centres on the management of the company responsible for handling Zii Jia&rsquo;s professional badminton career and commercial affairs. However, the application is being contested by the respondents, and the court&rsquo;s final decision on the requested injunction has not been established.
Lee Zii Jia Seeks To Limit Financial And Management Decisions
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/fe060dac9e1e7c5166468480911bdb240c602231d76b52e5985cbd51d0084c39" />
Under the proposed interim injunction, Zii Jia wants to prevent Chee Hin and Zii Yii from approving directors&rsquo; fees, allowances, bonuses or other financial benefits for themselves beyond their existing monthly salaries while the legal proceedings are ongoing.
He is also seeking restrictions on several key corporate decisions, including the appointment or removal of directors, the appointment of a company secretary, the disposal of major assets, the issuance of new shares and changes to the company&rsquo;s shareholding structure.
These decisions would require court approval if the requested restrictions are granted.
According to the court documents, Zii Jia holds a 90% stake in LZJ Management, while Zii Yii owns 9% and Lee Tao holds the remaining 1%.
The injunction application is registered under case number WA-24NCC-400-07/2026. It reflects an ongoing dispute over how the company should be managed and how authority over its financial and corporate affairs should be exercised.
Dispute Over Company Governance And An Extraordinary General Meeting
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/affc18df1715fab9a0bec3cf8c2e795ee3435f9d41d22b266cba01a8c363cc29" />
Besides seeking restrictions on his family members&rsquo; powers, Zii Jia has applied for a court order to convene an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to address the company&rsquo;s management and governance.
In his supporting affidavit, he said an earlier attempt to hold an EGM on 22 December 2025 failed because the required quorum was not achieved. Zii Jia has argued that the company is facing a management and administrative deadlock, making court intervention necessary to resolve outstanding issues.
He wants the court to direct that the meeting take place within 14 days of the order, or within another timeframe determined by the court. He has also sought permission to issue and serve the meeting notice and appoint an independent chairman.
The proposed meeting would allow shareholders to discuss matters concerning the company&rsquo;s leadership and administration, including the possible removal or appointment of directors and the appointment of a company secretary.
However, the respondents are opposing the application.
Lee Chee Hin Opposes Court Intervention
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/fcfcfcae9a0294e7ca04398c70962241897864b7d17887f33ca47602e55d0591" />
In a reply affidavit filed on 6 August 2026, Chee Hin disputed the need for court intervention, maintaining that LZJ Management had continued to manage matters relating to his son&rsquo;s professional badminton career.
His response also referred to the company&rsquo;s four-year agreement with sports brand Victor, which runs from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2028. He argued that the arrangement and its financial contributions were important to the company&rsquo;s operations and its support for Zii Jia&rsquo;s career.
The affidavits filed by the parties also address disagreements involving payments and the use of Zii Jia&rsquo;s name and image. Zii Yii and Lee Tao have likewise challenged the allegations and the relief sought.
The competing positions remain subject to the court&rsquo;s consideration, and the outcome of the injunction application has yet to be established.
LZJ Management Handles Zii Jia&rsquo;s Professional Career
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/f13b28ae01b86f5c2c461e8fb19ff73c1548129ec278370d675477772ec0eee8" />
LZJ Management was established to oversee Zii Jia&rsquo;s professional and commercial affairs after he turned professional and parted ways with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
The company plays a role in managing sponsorships and other arrangements connected to the player&rsquo;s career, making its governance and financial decisions central to the current dispute.
The case highlights the challenges that can arise when family members are also involved in managing a professional athlete&rsquo;s business interests. However, the legal proceedings remain ongoing, and the parties&rsquo; respective claims have not been conclusively determined.
Despite the dispute, Zii Jia has continued competing internationally. He recently reached the men&rsquo;s singles semi-finals at the Arctic Open in Vantaa, Finland, before losing to Denmark&rsquo;s Anders Antonsen. Earlier in the tournament, he defeated France&rsquo;s Christo Popov 21-11, 21-16 in the quarter-finals.
For now, the focus remains on the High Court proceedings, which will determine whether the requested restrictions and extraordinary general meeting can proceed as sought.

Ryt Bank customers can now make contactless payments using their Apple devices, following the launch of Apple Pay support for the bank&rsquo;s Ryt Card on 6 October 2026. The update allows customers to add their card to Apple Wallet and pay in stores, online and through supported apps without needing to take out their physical card.
With this addition, Ryt Bank becomes the first digital bank in Malaysia to support both Apple Pay and Google Pay. The bank introduced Google Pay support in January 2026, giving Android users access to mobile payments before extending the service to Apple users.
The latest update offers customers more flexibility in how they pay for everyday purchases, from buying groceries and grabbing coffee to shopping online. It also introduces another convenient way to make payments while benefiting from the security features built into Apple Pay.
How Apple Pay Makes Everyday Payments More Convenient
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/a06634d7f0de0d8f8ba130a5be85cd48b0017e061d6bbdda0e8e0a4cec6d2fdf" />
Apple Pay allows customers to use compatible devices, including iPhones and Apple Watches, to make contactless payments at participating merchants. Instead of carrying a physical card, users can simply authenticate their payment on their device and hold it near a compatible payment terminal.
The service also works for online purchases and in-app transactions at supported merchants, allowing users to complete payments without repeatedly entering their card details.
For customers who frequently use contactless payments, adding a card to Apple Wallet can make everyday transactions quicker and more convenient. It is particularly useful when heading out without a wallet, as payments can be made directly through a compatible Apple device.
Customers who use Android devices can continue to access Google Pay with their Ryt Card, meaning Ryt Bank now supports both major mobile wallet platforms.
Apple Pay Security Features Protect Your Card Details
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/724ed1fa5a195167b50cac4b7b977fbefb8d824b9a7a4435187ed13a5a0f9b5b" />
Beyond convenience, Apple Pay includes security measures designed to protect users&rsquo; payment information.
Each transaction must be authenticated through Face ID, Touch ID or the device&rsquo;s passcode, helping ensure that payments are authorised by the device&rsquo;s owner.
Apple Pay also uses a device-specific account number and a unique security code for each transaction, rather than sharing the actual card number with merchants. Apple states that card numbers are not stored on its servers, adding another layer of protection when customers make payments.
If an iPhone is lost or misplaced, users can also use Apple&rsquo;s Find My service to mark the device as lost and suspend Apple Pay on it.
However, users should still protect their devices with a secure passcode and keep their banking applications updated.

Ryt Bank Adds Apple Pay Support, Becoming Malaysia’s First Digital Bank To Offer Apple Pay And Google Pay

Malaysia&rsquo;s Road Transport Department (JPJ) has temporarily suspended the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) for the Chery Omoda 5 and halted new registrations following an incident in Johor Bahru where the SUV&rsquo;s rear axle and both rear wheels reportedly detached from the vehicle.
Announced on 11 October 2026, the suspension will remain in place until technical investigations are completed and the potential safety risks are addressed. The incident occurred on 6 October along Jalan Pandan, near AEON Mall Tebrau City, with photos and videos subsequently circulating on social media.
The case has raised fresh concerns because a similar rear axle failure in April 2024 prompted Chery Malaysia to launch an inspection campaign involving 600 vehicles. Chery has now announced another recall covering affected C and H variants of the original petrol-powered Omoda 5, with inspections and necessary component replacements provided free of charge.

JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the suspension was a precautionary measure while the department investigates the incident and identifies potential safety risks.
Chery Malaysia has been instructed to identify potentially affected vehicles using component part numbers, production batches, Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) and other relevant technical information. Vehicles identified as being at risk must be recalled for inspection and corrective action.
JPJ will also audit the Omoda 5&rsquo;s production and assembly processes, as well as the relevant axle component supplier. The audit will examine manufacturing practices, quality control systems, welding inspection procedures and component safety standards.
The suspension will only be lifted after corrective and preventive measures have been completed and JPJ confirms that the identified safety risks have been adequately addressed.

Chery Auto Malaysia has confirmed that it is working with JPJ to address the issue through a recall campaign covering affected Omoda 5 C and H variants.
Affected vehicles will undergo comprehensive inspections, and the relevant component will be replaced where necessary. Owners will not be charged for inspections or corrective work carried out under the campaign.

Similar Rear Axle Issue Led To A 600-Unit Recall In 2024
&nbsp;<img src="https://r2.myc.my/ae9e28d2e6a5f8b88bd4363289f59cf2ed8c26919d81d4ccd7c7abf1801950d7" />
The latest incident follows a similar case in April 2024, when a Chery Omoda 5 experienced a rear axle failure that prompted an investigation and a precautionary inspection campaign.
Chery previously attributed the issue to a calibration problem involving welding equipment at its component supplier&rsquo;s facility. A worn welding tip had been replaced, but the equipment was reportedly not recalibrated properly afterwards.
The affected components were produced on 15 August 2023. Although 60 vehicles in Malaysia were identified as fitted with components from that production batch, Chery expanded its inspection campaign to cover 600 Omoda 5 units equipped with rear axle components manufactured between 14 and 17 August 2023.
However, it remains unconfirmed whether the latest incident in Johor Bahru is linked to the same welding issue. JPJ&rsquo;s ongoing investigation will need to establish the cause before any connection can be confirmed.
Does The Recall Affect The Chery O5 Or Omoda E5?
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/68298c757338e12d6cc39d7a726af41228bc531fb1f69479a98b1738295c31f5" /> Top: Omoda 5 EV ; Bottom: Omoda 5 Petrol Image via <a href="https://soyacincau.com/2026/10/11/jpj-suspends-chery-omoda-5-vta-recall-rear-axle-issue/">Soya Cincau</a>
The recall concerns affected C and H variants of the original petrol-powered Chery Omoda 5. Owners should distinguish this model from the facelifted Chery O5 and the fully electric Omoda E5, as they use different rear suspension configurations.
Launched in Malaysia in July 2023, the original Omoda 5 uses a torsion beam rear suspension system. Its facelifted successor, marketed locally as the Chery O5, switches to a multi-link rear suspension setup. The fully electric Omoda E5 also uses multi-link rear suspension.
All three models are locally assembled at Inokom&rsquo;s manufacturing facility in Kulim, Kedah. Chery has stated that its current production models are not affected by the latest recall campaign.
Nevertheless, owners should check their VIN through the official recall checker rather than rely solely on their vehicle&rsquo;s appearance or model name.
What Omoda 5 Owners Should Do
With new registrations suspended and the technical investigation ongoing, owners of the original petrol-powered Omoda 5 should check their VIN and contact an authorised Chery service centre if their vehicle is identified as affected.
The cause of the latest rear axle failure has yet to be confirmed. JPJ&rsquo;s technical audit and Chery&rsquo;s recall campaign will help determine the extent of the issue and ensure that any affected vehicles receive the necessary corrective work before the registration suspension is lifted

JPJ Suspends Chery Omoda 5 Approvals, Halts New Registrations After Rear Axle Incident

Eight years after Crazy Rich Asians became a global box-office hit, the beloved franchise is officially returning with a new television series on HBO. The upcoming eight-episode drama will continue the story following the events of the 2018 romantic comedy, bringing several familiar faces back to explore the glamorous world of Singapore&rsquo;s ultra-wealthy elite.
The returning cast includes Constance Wu as Rachel Chu, Henry Golding as Nick Young, Ronny Chieng as Eddie Cheng and Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh as Eleanor Young, Nick&rsquo;s formidable mother. Production is scheduled to begin in 2027, although HBO has yet to announce a release date or confirm where filming will take place.
The announcement marks a new chapter for the franchise after plans for a feature-film sequel remained in development for several years without moving into production.
Original Crazy Rich Asians Cast Reunites
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/03b5be6ab48c0b65292963941d10a91608435b54b258b185ccbc8bfd91c1edbb" />
The new HBO series will reunite four major cast members from the original film, allowing audiences to revisit the characters who helped make Crazy Rich Asians a cultural phenomenon.
Wu will return as Rachel Chu, a New York-based economics professor who discovers that her boyfriend, Nick Young, belongs to one of Singapore&rsquo;s wealthiest families. Golding reprises his role as Nick, while Chieng returns as his status-conscious cousin, Eddie Cheng. Yeoh will appear in a recurring capacity as Eleanor Young, whose disapproval of Rachel became one of the original film&rsquo;s central conflicts.
Other familiar faces, including Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, Ken Jeong and Nico Santos, have yet to be confirmed for the television adaptation.
The original film followed Rachel as she travelled to Singapore with Nick to attend his best friend&rsquo;s wedding. Unprepared for the extravagant lifestyles, complicated family relationships and social expectations surrounding Nick&rsquo;s family, Rachel found herself navigating a world where wealth and reputation carried considerable influence.
The film ended with Nick proposing to Rachel, setting the stage for the next chapter of their relationship. While HBO has not revealed the new series&rsquo; storyline, it is expected to continue exploring the characters and relationships introduced in the film.
Eight Episodes Instead Of A Movie Sequel
&nbsp;<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OmHk6prfpFs" width="560" height="314" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe>
Rather than continuing the story through another feature film, the franchise is taking an episodic approach. The eight-episode format will give the creative team more time to develop its characters and explore the wider world established in Kevin Kwan&rsquo;s bestselling novels.
Adele Lim, who co-wrote the original film, will serve as showrunner and executive producer. She will work alongside Kwan, original film director Jon M. Chu, and producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, among other executive producers.
Lim described the project as a family reunion, expressing excitement about returning to Kwan&rsquo;s fictional world.
She also highlighted how the series format would allow the team to explore the characters in greater depth than a single film could. The writers&rsquo; room is already working on the project, although specific story details have not yet been announced.
Kwan also welcomed the adaptation, saying that seeing his characters return in a television series would give their stories more room to develop. His original Crazy Rich Asians novel was published in 2013, followed by China Rich Girlfriend in 2015 and Rich People Problems in 2017.
It remains unclear whether the HBO series will directly adapt material from the subsequent novels or introduce an original storyline inspired by the book series.
Jon M. Chu Says Returning Feels Like Coming Home
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/1143fbdf468e710349169f8757112468500110e08c279431dc976131326cf934" />
Chu, who directed the 2018 film and later helmed projects including In the Heights and the Wicked films, celebrated the announcement on social media.
Reflecting on the original movie&rsquo;s impact, he said it had changed his life and described the cast as one of the most creative and entertaining groups he had worked with. He also expressed excitement about bringing the team together again after watching its members develop their careers over the past eight years.
Chu noted that audiences had continued to embrace the film, from hosting mahjong nights inspired by its scenes to revisiting it as a favourite during flights. He also joked that the announcement finally answered the question he had repeatedly received from fans: when the sequel would arrive.
The reunion brings back much of the creative team responsible for the original film, which helped bring greater visibility to Asian representation in mainstream Hollywood.
A Cultural Milestone Returns To The Screen
<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZQ-YX-5bAs0" width="560" height="314" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe>
Released in 2018, Crazy Rich Asians was widely recognised for featuring an all-Asian principal cast in a major Hollywood studio production, at a time when Asian representation and the issue of whitewashing were prominent topics in the entertainment industry.
The romantic comedy performed strongly at the box office, earning more than US$239 million worldwide against a reported production budget of US$30 million. Its success also helped introduce international audiences to Singapore&rsquo;s food, architecture, luxury hotels and cultural landmarks, including Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and Newton Food Centre.
Beyond its commercial performance, the film became a significant moment for Asian audiences who rarely saw their communities represented on such a scale in Hollywood romantic comedies.
With the upcoming HBO series, the franchise will have an opportunity to revisit its characters while expanding the stories and relationships that made the original film popular.
For now, fans will have to wait for further announcements regarding the plot, additional cast members and premiere date. With production expected to begin in 2027, the return of Crazy Rich Asians promises a longer look at the romance, family drama and extravagant lifestyles of the Young family.

Crazy Rich Asians Returns With Eight-Episode HBO Series, Reuniting Original Cast

Anthropic has launched OSS Scanner, a free, opt-in AI-powered vulnerability scanner designed to help open-source developers identify security weaknesses before attackers can exploit them. The service uses the company&rsquo;s most advanced artificial intelligence models, including Claude Mythos, to conduct periodic security scans and deliver reports directly to participating project maintainers.
The launch comes as AI tools become increasingly capable of detecting software vulnerabilities, creating new opportunities for cybersecurity teams while raising concerns about how quickly attackers could exploit similar capabilities. Although OSS Scanner aims to help developers identify flaws sooner, its reports are generated entirely by AI without human review or verification.
How Anthropic&rsquo;s OSS Scanner Works
&nbsp;<img src="https://r2.myc.my/034d3d67b409f1426c5fcd4e6a1ab008068c9654e58f6347a7a4f1c76f94c564" />
Inspired by Google&rsquo;s OSS-Fuzz, which helps identify vulnerabilities through automated software testing, OSS Scanner provides security scans to eligible open-source projects at no cost.
Participating developers can receive reports containing explanations of potential vulnerabilities, reproducible examples to help verify findings, information about when bugs may have been introduced and proposed patches where available. This could help maintainers investigate weaknesses and release fixes before they are exploited.
The service builds on Anthropic&rsquo;s experience using AI to identify software vulnerabilities through Project Glasswing. Over the past six months, the company said its models have identified more than 29,000 potential vulnerabilities across important software projects. However, its teams have only been able to manually review and triage around 6,000 findings, highlighting the difficulty of verifying security reports at scale.
OSS Scanner aims to reduce this bottleneck by allowing developers to receive potential vulnerability reports as soon as they are generated, rather than waiting for manual verification.
AI Reports May Still Contain Errors
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/c8c1a57cee0c225b26a56aeb4c48a3099416f5e6bf81eab3579ae87631bfeebf" />
Despite the benefits of faster scanning, Anthropic acknowledges that reports generated without human review may be inaccurate, duplicate known vulnerabilities or misinterpret a project&rsquo;s security requirements.
To evaluate an early version of OSS Scanner, the company asked specialist penetration testers to examine 97 critical- and high-severity findings across 48 projects. Anthropic reported that 85 findings, or approximately 88%, met its standards for its coordinated vulnerability disclosure (CVD) process.
Of the remaining 12 findings, 11 involved genuine issues that duplicated known vulnerabilities or other findings, while only one was considered invalid. Although the results suggest that the scanner can produce useful reports, they do not guarantee that every future finding will be accurate.
Anthropic said it would continue improving the system based on feedback from maintainers. It also acknowledged that severity ratings can sometimes be overstated or that reports may not account for a project&rsquo;s specific security model.
The company will maintain its existing CVD process, through which vulnerabilities are manually verified before disclosure. For OSS Scanner&rsquo;s initial unverified reports, Anthropic does not intend to impose a standard 90-day disclosure deadline. However, if a finding is subsequently verified by a human through its CVD programme, the company may apply its disclosure policy from the date the maintainer is notified of that verification.
Cryptocurrency Projects Among Early Applicants
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/a44db2e4567f7e5f977b102a9f97f6482a1f5e41fe8266a2d04209083ebd893e" />
Interest in OSS Scanner has extended to cryptocurrency projects, where vulnerabilities can potentially expose user funds or disrupt essential network operations.
Early applicants included Nethermind, an Ethereum client developer, and ZEUS, a self-custodial Bitcoin and Lightning wallet. VirtEngine, a decentralised cloud computing marketplace built on the Cosmos SDK, also submitted an application.
These projects highlight how AI-assisted security scanning could help protect software responsible for processing blockchain transactions, managing private keys and supporting cryptocurrency payments. However, submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance, as Anthropic evaluates projects individually.
Its selection criteria consider factors such as a project&rsquo;s importance to infrastructure and user security, exposure to remote attacks, and the number of users or downstream projects that depend on it.
Interest also extends beyond cryptocurrency, with developers working on AI assistants, machine-learning infrastructure, cloud storage, software development tools and energy-related systems among the wider applicant pool.
How Open-Source Developers Can Apply
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/63c6c877609083b07bcd48fba758da919518170ebd3ccf7c069064f8cc4d2cb0" />
Core maintainers of eligible projects can apply by submitting a pull request to the <a href="https://github.com/anthropics/oss-scanner">OSS Scanner GitHub</a> repository using the required project template.
Applicants must provide their repository link, an email address for the primary contact and a path to a Dockerfile that prepares the project&rsquo;s environment, installs dependencies and builds the software. This enables the AI agent to conduct its security audit within a prepared container without internet access.
Optional information includes additional email contacts, a project website, a public GPG key for encrypting report emails and a threat model outlining which parts of the code should be tested and how vulnerabilities should be classified.
Not every project will qualify. Anthropic said its selection criteria are similar to those used by OSS-Fuzz, prioritising projects with a critical impact on infrastructure and user security.
Anthropic Expands Its Cybersecurity Efforts
OSS Scanner is part of Anthropic&rsquo;s broader cybersecurity initiatives, alongside Project Glasswing and its Critical Infrastructure Defense Program, which aims to support organisations protecting essential systems.
The company has warned that AI could make it cheaper and faster for attackers to discover vulnerabilities, develop exploits and conduct cyber operations. This creates pressure on developers to identify and fix weaknesses before they can be used against their software.
Anthropic believes that continued advances in AI could eventually make it easier to detect bugs before software is released, build more secure systems from the outset and strengthen active cyber defence.
For open-source maintainers, OSS Scanner offers an additional way to identify potential vulnerabilities without paying for security scans. Its long-term value, however, will depend on the accuracy of its reports and how quickly developers can verify findings and implement fixes.
As AI continues to reshape cybersecurity, faster vulnerability detection could give defenders a valuable advantage. Human oversight and careful verification will nevertheless remain essential to ensuring that security issues are addressed accurately and responsibly.

Malaysia&rsquo;s Foreign Ministry has confirmed that no Malaysians were reported killed or injured in a deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, 10 October 2026. However, the incident has left several Malaysians stranded as airport operations were suspended and airlines cancelled or diverted flights.
Saudi Arabia&rsquo;s General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that the attack killed 12 people and injured 309 others, with some of the injured reportedly in critical condition. The victims included four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshi nationals and one citizen each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.
The attack is among a series of strikes targeting Saudi Arabia amid escalating fighting involving Yemen&rsquo;s Iran-backed Houthi rebels and Saudi-backed forces. Further attacks on Saudi airports have since heightened concerns over aviation safety and the potential for the regional conflict to intensify.
Wisma Putra Provides Assistance To Stranded Malaysians
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/bbb3d449b8ef337b6a272d98022c9f47bd448677594aceb9602a198600fe698e" />
In a statement issued on Sunday, 11 October, the Foreign Ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, said the Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh was maintaining contact with Malaysians affected by the travel disruptions and providing the necessary consular assistance.
The ministry urged Malaysians living in Saudi Arabia, travelling through the country or planning to visit to remain vigilant and monitor developments through official channels.
Travellers with upcoming flights were advised to verify their flight status directly with their respective airlines before heading to the airport. They were also reminded to prepare for possible delays or cancellations and follow safety instructions issued by Saudi authorities.
Wisma Putra encouraged Malaysians in the country to register and keep their contact details updated through the <a href="https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my/">e-Konsular portal</a> to facilitate communication and access to consular assistance.
Malaysians requiring assistance can contact the Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh at +966 11 488 7098 or +966 11 488 7100 for general enquiries. The ministry said it would continue monitoring the situation and issue further updates when necessary.
Riyadh Airport Hit By Multiple Attacks In One Week
<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FE9fy5chF5U" width="560" height="314" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe>
The deadly strike on Saturday was part of a series of attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport over the course of a week.
According to reports, a missile struck the airport complex housing Terminals 3 and 4, which serve domestic flights. The attack caused significant disruption, with footage showing passengers fleeing amid explosions and debris inside the airport.
Saudi authorities reported that the strike killed 12 people and injured more than 300. The incident was described in reports as one of the deadliest attacks on a Gulf Arab country since the Iran war began in March 2026.
However, the violence did not end there. On Sunday, 11 October, another unidentified projectile struck Terminal 4 at the Riyadh airport, causing a fire that killed one person and injured 11 others, according to Saudi civil aviation authorities. Saudi air defences also intercepted a cruise missile near the airport.
Authorities subsequently confirmed an attack near King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, in eastern Saudi Arabia, where damage assessments and safety inspections were under way.
The repeated attacks have raised concerns about the security of Saudi Arabia&rsquo;s aviation infrastructure, particularly as the country becomes more directly involved in the escalating conflict in Yemen.
Flights Cancelled As Saudi Airports Suspend Operations
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/a4e09bf7e6f2f4edc567adb0654ebb3e222674d2cd2ed21fc4d694ad718ea45c" />
Following the initial attack, Saudi aviation authorities temporarily suspended operations at King Khalid International Airport, forcing airlines to cancel, delay or divert services.
Several international carriers announced disruptions to flights serving Riyadh and other Saudi destinations. Kuwait Airways cancelled flights to and from Riyadh, while Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways also cancelled some services. Other airlines had already suspended selected routes amid growing security concerns.
Flight disruptions were also reported at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam following the subsequent attack there.
The incidents have affected passengers travelling to and from Saudi Arabia, including Malaysians whose journeys have been interrupted. Travellers connecting through the kingdom may also face changes to their itineraries, depending on airline schedules and airport operating conditions.
International travel advisories have also been updated. British authorities advised against all but essential travel to several Saudi cities and urged caution around airports, while US aviation authorities warned airlines to exercise caution when operating to or over the kingdom.
Given the evolving security situation, Malaysians with upcoming travel plans are advised to check directly with their airlines for the latest information rather than relying solely on previously issued flight schedules.
Anwar Ibrahim Condemns Attack And Expresses Solidarity With Saudi Arabia
<iframe style="border: none; overflow: hidden;" src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fanwaribrahimofficial%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02W4CU89XrAhCUrHF3CqEdmrd8Y3avMNSN5VcEbL67NRQpYXhvU3D6ZPLkoRtmJQrAl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="632" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe>&nbsp;
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim strongly condemned the attack, expressing condolences to the families of those killed and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
He stressed that attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure could not be justified, warning that such incidents would deepen the suffering caused by the wider conflict.
Anwar also reaffirmed Malaysia&rsquo;s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its people during the difficult period, while expressing hope that diplomacy and reason would prevail to prevent further escalation.
The attack has drawn international condemnation as concerns grow over the potential expansion of the conflict and its consequences for civilian safety, regional stability and international transport.
Escalating Yemen Conflict Raises Wider Security Concerns
<img src="https://r2.myc.my/32953a07aa85399c15509e9aea332c4fc76b38c5d73d8f9dd05c12275d9d78f7" />
The attacks on Saudi airports come as fighting between Yemen&rsquo;s Houthi rebels and Saudi-backed government forces intensifies.
The Houthis have claimed responsibility for the Saturday attack on Riyadh airport and have issued warnings against using Saudi airports and airspace. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, has continued military operations against the group in Yemen, including airstrikes and support for government forces attempting to regain territory.
Saudi authorities have also reported intercepting missiles and drones in several areas, highlighting the wider security risks posed by the escalating hostilities.
The situation has prompted concerns among Saudi Arabia&rsquo;s allies over the country&rsquo;s air defence capabilities and the potential need for additional military support. US President Donald Trump has said Washington is considering whether to become more directly involved in Saudi operations against the Houthis.
The conflict also threatens important regional transport and energy routes, including shipping corridors near the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Further escalation could have implications for international trade, aviation and energy markets.
What Malaysians Travelling To Saudi Arabia Should Know
For Malaysians currently in Saudi Arabia or planning to travel there, the Foreign Ministry&rsquo;s advice remains to stay alert, monitor official announcements and confirm flight arrangements directly with airlines.
Passengers should avoid travelling to the airport until they have checked whether their flights are operating, particularly while airport closures and schedule changes remain possible. Malaysians who are stranded or require assistance should contact the Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh and ensure their contact details are updated through e-Konsular.
Although no Malaysian casualties have been reported from the attacks, the continuing security situation means travellers should remain prepared for further disruptions.
Wisma Putra is monitoring developments and coordinating consular support as the situation unfolds, while Malaysia continues to express solidarity with Saudi Arabia following the loss of civilian lives.
