<p>As most of us know, Malaysian films are not that well known for their CGI effects or usage as most of them are just typical dramas or comedy movies. But it looks like there&rsquo;s hope in the industry now.</p>
<p>A netizen wrote to him saying Sofyank could be the next generation of CGI filmmakers and that the local industry needs to buck up especially in terms of paying creatives properly.</p>

Malaysian YouTuber’s CGI Effects Dubbed Better Than Our Local Film Industry  

<p>Weed, cannabis or some may call it marijuana, which compound is considered taboo in some countries including Malaysia.</p>
<p>The title of this article itself might catch your attention or spark a little &lsquo;hope&rsquo; in some people in legalizing the compound for some reason.</p>
<p>Well, the study agrees that weed compounds may prevent COVID-19 infection but does not mean smoking it will&hellip;</p>
<p><strong>Able To Block Out The COVID-19 Virus</strong></p>
<p>The experts announced that chemical compounds in hemp may be able to prevent the access of COVID-19 virus into the human cells and shorten infection time, according to tests conducted by Oregon State University in America.</p>
<p>They discovered that a pair of cannabinoid acids from hemp (or known scientifically as Cannabis sativa) would bind to the coronavirus&rsquo; spike protein and block it from infecting the body.</p>
<p>The compounds are cannabigerolic acid, or CBGA, and cannabidiolic acid, CBDA.</p>
<p>Oregon State&rsquo;s Global Hemp Innovation Center, College of Pharmacy, and Linus Pauling Institute researcher Richard van Breemen quoted that:</p>
<p>&ldquo;They are not controlled substances like THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, and have a good safety profile in humans. And our research showed the hemp compounds were equally effective against variants of SARS-CoV-2, including variant B.1.1.7, which was first detected in the United Kingdom, and variant B.1.351, first detected in South Africa.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The <span style="color: #3598db;"><a style="color: #3598db;" href="https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/variants/variant-classifications.html">research</a> </span>stated the Alpha variant as B.1.1.7 while the Beta variant is B.1.351 and mentioned no findings on how the acids would react against other variants such as Delta and Omicron.</p>
<p>This ultimate finding regarding the use of hemp in COVID-19 was carried out by Oregon State&rsquo;s Global Hemp Innovation Center, College of Pharmacy, and Linus Pauling Institute researcher Richard van Breemen, along with six other scientists.</p>
<p>They have identified the two cannabinoid acids via a mass spectrometry-based screening technique invented in van Breemen&rsquo;s laboratory.</p>
<p>Nonetheless, the research was not meant for hemp alone as the team also conducted a range of botanicals used as dietary supplements including red clover, wild yam, hops, and three species of licorice.</p>
<p>&ldquo;These compounds can be taken orally and have a long history of safe use in humans.</p>
<p>&ldquo;They have the potential to prevent as well as treat infection by SARS-CoV-2. CBDA and CBGA are produced by the hemp plant as precursors to CBD and CBG, which are familiar to many consumers.</p>
<p>&ldquo;However, they are different from the acids and are not contained in hemp products,&rdquo; Breemen added.</p>
<p>Besides, Van Breemen also explained that it is not impossible for resistant variants to still arise amid widespread use of cannabinoids but added that the combination of vaccination and CBDA/CBGA treatment can make it tough for the virus from infecting the body.</p>

Study Finds Weed Compounds May Prevent COVID-19 Infections

<p>Every gamer out there knows that a PC is one of the most superior gaming devices you can get your hands on. But there&rsquo;s the issue of portability as some people would like to bring their devices around and play hence a console would be better.</p>

<p>Sony had released the PlayStation 5 in November 2020 and it&rsquo;s no stranger that everyone wants to get their hands on it. If you were to go to any Sony store around Malaysia or even other stores around the world, it&rsquo;s likely that you&rsquo;ll need to pre-order the device and we wouldn&rsquo;t know how long it will take to even get our hands on it.</p>
<p>The demand is so high that Sony couldn&rsquo;t keep up with it and had also cut down their production estimates from 16 million units to 15 million units by March 2022 due to the global silicon shortage.</p>
<p><strong>So, what&rsquo;s Sony&rsquo;s solution to the high demand?</strong></p>
<p>Well, since most people can&rsquo;t get the PS5, they had decided to make more PlayStation 4 consoles instead to cater for the high demand.</p>

<p>According to Bloomberg, Sony had initially planned to end the production of the PS4 in 2021 but plans had changed. Sony says that manufacturing the PS4 would be better as they are still using older components which cost way less than the PS5. Plus, their parts are more readily available.</p>
<p>Sony believes that by continuing the production of the PS4, they can ease the demand for the PS5 and also give themselves some leeway to deal with their manufacturing partners.</p>

<p>As of now, Sony denies all plans on discontinuing the PS4 production. To date, the console is dubbed as one of the best-selling consoles ever. Sony Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said that they wanted to make the transition from the PS4 to the PS5 as quick as possible back in 2019 but due to the pandemic, their plans had to undergo some changes.</p>
<p>Currently the PS5 has announced a growing list of games which will be exclusive to the console with big titles which can run much better on the newer hardware. One prime example would be Cyberpunk 2077 which had a ton of issues running on the PS4 which included graphical glitches and bugs which completely ruined the experience for console gamers.</p>

<p>Penunggang motosikal dan pemboncengnya bertemu ajal selepas motosikal yang ditunggangi mereka dirempuh sebuah kereta di Lebuhraya Kota Bharu menghala ke Ketereh, tengah malam tadi.</p>

<p>"Ketika kejadian keadaan jalan agak gelap, sebelum sebuah kereta dipercayai jenis Perodua Myvi berwarna oren melanggar bahagian belakang motosikal mangsa.</p>
<p>"Akibat perlanggaran itu, kedua-dua mangsa melambung sejauh kira-kira 30 meter dan terseret," katanya ketika dihubungi hari ini.</p>
<p>Beliau turut berkata, kedua-dua mangsa mengalami cedera parah, termasuk pembonceng wanita yang terputus tangan kanan dan disahkan meninggal dunia di tempat kejadian.</p>
<p>"Mayat mangsa masing-masing beralamat di Lorong Kubur Maras dan Kampung Kubang Batang, Wakaf Bharu, Tumpat dibawa ke Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Kubang Kerian untuk bedah siasat.</p>
<p>"Siasatan juga mendapati, kenderaan yang melanggar motosikal mangsa melarikan diri dan berdasarkan serpihan komponen yang ditemui di lokasi, polis mengesyaki ia adalah Perodua Myvi berwarna oren.</p>
<p>"Polis sedang mengesan pemandu dan kenderaan itu dan sebarang maklumat atau saksi kejadian diminta menghubungi Pegawai Penyiasat Trafik Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Kota Bharu, Inspektor Mohd Ikhwan Mamat di talian 013-9638060 untuk membantu siasatan.</p>

<p>A reddit post had went viral as a man had received a mysterious letter in his mailbox in Singapore. But guess what, the envelope has the Singapore Police Force logo at the corner and read &ldquo;Do not ignore this letter&rdquo;.</p>

<p>The reddit user caption &ldquo;this SPF letter has squid game vibes&rdquo; which he&rsquo;s not wrong. The post had received 1.3k upvotes on the popular forum site and many users were amused by the image. In fact, the real question here is if this is a new tactic sent by scammers in Singapore.</p>

<p>A fellow redditor pointed out how shady the letter looks like as there&rsquo;s no postmark nor address on it. Another redittor shared his horror story of how it may look like those threat letters that people used to receive in the past.</p>

<p>On another popular Singaporean forum, <a href="https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/received-letter-from-police.6677964/">Hardware Zone forum</a>, some people were also wary of the letter and feared for it to be fake.</p>
<p><strong>No need to worry Singaporeans as it isn&rsquo;t a scam</strong></p>
<p>The Singapore Police Force had reassured the public that the letter is not a scam.</p>

<p>In fact, the letter is actually from SPF to warn the public scams. The aim of it was to raise awareness of anti-scam via these leaflets which were distributed to homes across Singapore.</p>

<p>The anti-scam &ldquo;Spot the signs, stop the crimes&rdquo; campaign was launched back in August 2020.</p>
<p>Ever since the launch of the campaign, SPF and the National Crime Prevention Council had distributed various messages about the issue on multiple media platforms. They did this to ensure that their citizens are well educated when it comes to spotting tell-tale signs of a scam.</p>
<p>During the pandemic and the first half of 2021, Singapore had saw a 16% increase in scam cases where a total of $168 million (~RM521 million) was lost to conmen.</p>
<p>And before you ask, it&rsquo;s safe to assume that the police force definitely learnt a thing or two from Squid Game.</p>

<p>It&rsquo;s been a few weeks since Selangor had been hit with one of the worst floods in its history and many people are in the middle of recovery to live a normal life again.</p>
<p>The devastating floods had damaged many items belonging to families, especially their electrical appliances. But one thing we also have to remember is that there were kids in the floods too and they probably had lost a lot of their toys.</p>
<p>Some would label kids spoilt because they have many toys but this kid in Taman Sri Muda had touched the heart of Malaysians when a video of him went viral.</p>
<p>Non-government organization <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@myfundaction">@myfundaction</a> uploaded a video on TikTok showing their volunteering efforts for the flood relief help and one of their videos gained the attention of netizens. A volunteer had asked some questions to a boy while giving out free books to those affected by the floods.</p>

<p>The boy who came over was specifically looking for drawing books. The female volunteer asked the boy named Arash if his house was affected by the flood.</p>
<p>He had replied yes it was. His books however didn&rsquo;t go missing but had to be thrown out due to it being damaged by the flood. She had later asked about his toys and he replied that the toys didn&rsquo;t sink.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Oh, your toys didn&rsquo;t sink? They were all safe [from the flood]&rdquo; said the volunteer.</p>
<p>&ldquo;No. It&rsquo;s because we don&rsquo;t have toys&rdquo; said Arash.</p>
