Thanks to the internet&rsquo;s favourite Meme Connoisseur AKA Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, the value of Dogecoin had shot up &ldquo;to the moon&rdquo;.

The reason behind this is that Tesla recently announced that they will begin accepting the cryptocurrency as legal tender. Musk had even gone to his Twitter stating that consumers can purchase &ldquo;some merchandise&rdquo; with Dogecoin.

As soon as he had announced that, the value of Dogecoin had rose by 15% from RM0.67 to RM0.88. At the time of writing this article, the coin is currently priced at RM0.77. The decision of this was anticipated as a couple months ago, he had agreed with his Twitter followers that Tesla should accept the coin as payment.
For those who did not know, Dogecoin has been around since 2013 where it was created by software engineer Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. It all started off as a joke but within two weeks of it&rsquo;s debut, the coin had rose in value from US$0.00026 (~RM0.0011) to US$0.00095 (~RM0.0040).

If you follow the man on Twitter, you can sometimes realise that he&rsquo;s the reason why cryptocurrency had fluctuating value due to some reasons. Earlier in the year, he had managed to raise the value of Bitcoin from RM150K to RM180K as he had purchased US$1.5 billion (~RM6.35 billion) worth of the digital currency.
Even back in May 2021, when Musk clarified that Tesla did not sell any of their bitcoin and when he started s**tposting, the price had dropped by 20%.

In fact, previously he had also drove the prices of the <a href="https://myc.com.my/articles/623/crypto-shiba-inu-coin-storms-up-to-the-11th-biggest-crypto-currency-in-the-world">Shiba Inu coin to drop</a> by 10% as he stated he did not own any of the currency.
When you really think of it, Musk is pretty smart (I am if it isn&rsquo;t obvious enough) cause he manages to fund SpaceX from crypto alone. If one were to closely follow how Musk invests into crypto, I&rsquo;m sure people can make it big here as one simple cryoto related tweet can definitely shake the market up.

Public transport operator Rapid KL will be extending and enhancing its rail operations between 23 and 27 May 2025, in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit set to take place in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. The temporary changes are designed to manage a significant rise in commuter traffic and facilitate seamless travel for both local passengers and foreign delegates attending the high-level summit.
One-Hour Extension of Peak Rail Services

<li>Evening peak hours will extend from 4.30pm to 8.00pm (previously 5.00pm to 7.30pm)</li>
</ul>
The adjustments apply to all major Rapid KL rail lines, including the Kelana Jaya, Ampang/Sri Petaling, Kajang, Putrajaya, and KL Monorail lines. The move is expected to benefit daily commuters and help disperse travel loads more efficiently, especially during the early morning rush and evening return hours.
Enhanced Weekend Train Frequencies
In addition to the extended operating hours on weekdays, Rapid KL will also increase train frequencies on Saturday, 24 May, and Sunday, 25 May, when summit-related activities and city tourism are expected to peak.

Additional Manpower and Operational Readiness
To ensure a high standard of service delivery throughout the summit period, Rapid KL has announced the deployment of 400 additional personnel across strategically selected rail stations. These staff members will be tasked with assisting passengers, providing guidance to ASEAN delegates, and maintaining order during peak times.
The transport operator also confirmed it will be actively monitoring passenger volumes and train operations in real time, with contingency measures in place should there be an unexpected surge in demand. Extra trains are on standby, ready to be dispatched if necessary.
This operational boost reflects Prasarana&rsquo;s commitment to providing a reliable and efficient transport system during one of the most important multilateral events hosted by Malaysia in recent years.

ZUS Coffee Enters The Tea Game – And CHAGEE Might Just Be In Their Crosshairs

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been grappling with widespread online service disruptions since late April, and now, serious allegations have emerged suggesting that the city&rsquo;s systems may have been the target of a major cyberattack. The incident has sparked public concern, parliamentary scrutiny, and mounting pressure on DBKL to provide a full and transparent explanation.
MP Tan Kok Wai Alleges Hacking and Ransom Demand

Cheras Member of Parliament (MP) Tan Kok Wai recently alleged that DBKL&rsquo;s online infrastructure was compromised by hackers who demanded a staggering USD55 million (~RM236 million) in ransom. According to Tan, this information came from a highly reliable source, though not directly from Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif. Nonetheless, he stated he had sufficient reason to believe the claim was credible.
Tan questioned the prolonged service disruption, arguing that if it were a routine technical glitch, it should not have taken more than three weeks to resolve. "This clearly points to a more severe issue than has been publicly acknowledged," he remarked.
Concerns Over Public Data and Communication Breakdown

The MP further raised alarms over the potential compromise of public data. He highlighted that DBKL&rsquo;s facial recognition system, used to enter its premises, has also failed. Tan also criticised the lack of communication from DBKL. He said he contacted the Mayor&rsquo;s special assistant on 8 May requesting a meeting, but had not received any follow-up. "I&rsquo;m not just bringing this up for political reasons. My constituency&rsquo;s public facilities also need urgent attention. It has been ten days with no reply whatsoever," he said.
Other Members of Parliament have joined Tan in demanding answers. Seputeh MP Teresa Kok reported receiving public complaints over long queues at DBKL offices due to the digital outage. Meanwhile, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng urged DBKL to issue a formal explanation about what has gone wrong with their systems.
Tan further noted that key internal meetings between MPs and the KL Mayor have not taken place. The last known consultation was on 15 April, and meetings scheduled for May have yet to occur. He expressed concern that DBKL&rsquo;s usual governance processes may be disrupted due to the IT system failures.
Impacted Services and Alternative Measures

The city hall said it has been working closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) to address the issues. They stated that systems began gradually recovering from 1 May and that full restoration is anticipated by 23 May.

Tan Kok Wai has called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, and Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif to break their silence and provide a detailed public briefing.
"The public has a right to know. DBKL cannot keep silent in the face of such a serious issue. It must take responsibility and assure citizens that their data and services are safe," said Tan.
A Crisis of Confidence
The incident has sparked a broader debate about cybersecurity readiness within public institutions. Questions are being raised about how DBKL safeguards sensitive data, how often its systems are audited, and whether it has robust contingency plans in place for cyberattacks.
Earlier in late March, Malaysia Airports was hit by a cyberattack and the government had called for the strengthening and investment in cybersecurity infrastructure to prevent similar incidents from happening.

What Is SPayLater?

Instalments up to three months typically carry no extra fees for buyers, but longer tenures can incur charges of up to 36%, depending on the duration.
However, while buyers may choose whether or not to use SPayLater, sellers are automatically enrolled in the programme with no option to opt out. This means they must absorb the associated transaction fee regardless of whether they benefit directly from the instalment feature.
Why Are Sellers Frustrated?

Among those voicing concern is Loh, a power tool seller who requested partial anonymity. Speaking to local media, Loh said that the compounding cost of selling on Shopee&mdash;including this new SPayLater fee&mdash;is driving him to reconsider the platform entirely.
&ldquo;My business has to contend with more and more extra fees, and I&rsquo;d need to hire someone just to operate and manage the sales channel,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;That&rsquo;s pushed my business away from focusing too much effort towards selling on Shopee.&rdquo;
A Pattern of Increasing Charges

Shopee Hikes SPayLater Seller Fee To 4.5% From 8 May

Malaysia&rsquo;s real wages have deteriorated drastically over the past four decades, leaving today&rsquo;s workforce with significantly reduced purchasing power, former Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim warned in a recent interview with Sinar Harian. He remarked that many Malaysian graduates are now trapped in low-income jobs despite the country&rsquo;s economic growth, and are increasingly unable to meet basic life milestones such as home or car ownership.
Recalling his own experience, Muhammad said he earned RM1,300 upon entering the job market in 1984. Today, a typical fresh graduate earns between RM2,000 and RM3,000 monthly&mdash;a marginal increase in nominal terms that doesn&rsquo;t reflect the sharp rise in living costs. When adjusted for inflation&mdash;assuming a conservative annual rate of 5%&mdash;today&rsquo;s graduates should be earning closer to RM7,000 to RM8,000 to match the purchasing power of their 1980s counterparts.
&ldquo;In real terms, salaries today are only a third of what they used to be,&rdquo; he said, adding that if current trends continue, today&rsquo;s young people may never enjoy the same quality of life his generation did.

&ldquo;Without major reforms in our education and economic frameworks, we are condemning our youth to a future dominated by low-skilled, low-paying jobs,&rdquo; he said. He warned that Malaysia continues to lag behind other nations that were once on par with or even behind Malaysia in the 1960s, including Taiwan, South Korea, China, and Japan&mdash;all of which now enjoy far higher standards of living due to sustained structural reform.
Foreign Labour Suppressing Wage Growth

These foreign workers primarily fill 3D (dirty, dangerous, and difficult) jobs in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, food services, and domestic work. While these jobs are often shunned by locals, the influx of low-cost labour from countries like Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Nepal has created wage suppression for Malaysians in similar roles.
&ldquo;When employers can hire workers cheaply, they have no incentive to raise wages for locals. This affects our citizens directly, particularly those in the B40 segment,&rdquo; Muhammad explained.

JA Solar, for its part, has already announced it will open a new manufacturing plant in Oman by the end of 2025 as part of a broader strategy to diversify away from tariff-hit countries and reduce reliance on the US market.
