Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) have really been trending lately. No matter where you go, there&rsquo;s someone who definitely shared something NFT related, and you can&rsquo;t help but seeing how crazy the figures are.
In fact, people had become instant millionaires thanks to it.
Recently, a Singaporean influencer Yuqing Irene Zhao, 28, had made S$7.5 million (~RM23.3 million) within 10 days! Best part of it all was that she had meme&rsquo;d herself in these NFT&rsquo;s with slags such as &ldquo;Up Only&rdquo;, &ldquo;Wen Moon&rdquo;, and &ldquo;Damp It&rdquo;.
The collection is known as <a href="https://opensea.io/collection/irenedao">IreneDAO</a> and is listed on Opensea and consist of 1,107 items.
The cheapest NFT in the current collection is currently priced at 0.9 Ethereum (ETH) which is worth approximately S$3,000 (~RM 9,351).

According to Opensea, the entire collection has a value of 2,300 ETH.

Among all the NFT&rsquo;s her &ldquo;Have Fun Staying Poor&rdquo; NFT is valued at 1000 ETH (~RM9.8 million) which is the most expensive NFT in the collection.

What started off as a joke became business
Initially, the collection was started off as a Telegram sticker pack. A fan of Zhao had suggested that it should be turned into an NFT collection.
Zhao is a National University of Singapore (NUS) graduate who worked as a commodity broker before dabbing into crypto in the early 2021.
The collection is fully own by Zhao and is distributed with a free mint.
For those who didn&rsquo;t know, minting an NFT is how digital art becomes a part of the Ethereum blockchain where it becomes unchangeable and tamper-proof. It&rsquo;s similar to metal coins as they are minted and added into circulation.&nbsp;

If you really wanted to know how popular these became, big names such as Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz and even YouTuber Logan Paul had purchased it.
Creating a decentralised social networking project
Zhao and her business partner Benjamin Tang said that it&rsquo;s part of their dream of building &ldquo;Social Collectibles&rdquo; or &ldquo;So-Col&rdquo;.
So-Col is a decentralised social networking platform where other content creators or influencers can turn their social media content into non-fungible collectible items. The main aim is to help monetise content and build communities with their fans.
The money from the project will be funnelled into the IreneDAO community and used to &ldquo;experiment the best ways of integrating Web3 into the creator economy&rdquo;.
What&rsquo;s DAO?
DAO stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization which is an internet community which pools a shared Ethereum wallet.
If one were to purchase the NFT, it will double as a membership to IreneDAO&rsquo;s &ldquo;Genesis Tribe&rdquo;

The thread contains information of achievements she&rsquo;s had with her NFT and also the concept behind it. Zhao also said that she can now earn money as a content creator as fans can support her work by pumping money directly into things, she produces which is more effective in investing in.
Previously, she had to produce content and rely on sponsored post which projects her audience towards product placements in her photos.

She explains that in Web 2.0, the platforms are &ldquo;walled gardens&rdquo; and that people are the products instead of the promoted item itself.
With the shift to Web 3.0, there&rsquo;s a high chance of seeing many other content creators such as Zhao earning royalties off their work directly from supporters without needing other intermediaries.
It&rsquo;s an interesting way of putting things to perspective as all earnings will go directly to the content creator. If this keeps up, this will be a game changer for all content creators out there. But how long will the crypto trend continue as recently we saw Bitcoin dropping to it&rsquo;s all new low recently. &nbsp;

The 27-year-old shuttler provided no caption or explanation, but the images alone were enough to set off alarm bells. Fans noted that he had changed his profile picture to a pitch-black screen and closed his comment section entirely &mdash; signs that he might be withdrawing from public engagement.
Many interpreted the post as an unspoken cry for help or a symbolic representation of an internal struggle, possibly linked to his challenging year both on and off the court.

Lee Zii Jia’s Troubling Instagram Post Sparks Widespread Concern Over Athlete Mental Health

A well-meaning attempt to help his sister secure off-campus housing turned into a costly ordeal for a local man, after he was allegedly scammed out of RM1,400 by a fake property agent. The incident, which took place in Cheras, has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), sparking concern over growing online rental fraud in Malaysia.

In a X (formally known as Twitter) thread that has since been widely shared, user Fazeem recounted how he was trying to assist his sister and her friends in finding a new home, as their university dormitory contracts were expiring in early July. After searching online, he came across what seemed like the perfect unit listed on Mudah.my &ndash; a popular local marketplace &ndash; and contacted the supposed owner on 16 June.
A viewing was arranged for 18 June at Parc 3, Cheras, where Fazeem met a man who presented himself confidently as the unit&rsquo;s rightful owner. &ldquo;He gave me his IC, showed me a past tenancy agreement, and really played the part,&rdquo; Fazeem explained, adding that the man was so convincing that he didn&rsquo;t feel the need to question anything at the time.
Booking Fee Paid, Agreement Signed

Trusting that everything was in order, Fazeem proceeded to transfer a RM1,400 booking fee to secure the unit. He received a tenancy agreement on 21 June, which he signed and returned two days later. According to their arrangement, he was due to receive the keys on 26 or 27 June.
However, things began to unravel when the man suddenly demanded an additional RM2,200, stating that the remaining RM1,400 could be paid in July. This raised red flags for Fazeem, who replied that he would only pay after receiving the keys. The man agreed &mdash; but that was the last Fazeem ever heard from him.
Sudden Disappearance

By 28 June, the scammer had completely disappeared. Phone calls went straight to voicemail, WhatsApp showed the number as &ldquo;not registered&rdquo;, and the individual had deleted his account. &ldquo;He vanished just like that,&rdquo; Fazeem wrote, frustrated. &ldquo;I only wanted to help my sister and her friends find a place before their lease ends on 5 July. These scammers are too slick nowadays &mdash; always verify everything before handing over money.&rdquo;
Fazeem has since lodged a police report and is now awaiting further investigation by the authorities.

After sharing his experience, Fazeem was contacted by other social media users who claimed they too had been duped by the same man. One reposted tweet by user @ChristyMacr showed alleged photos of the scammer and his car, with another commenter claiming they had been scammed by him back in 2019, and the case was still unresolved.
&ldquo;He&rsquo;s using someone else&rsquo;s IC. That&rsquo;s not even his real name,&rdquo; another user claimed, suggesting a pattern of identity fraud.

Airbnb Properties Used as Props
According to other reports, the scammer allegedly rents Airbnb units for short stays and uses them as bait during property viewings. According to the Brickfields District Police, the incident began around 11pm on 1 July when a black Honda City, driven by a 28-year-old man, was struck on its right-side mirror by a red Toyota Yaris near Jalan Desa. What began as a routine fender-bender turned heated as the drivers exited their vehicles and confronted one another.
The situation took a dangerous turn when the driver of the Toyota Yaris suddenly pulled out what appeared to be a black pistol and pointed it directly at the complainant. The weapon was allegedly used to threaten the victim during the argument, creating a highly distressing scene.
Fearing for his safety, the Honda driver lodged a police report at 12.55am the following morning. Police officers responded swiftly to the report and managed to apprehend two suspects, aged 19 and 27, later that day.
Weapon Found to Be Replica Purchased on TikTok
