Well recently a 19-year-old security researcher David Colombo had found a way to gain remote access to over 50 Tesla vehicles. And no, it isn&rsquo;t in one location but all over the world!

Rather than being a notorious master mind like some criminals, he had tried to warn the others about the vulnerability, so he obtained their email addresses through another security flaw to warn them.
In his writeup about the issue, Colombo had emphasised that Tesla&rsquo;s infrastructure was the main issue behind it. He security flaw stems from a third-party Tesla data-logger called TeslaMate. It&rsquo;s a tool which gives detailed reports about your charging, driving, efficiency, energy consumption and many more. Unfortunately, TeslaMate stores some of Tesla&rsquo;s API Keys unencrypted which allows Colombo to run his own commands on Tesla&rsquo;s remotely.
If he had access to the cars, can he drive it though?

On a good note, he can&rsquo;t. But one thing to note is that his vulnerability access can let him control the doors, windows, horn, stereo volume and even disabling the Sentry Mode. One thing he could have done was using the auto-summon function which can actually cause the car to hit something.

Very interesting&hellip;
The vulnerability issue was first noticed by Colombo in October 2021. Best part of it was he posted a detailed map of a driver&rsquo;s route. As a test for the commands, he had reached out to a compromised Tesla owner and asked for him permission to remotely honk the horn.

Here&rsquo;s another part, with this, he had found more security flaws within Tesla as Tesla&rsquo;s digital car key had allowed him to get their email address where he could even query the address with revoked access.

Being the good samaritan he is, Colombo had reached out to Tesla and TeslaMate about the issue and they have updated their systems with a fix. So far, there hasn&rsquo;t been an issue as both Tesla and TeslaMate had revoked &ldquo;thousands of keys&rdquo;. And if you&rsquo;re wondering, no Colombo does not have any access to these vehicles anymore.
One thing to highlight is that Colombo is eligible for a bug bounty for his digital car key vulnerability discovery but unfortunately, he does not know how much the exact amount would be yet.
As a joke he ended by saying that he hopes that the money can cover the coffee bills over the last 2 weeks from working on this discovery.

If it&rsquo;s one I&rsquo;d like to say is that we are definitely not fully ready for electric cars. I don&rsquo;t have any hate on it, but I think it&rsquo;s better for us to use our petrol cars first. One main reason is due to the lack of charging stations all over Malaysia. Until we address the problem, we can then start using electric cars.

A minor traffic accident in Taman Desa quickly escalated into a serious confrontation after one of the parties involved allegedly brandished a fake pistol, leading to the arrest of two men. The alarming incident, which unfolded late on Monday night, has reignited concerns over public safety and the growing trend of imitation weapons being purchased online.

According to the Brickfields District Police, the incident began around 11pm on 1 July when a black Honda City, driven by a 28-year-old man, was struck on its right-side mirror by a red Toyota Yaris near Jalan Desa. What began as a routine fender-bender turned heated as the drivers exited their vehicles and confronted one another.
The situation took a dangerous turn when the driver of the Toyota Yaris suddenly pulled out what appeared to be a black pistol and pointed it directly at the complainant. The weapon was allegedly used to threaten the victim during the argument, creating a highly distressing scene.
Fearing for his safety, the Honda driver lodged a police report at 12.55am the following morning. Police officers responded swiftly to the report and managed to apprehend two suspects, aged 19 and 27, later that day.
Weapon Found to Be Replica Purchased on TikTok

Initial investigations revealed that the weapon used in the confrontation was not a real firearm but a replica pistol. According to police, the fake gun had been purchased through the popular social media platform TikTok by one of the suspects.
Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood confirmed the detail in a statement, noting that the weapon was &ldquo;an imitation, not capable of discharging live ammunition, but still capable of causing fear and alarm among the public.&rdquo;
He further revealed that one of the suspects may have been under the influence of alcohol during the incident, although this aspect of the investigation is ongoing.
Four-Day Remand Granted

Both men were brought before a magistrate and have been remanded for four days, until 5 July, to assist police with their enquiries. Authorities are now pursuing charges under two separate legal provisions.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which carries a punishment of up to seven years' imprisonment, a fine, or both. Additionally, the suspects are also being investigated under Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960 for possession of an imitation firearm, which carries similar penalties upon conviction.

The case gained public attention after a video of the incident began circulating on social media, showing one of the suspects pointing the weapon during the verbal altercation. The footage drew strong criticism from netizens, with many expressing concern over the ease of access to imitation firearms online, especially through unregulated platforms such as TikTok.

&ldquo;The public must understand that road rage incidents can have serious consequences. Brandishing any form of weapon, even an imitation, is a criminal offence that we take very seriously,&rdquo; he said.

A ferry travelling from Ketapang Port in East Java to Gilimanuk Port in Bali sank late on Wednesday night (2 July 2025), just 25 minutes into its journey across the Bali Strait, one of Indonesia&rsquo;s busiest inter-island routes. Teachers were mentored by IEEE student volunteers, who helped them explore how AI could be used to solve community challenges.
One standout project was a visual aid device for the visually impaired, developed by a team of teachers with no prior coding experience. Using image recognition and motion sensors, they prototyped a tool that could guide visually impaired students through school corridors &mdash; a powerful reminder of how innovation can arise when empathy and technology intersect.

The Sarawak government now appears committed to expanding this initiative statewide, with strong indications that similar programmes will reach rural and interior schools in the near future. Premier Abang Johari has reiterated his belief that AI should be woven into every sector &mdash; and that education is where this transformation must begin.
Deputy Minister Abdullah also highlighted the importance of collaboration between ministries, universities, and civil society in building a tech-literate population. &ldquo;The interest is already there among our teachers. Our job is to nurture it, support it, and scale it.&rdquo;

But to fund this lifestyle, Afiq crosses the Malaysia-Singapore border every single day to work as a Grab delivery rider in the city-state.

Beyond that, riders must stay constantly alert &mdash; navigating traffic, avoiding accidents, and meeting tight delivery timelines.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s either scorching hot or you get drenched,&rdquo; he explains. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s exhausting, and you&rsquo;re risking your life on the road every single day.&rdquo;
His typical day may not involve office meetings or air-conditioned cubicles, but it demands more stamina and situational awareness than many white-collar jobs.
Despite the hardships, Afiq says mental discipline is the key. &ldquo;You are your own boss, but people forget that being a boss is hard. There&rsquo;s no one chasing you to work &mdash; so you have to be consistent and motivated.&rdquo;

He keeps detailed records, sets weekly targets (like hitting 180 orders), and takes advantage of platform incentives. On one particular week in May, he earned S$1,283 before incentives, and an additional S$150 bonus for reaching his delivery goal.
But it&rsquo;s not all sunshine and windfalls. &ldquo;If I take a week off, my income drops to around S$4,000,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;But if I work every day &mdash; seven days a week for the whole month &mdash; I can get close to S$7,000.&rdquo;

&ldquo;I feel less stressed, less cramped, and more at peace,&rdquo; he shared. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s the best of both worlds &mdash; I earn in Singapore, but I live in comfort in Malaysia.&rdquo;
No Career Ladder, But a Path to Freedom
While Afiq is proud of his achievements, he is realistic about the nature of platform work. &ldquo;There&rsquo;s no promotion, no HR department planning your career,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s not for everyone. You have to make it work for you.&rdquo;
He praises Grab for offering workshops and training to equip riders with skills, but maintains that success ultimately depends on personal discipline. &ldquo;The flexibility is great &mdash; but don&rsquo;t misuse it. Set goals. Stick to them. Show up every day.&rdquo;

In response to these challenges, the Ministry of Health has moved forward with legislative reforms designed to bolster Malaysia&rsquo;s specialist workforce and ensure fairer access to advanced medical care.
Effective from 1 July, the Medical (Amendment) Regulations 2025 and the Medical Act (Amendment) 2024 have come into force. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad described the changes as a major step towards creating a more transparent, inclusive, and competency-based system for medical specialists.
Key features of the amendments include:

<li>Streamlining recognition and registration of specialists from both the Parallel Pathway and local postgraduate programmes.</li>
<li>Ensuring fair and competency-based evaluation processes.</li>

Dr Dzulkefly added that the first wave of specialists under the Parallel Pathway would cover cardiothoracic surgery, plastic surgery, and family medicine, while genetic pathology would be included under the Master Programme route.
The reforms aim not only to fill existing gaps in specialist availability but also to provide long-term stability for Malaysia&rsquo;s healthcare system&mdash;by improving training pipelines, retaining local talent, and ensuring more equitable distribution of expertise across the country.
