On June 29th 2022, thousands of young job seekers gathered at the Asia Pacific University of Technology &amp; Innovation, where its Mega Career Fair made its physical comeback after a two-year hiatus due to the global pandemic.
There was a huge turnout of excited students, who were warmly greeted by more than 400 recruiting personnel in 120 booths from top-notch companies such as AirAsia, Maybank, CIMB, Hong Leong Bank, Alliance Bank, KPMG, Great Eastern, DHL, BDO, MAXIS, Coca-Cola and many more, in which half of the companies were open to hiring international students, as APU has more than 13,000 international students from over 130 countries.

APU&rsquo;s CEO Datuk Parmjit Singh reminds brands leaders that APU students do not merely emerge as graduates with a degree, but as professionals in their fields who are highly capable and competent to begin their careers right after graduating, hence why there was no surprise to know that there were around 6400 job offerings at the Mega Career Fair, which includes 3498 full-time job vacancies, and over 3000 internship positions, proving that many brands are on the lookout for APU graduates because of how well prepared and equipped the students truly are.
In conjunction with the career fair, APU has also initiated its &ldquo;Exclusive Partner Engagement Programme&rdquo;, in which it now officially assists brand employers in Talent Acquisition, Upskilling and Retention.&nbsp; "I think APU has done a better job compared to many others in preparing their students or young professionals to come into the workforce,&rdquo; stated Sanjay Sidhu, Executive Director for BDO Governance Advisory Sdn. Bhd, who has been hiring APU graduates for the past six years, due to the students&rsquo; high competency and expertise in the field. &ldquo;

&ldquo;I think today's response in the career fair is a clear testimony to what APU students stand for and what you can see from them, the drive!&nbsp; Today's response shows that APU students want to drive their success throughout their campus career and also follow up with their actual careers,&rdquo; said Vishnu Varthan, Hilti Asia IT Services.

The career fair was so successful that it even attracted undergraduates outside of APU, as Racheal Bingas, Siti Nabilah Mohd Noor and Norliana Akilah Mohammad Adam walked in from Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and discovered that the event was a good opportunity for all graduates to come and look for a job.
Overall, the event had created golden opportunities for all graduating students to secure employment and internship, whereas the employers had a one-on-one and direct access to a large pool of talented, professionally developed students.

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has suffered a legal setback after the High Court in Kuala Lumpur dismissed his bid to seek constitutional immunity from a civil lawsuit filed by his former research assistant. The lawsuit, which accuses Anwar of sexual assault in 2018, is now set to proceed to trial on 16 June.

&ldquo;There is no express constitutional or statutory immunity accorded to a sitting prime minister for private acts committed before assuming office,&rdquo; she said. She also emphasised that constitutional guarantees of equal protection under the law mean equal treatment, not exemption.
The court ordered Anwar to pay RM20,000 in costs to the plaintiff, Muhammad Yusoff Rawther. Anwar&rsquo;s legal team has since indicated plans to appeal the decision and request a stay of the upcoming trial.

The plaintiff had previously lodged a statutory declaration and a police report in 2019, although the Attorney General&rsquo;s Chambers announced in January 2020 that it would not pursue criminal charges due to insufficient evidence.
In a statement following the High Court's ruling, Anwar maintained that his application was &ldquo;never about seeking personal immunity or escaping legal scrutiny,&rdquo; but rather about upholding the constitutional integrity of the Prime Minister&rsquo;s office. He argued that strategic litigation of this nature could disrupt governance and affect executive duties.

Malaysian police have confirmed that the decomposed body found at a construction site in Bangsar is that of Jordan Michael John Johnson-Doyle, a 25-year-old British software engineer who had been reported missing since 2 June.

The discovery was made during a search operation on 4 June, at a partially completed condominium along Lorong Maarof. The search was initiated after Johnson-Doyle&rsquo;s movements were traced to the area. Over 30 officers took part in combing the site, and at approximately 5pm, a body was found face-down in a partially submerged lift shaft at one of the still-under-construction blocks.
Tattoo Identification and Autopsy Results

&ldquo;There were no signs of foul play or criminal elements at the scene,&rdquo; said Rusdi. &ldquo;The case has been classified as a sudden death.&rdquo;
The body, which was discovered with most of its clothing removed, was recovered at around 9.30pm on the day of the search and taken for forensic examination.

He had sent a photograph from the bar to a friend, but after that, his phone went silent and his social media activity abruptly stopped. Concerned family members, unable to reach him, reported his disappearance to the authorities.
Staff at the bar confirmed his attendance that evening, but were unable to provide further details about his departure or movements afterward.
Public Urged Not to Speculate

Body Found At Bangsar Construction Site Confirmed To Be Missing British Man

Singapore will be acquiring two plots of land currently owned by the Malaysian government as part of its ambitious redevelopment plan for the Woodlands Checkpoint &mdash; one of the busiest land border crossings in the world. The move, which aims to address persistent traffic congestion and improve cross-border travel efficiency, was formally gazetted on Wednesday, 4 June 2025.
In a joint statement, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) confirmed that the acquisition, involving a total of 0.79 hectares of unused, vegetated land, forms a central part of the broader phased expansion. The parcels are located near the core of the proposed redevelopment zone and are slightly larger than a football field in total area.

A fatal accident involving a Taiwanese man who fell onto the Light Rail Transit (LRT) tracks at Pusat Bandar Puchong has prompted renewed scrutiny over safety standards at Malaysia&rsquo;s public transport hubs. Transport Minister Anthony Loke has since instructed Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, the LRT system operator, to accelerate the installation of platform screen doors across all LRT stations to prevent similar tragedies.
Evening Commute Turns Tragic

The victim, later identified as 63-year-old Chang Pao Shih from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, died on the evening of Tuesday, 3 June 2025, after reportedly falling onto the tracks at around 5.54pm. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 6.05pm and swiftly deployed a team from the Subang Jaya fire station.
According to Assistant Director of Operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, the man was found unconscious beneath the train tracks and was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial confusion surrounded his identity and the circumstances of the incident, but authorities later confirmed his nationality and retrieved his passport from the scene.
CCTV Footage Points to Accident

Transport Minister Loke, speaking at a press conference, confirmed that closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the incident unfolding, and that there were no indications of foul play.
&ldquo;A report was presented by Prasarana yesterday, and it was an accident whereby the person may not have been aware about the platform,&rdquo; he stated. &ldquo;Let the police do their investigation. The CCTV recording will be shared with the police so they can conduct a detailed probe.&rdquo;
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been informed to coordinate with the Taiwanese embassy to assist in notifying and supporting the victim&rsquo;s next of kin.
Safety Barriers Now a Priority

&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve asked Prasarana to make the necessary arrangements. They are currently in the planning stage and we hope to push this initiative forward,&rdquo; Loke said, noting that the installation process will require substantial financial support.
&ldquo;To retrofit older stations with these doors will incur a huge cost and we will need additional budgets,&rdquo; he acknowledged. Nevertheless, the minister emphasised that improving commuter safety must remain a national priority.

Following the February incident, Loke announced that his ministry would explore the use of &ldquo;smart&rdquo; CCTV systems capable of detecting erratic or risky behaviour. However, the most recent fatality has added urgency to calls for more tangible infrastructure upgrades, particularly the installation of physical barriers.
