It&rsquo;s a dark day for the music industry and for those who are fans of Hip-Hop as Takeoff from the chart-topping group Migos was shot dead.
Kirshnik Khari Ball or better known as Takeoff had been shot dead during a shooting that happened in Houston.
What had happened?

According to reports, a shooting had took place about 2:30am on a balcony outside the 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley where he was playing dice with bandmate, Quavo and his uncle. In the area, there had been a private party with 40-50 guests and someone had opened fire.
When authorities arrived at the scene, there had been a large crowd around a man (Takeoff) with a gunshot wound to the head/neck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers also confirmed that two other people were injured and had been driven to the hospital in private vehicles.
Reports state that the shooting had occurred when an argument broke out over the game of dice and when shots were fired, a stray bullet had struct Takeoff.
During a press conference, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner had pleased for witnesses of the crime to come forward.
&ldquo;Please step up, get the information to us so we can bring some closure to his family who&rsquo;s hurting right now,&rdquo; he said.

Migos Considered Pioneers in Rap

Migos were considered one of the most influential groups out there who pioneered a style of rapping in a choppy, staccato triplets which was dubbed as the &ldquo;Migos Flow&rdquo;.
The three &ndash; Takeoff, Offset and Quavo had grew up together in Lawrenceville, Georgia before moving to the state&rsquo;s capital, Atlanta which is considered the home of trap music. Coming from a very poor background, Takeoff had once said that creating music had offered the band an escape route from poverty.
"In my spare time, I'd record myself. Find a beat... just making something and creating for me. I'd wait for Quavo to get back from football practice and I'd play my songs for him,&rdquo; said Takeoff.
In 2016, the band had went mainstream with their song Bad and Boujee which till now remains one of the most iconic hits due to its lyrics, beat and even the memes. Despite Takeoff not appearing in that particular single, it did cause controversy but he had brushed it off and claimed that he was unavailable for the recording session at the time.

The song was later nominated for a Grammy award. Although they had not win it, the song still cemented their statis as one of the most influential acts.
The band later released their second album, &ldquo;Culture&rdquo;, and landed the #1 spot in the US. In the same year (2017), they even collaborated with Calvin Harris and Frank Ocean where their song <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ee4QjCEHHc">Slide</a> had reached the UK top 10 hits.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Offset says that Takeoff is the youngest member of Migos and was often quiet in public. &ldquo;He analyse a lot, that&rsquo;s why I think his raps be so strong,&rdquo; said Offset.
Despite of their international success, the band had split up earlier this year due to a disagreement with Offset and Quavo had said that the split had mainly got to do with the three brothers and nothing to do with the label, paperwork or QC.
Quavo and Takeoff later continued as a duo and released their album &lsquo;<a href="https://open.spotify.com/album/59hIIDzaPSH5O3QSz4zX0t?si=hnKFy6C6SCWBLByp4TimZQ">Only Built For Infinity Links</a>&rsquo; which reached #7 on the US charts.
As someone who frequently listens to their music, it's sad to hear this happen. This also goes to show that the US will need to do something about their gun laws as innocent lives are lost every day.

Migos Rapper ‘TakeOff’ Dead At The Age Of 28

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been grappling with widespread online service disruptions since late April, and now, serious allegations have emerged suggesting that the city&rsquo;s systems may have been the target of a major cyberattack. The incident has sparked public concern, parliamentary scrutiny, and mounting pressure on DBKL to provide a full and transparent explanation.
MP Tan Kok Wai Alleges Hacking and Ransom Demand

Cheras Member of Parliament (MP) Tan Kok Wai recently alleged that DBKL&rsquo;s online infrastructure was compromised by hackers who demanded a staggering USD55 million (~RM236 million) in ransom. According to Tan, this information came from a highly reliable source, though not directly from Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif. Nonetheless, he stated he had sufficient reason to believe the claim was credible.
Tan questioned the prolonged service disruption, arguing that if it were a routine technical glitch, it should not have taken more than three weeks to resolve. "This clearly points to a more severe issue than has been publicly acknowledged," he remarked.
Concerns Over Public Data and Communication Breakdown

The MP further raised alarms over the potential compromise of public data. He highlighted that DBKL&rsquo;s facial recognition system, used to enter its premises, has also failed. Tan also criticised the lack of communication from DBKL. He said he contacted the Mayor&rsquo;s special assistant on 8 May requesting a meeting, but had not received any follow-up. "I&rsquo;m not just bringing this up for political reasons. My constituency&rsquo;s public facilities also need urgent attention. It has been ten days with no reply whatsoever," he said.
Other Members of Parliament have joined Tan in demanding answers. Seputeh MP Teresa Kok reported receiving public complaints over long queues at DBKL offices due to the digital outage. Meanwhile, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng urged DBKL to issue a formal explanation about what has gone wrong with their systems.
Tan further noted that key internal meetings between MPs and the KL Mayor have not taken place. The last known consultation was on 15 April, and meetings scheduled for May have yet to occur. He expressed concern that DBKL&rsquo;s usual governance processes may be disrupted due to the IT system failures.
Impacted Services and Alternative Measures

The city hall said it has been working closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) to address the issues. They stated that systems began gradually recovering from 1 May and that full restoration is anticipated by 23 May.

"The public has a right to know. DBKL cannot keep silent in the face of such a serious issue. It must take responsibility and assure citizens that their data and services are safe," said Tan.
A Crisis of Confidence
The incident has sparked a broader debate about cybersecurity readiness within public institutions. Questions are being raised about how DBKL safeguards sensitive data, how often its systems are audited, and whether it has robust contingency plans in place for cyberattacks.
