Travelling around Malaysia can be a pain sometimes as we only have a limited number of flights that can access to certain places around Malaysia. But when we say limited, we mean by choices of airlines to choose from. Typically, in Malaysia, we have flights from Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Firefly, Batik Air (formally Malindo Air), Lion Air and more recently Scoot which transport us to a handful of states in Malaysia.

Introducing A New Low-Cost Airline
This time around, Malaysians would be delighted to know that they now have another choice of airlines to get around Malaysia as the new low-cost carrier MYAirline Sdn Bhd has been allowed to sell air tickets and undertake commercial air passenger flights!

The company recently secured its full air service license (ASL) from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) for a year starting 15 Nov 2022 to 14 Nov 2023. Last month, they had also received its air operators certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
MYAirline chief executive officer Rayner Teo had said that they are pleased to receive their ASL from MAVCOM a little over a month after CAAM awarded them an AOC. He also says that the airlines shows that they are equipped to operate commercial flights with professional capabilities to establish and maintain a reliable system for aircraft operations.

MYAirline will be covering key domestic routes around Malaysia and their maiden will happen during the fourth quarter of 2022. As of now, they have a workforce of 370 people as well as a fleet of Airbus A320-200&rsquo;s. To make accessibility easy, they will be based at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA 2).
As of now, MYAirline is still <a href="https://www.myairline.my/career.html">hiring</a> and aims to increase their staff numbers to 500 by the end of 2022. For now, the fleet consist of 4 planes but there&rsquo;s aims of increasing the total to 50 planes in the next five years.

Rayner himself was formally the head for sales and distribution in AirAsia from 2004 to 2019 and later had a short tenure of six months with Thai VietJet Air as a commercial advisor in 2020. Former AirAsia China president Kathleen Tan is part of the management alongside chief operating officer Stuart Cross.
Similarities To Mark Rivalry

Knowing that the management and staff were mostly people formally in AirAsia, doesn&rsquo;t it hit you that the airlines look pretty similar? From the striking red colours of the plane and the uniform as well as the plane model being used.
Teo noted that the new budget airline can differentiate themselves as they want to focus on customer experiences and seat offerings. Initially when they were choosing the colours of the airline, he told his team to avoid using the colours red, blue, purple and orange but due to them not being able to find any interesting colours to make them look at it more than once, they ended up choosing the colour red which also plays a significance in Chinese culture.
Aside from that, Teo also related to the colours of how English Premier League football clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool use the colour red. On an end note, MYAirline says that they are determine to prove itself to be the &ldquo;better red&rdquo;.

What was meant to be a joyous getaway turned into a harrowing experience when several individuals fell violently ill after indulging in a lok lok feast at Genting Sempah, Pahang. The aftermath saw multiple guests suffering from severe food poisoning, with some requiring hospitalisation, leaving the group frustrated and deeply concerned.

She and a group of 36 friends had rented villas for a three-day, two-night retreat near the Pahang-Selangor border. During their stay, they noticed a well-known lok lok (skewered food) truck serving guests at a neighbouring villa. Intrigued by the sight, they decided to book the same service for their celebration the following evening, paying RM2,000 for a meal meant for 40 people.
From Feast to Food Poisoning in Hours

The meal commenced at 6 PM on 1st February, and the group eagerly tucked in, expecting a delightful dining experience. However, just four hours later, disaster struck. More than ten people in the group began suffering from extreme vomiting and diarrhoea&mdash;undeniable signs of food poisoning. As the night progressed, the severity of the symptoms escalated, and by morning, two members had to be rushed to the hospital for intravenous drips, while others sought treatment at nearby clinics.
The repercussions of the incident went beyond health issues. Several group members were forced to take sick leave from work, while children attending international schools had to miss classes. The financial burden from medical expenses, combined with lost productivity, only added to their distress.
A Struggle for Accountability

Determined to seek justice, Joey contacted the food truck company, requesting a full refund of RM2,000 and additional reimbursement of RM3,375 for medical expenses incurred by the group. However, her efforts were met with denial and deflection. The company refused to take responsibility, instead shifting the blame onto the driver, claiming that he had accepted the booking independently without official company authorisation.
Joey was not convinced by this explanation. She had personally witnessed the driver calling the company to confirm the booking before proceeding. She explained that the group had split into five separate clusters throughout the day, each eating different meals&mdash;with some even skipping lunch entirely&mdash;yet every single person who ate the lok lok that evening fell ill.

She did not hold back in criticising the company&rsquo;s handling of the situation, calling their response &ldquo;irresponsible&rdquo; and highlighting the gravity of food poisoning incidents.
&ldquo;Food poisoning is not something to take lightly. I am sharing this publicly to put pressure on the business because of their irresponsibility and lack of concern for hygiene. I can accept the financial loss, but what I want is empathy,&rdquo; she wrote.
