Are you a fan of horror films? For many out there, having to watch a horror movie at the cinemas is one of the best thrills you can get as you&rsquo;ll get to experience the eerie soundtracks and audio designs of horror films and how they match the cinematics that brings the film characters to life.
If you&rsquo;re looking to get spooked or perhaps spook your friends, the latest chapter of Insidious: The Red Door will be premiering in cinemas on 5th July next week!

Fans have been eagerly waiting for the fifth instalment of the series since the last movie, Insidious: The Last Key was released back in 2018. After 5 long years, one would think that the director Patrick Wilson would be switching things up but fans are going to be delighted as the latest movie will be seeing the return of the original Insidious cast members.
During an interview, producer Jason Blum revealed that Wilson had managed to convince the original cast to get back together for the sequel. He praises Wilson as Blum had previously attempted the same thing for the 3rd and 4th movies but had terribly failed.

During Insidious: Chapter 3 and Insidious: The Last Key, we did see the return of cast members such as the likes of Leight Whannell who plays Specs as well as Lin Shaye.
Where Does Insidious: The Red Door Take Place?
The latest movie is set to be 10 years after the events of Insidious 2 where we see Josh Lambert (Wilson) and his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) return to The Further as they want to put an end to the hauntings they&rsquo;ve been experiencing. For those who&rsquo;ve missed the first two movies, here&rsquo;s a short summary:

A little background to the movie, The Lambert family was first introduced in the original 2011 movie as they moved into a home with their 3 children. Dalton at the time saw an entity in the attic and later falls into a coma. The family was left devastated as Dalton could not recover but it was later revealed that he was stuck in an astral realm called &ldquo;The Further&rdquo;.
During Chapter 2, the movie delves into Josh Lambert's childhood in 1986, where his mother and Elise Rainier make a startling discovery &ndash; his ability to astral project. In the present timeline, Josh becomes a suspect in Elise's murder while being controlled by an entity from The Further. The Lambert family manages to overcome the entity's possession of Josh, but the movie concludes with a suspenseful ending. Paranormal investigators who previously assisted the Lamberts arrive to aid a new family, and in the final scene, Elise's spirit finds herself in a room with a young girl in a coma. As Elise hears an eerie creaking sound behind her, she turns to confront an unseen presence, leaving the audience in anticipation.

Now, we&rsquo;ll finally get to see how the Lambert family address what Elise saw in the room which could reveal the identity of the entity from The Future which is likely expected to be the antagonist role in the latest movie.
Insidious: The Red Door Is Wilson&rsquo;s Directorial Debut

Normally to continue the legacy of a film, the studio would hire the same director but this time around, this is Wilson&rsquo;s debut film and he&rsquo;s pretty much started it off with a bang by reuniting the original cast of the movie.
Blum shared that Wilson managed to tell a story by using the original cast with the elements of time passing, hence why it makes sense for the timeline of the film to take place after 10 years after the events of Insidious 2.

Don&rsquo;t worry, the movie won&rsquo;t (well, it shouldn&rsquo;t) flop and don&rsquo;t let critiques say otherwise as Wilson has a history of filming in the Insidious franchise since he was in the original and 2nd movie.
Now looks like we are all in for a proper thrill. Perhaps it's time to prank your friends and bring them along for the fun. But then again, we kinda wish we had this kind of prank right here in Malaysia which certainly spooked the people on the streets of Los Angeles.

Malaysia is reeling from one of the most devastating road tragedies in recent memory following a fatal collision involving a bus carrying university students and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in the early hours of Monday, 9 June 2025. The accident occurred near Tasik Banding along the East-West Highway (Jalan Raya Timur-Barat) in Banun, Gerik, Perak, claiming 15 lives and injuring dozens more.
The victims were students of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), returning to campus after celebrating the Hari Raya Aidiladha holidays. What was supposed to be a routine journey back to continue their academic pursuits turned into a national tragedy, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting an outpouring of grief across the country.

According to reports from the Civil Defence Force&rsquo;s Hulu Perak operations control centre (PKOD APM), the emergency call from Hospital Gerik was received at approximately 1.10am, shortly after the accident occurred. The bus, which had been chartered privately by the students, was en route from Jerteh, Terengganu, to the UPSI main campus in Tanjong Malim, Perak. It was carrying 48 passengers, primarily students who had gathered in Jerteh following the festive break.
The collision also involved a Perodua Alza MPV, believed to be travelling in the same direction. Both vehicles were headed west when, for reasons still under investigation, the bus overturned and the Alza skidded off the road into a nearby ditch.
Casualties and Injuries: A Sobering Toll

Out of the 48 individuals involved, 13 were pronounced dead at the scene, while two more succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The severity of the crash has left many others in serious condition. Initial assessments revealed seven people in the red zone (critical condition), 20 in the yellow zone (semi-critical), and 16 in the green zone (minor injuries) at Gerik Hospital.
Two injured female students were among the first to be brought in for emergency care, one reportedly suffering a fractured arm and the other sustaining head injuries. Medical teams acted quickly to stabilise the injured, many of whom were trapped or ejected from the bus during the accident.
Emergency Rescue Efforts Amid Wreckage

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Director Sayani Saidon confirmed that the rescue operations were complex and urgent. Upon arrival, responders found the bus overturned and severely damaged. The operation commander led a technical &ldquo;size-up&rdquo; of the situation before implementing the &lsquo;saver&rsquo; concept&mdash;a strategy that prioritises creating access to victims in confined spaces.
Hydraulic cutting tools were deployed to open the rear section of the bus and allow responders to reach trapped individuals. Six victims were found still inside the wreckage and were carefully extracted before being handed over to Ministry of Health (KKM) medical teams. Others had managed to crawl out or were thrown from the vehicle during the impact. All deceased were later handed over to the police for further action.
Multiple agencies worked together to transport the injured and deceased using Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS), KKM ambulances, and units from the Civil Defence Force. The professionalism and urgency of the rescue teams prevented what could have been an even greater loss of life.
Students Had Privately Chartered the Bus
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Professor Dr Norkhalid Salimin, UPSI&rsquo;s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni, confirmed that the students had arranged for a private charter bus to return to campus after the holiday period. He noted that they had travelled together from Jerteh, having reunited with their families during the Aidiladha celebrations.
&ldquo;The students had taken the initiative to organise their own transport back to campus. It was meant to be a straightforward return from the festive break,&rdquo; he said.
The university has since mobilised its staff to assist the families of victims, while also coordinating with authorities to obtain accurate information and provide necessary support, including counselling and logistical assistance.
UPSI and the Nation in Mourning

The financial strain is further exacerbated by falling global oil prices. The company&rsquo;s internal budget was based on Brent crude prices ranging between USD 75 and USD 80 per barrel, but the benchmark has hovered closer to USD 65 this year&mdash;marking a 13% decline. Difficulties Meeting Dividend Targets and Revenue Pressures
Tengku Taufik acknowledged that PETRONAS is under increasing pressure to meet its dividend obligations to the government. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re not exiting Canada. It&rsquo;s a resource-rich geography that remains strategically important for our ambitions in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector,&rdquo; he said. While PETRONAS continues to entertain commercial proposals, he emphasised that this is part of the company&rsquo;s regular business review and not indicative of any planned withdrawal.

On 21 May 2025, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg signed a joint declaration affirming that PETRONAS will continue to carry out its functions under the Petroleum Development Act 1974 (PDA 1974) and related regulations. This declaration also recognised the Sarawak government&rsquo;s appointment of Petros as the state&rsquo;s official gas aggregator, effective 1 March 2025.
Tengku Taufik noted that PETRONAS remains open to continued negotiations to strengthen cooperation with Sarawak and to ensure energy needs are met across the region.

PETRONAS To Slash 10% Of Workforce Amid Restructuring And Profit Slump

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has suffered a legal setback after the High Court in Kuala Lumpur dismissed his bid to seek constitutional immunity from a civil lawsuit filed by his former research assistant. The lawsuit, which accuses Anwar of sexual assault in 2018, is now set to proceed to trial on 16 June.

High Court Judge Roz Mawar Rozain ruled on 4 June that Anwar&rsquo;s application to refer eight constitutional questions to the Federal Court lacked merit. She said the questions failed to meet the required legal threshold under Section 84 of the Courts of Judicature Act 1964, stating they did not involve "genuine constitutional controversy" and were neither necessary nor relevant to the current proceedings.
&ldquo;There is no express constitutional or statutory immunity accorded to a sitting prime minister for private acts committed before assuming office,&rdquo; she said. She also emphasised that constitutional guarantees of equal protection under the law mean equal treatment, not exemption.
The court ordered Anwar to pay RM20,000 in costs to the plaintiff, Muhammad Yusoff Rawther. Anwar&rsquo;s legal team has since indicated plans to appeal the decision and request a stay of the upcoming trial.
The Lawsuit and Allegations

&ldquo;This matter concerns the integrity of our constitutional system and the need to ensure that high public office is protected from litigation that may be strategically timed, politically motivated, or institutionally disruptive,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;I remain committed to the rule of law and will continue to discharge my responsibilities without distraction or compromise.&rdquo;

Other anxieties include fears of getting lost, being unable to communicate during a traffic stop or accident, and unexpected road hazards.
