Li Xia, 36, from Chongqing in south-western China, has defied extraordinary odds to build a successful smart farming start-up — despite being paralysed, dependent on a ventilator, and able to move only one finger and one toe.

Li was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at just five years old, a degenerative condition that causes muscles to weaken over time. As his illness progressed, he was forced to leave school in the fifth grade. However, while formal education came to an abrupt end, his desire to learn never faded.

Confined largely to his bed, studying became Li’s main connection to the outside world and his greatest source of purpose.

Self-Taught Passion for Science and Technology

Li developed a deep interest in physics and computer science, sparked by textbooks brought home by his younger sister. He recalls being captivated by every concept, reading the books repeatedly and eagerly awaiting each new school year to see what new materials she would bring home.

At the age of 25, he began teaching himself programming through online forums and digital resources. Without formal training, Li spent years patiently studying coding, systems theory, and emerging technologies — building knowledge that would later become life-changing.

Health Crisis and a Turning Point

As Li grew older, his condition worsened dramatically. He first lost the ability to walk, then the ability to care for himself. Eventually, even basic functions such as eating and breathing became difficult. In recent years, he has been able to move only one finger and one toe.

In 2020, Li fell into a coma. Doctors performed a tracheotomy and warned his family that his chances of survival were slim. The period marked one of the darkest moments of his life — but it also became a turning point.

In early 2021, while recovering, Li came across information about soilless farming techniques. The concept sparked a bold idea: combining Internet of Things (IoT) technology with modern agriculture.

Building a Smart Farm — One Keystroke at a Time

Relying on a ventilator and using a virtual keyboard operated by just one finger and one toe, Li began developing a complete smart control system for farming. The system integrates sensors, automated irrigation, climate monitoring, and hardware controls for soilless cultivation.

Despite his physical limitations, Li designed and programmed the entire system himself, effectively becoming the “brain” behind the operation. His technology allows crops to be monitored and managed remotely with precision.

Today, the farm produces crops such as cherry tomatoes, lettuce, and herbs — and has begun turning a steady profit.

A Mother’s Devotion Behind the Technology

Li’s success would not have been possible without his mother, Wu Dimei. After Li’s parents divorced in 2017, she became his full-time caregiver — and later, his closest collaborator.

Following her son’s detailed instructions, Wu carried out all hands-on tasks. Starting with no technical knowledge whatsoever, she gradually learned to solder control boards, install network wiring, connect circuits, and maintain farming equipment.

Under Li’s guidance, she even assembled a remote-controlled, driverless vehicle used to collect farm deliveries.

“My mum can do everything now,” Li said. “Even though she doesn’t fully understand the theory, she knows exactly how to connect the wires and install everything correctly.”

Together, Li’s intellect and his mother’s determination transformed their lives into a high-tech success story.

Inspiring Millions Across China

Li’s journey has been widely shared by Chinese media and state broadcaster CCTV, touching millions online. Netizens described his story as a “miracle” and proof that human potential is not defined by physical limitations.

Many also praised Wu Dimei’s devotion, with comments highlighting the powerful bond between mother and son and the sacrifices behind their success.

For Li, the technology represents more than profit — it symbolises independence, dignity, and a way to overcome the constraints imposed by his illness.

Looking Towards the Future

Now that the farm is operating smoothly, Li plans to further diversify his agricultural offerings and experiment with new cultivation technologies. His ambition is to continue improving efficiency while expanding the range of crops produced.

Despite remaining reliant on a ventilator, Li Xia’s determination has redefined what is possible. His story stands as a powerful reminder that knowledge, perseverance, and support can turn even the most severe limitations into new beginnings — proving, as many online have said, that life truly holds limitless possibilities.

Anthropic has introduced new restrictions to stop its Claude AI assistant from recreating specific existing video games, drawing a clearer boundary between helping users develop original projects and generating copies of copyrighted titles. The change comes as AI-powered game cloning and reverse-engineering gain attention.

The update is intended to discourage users from using Claude to reproduce another developer’s game, even if the project is given a different name or presented as an original creation. Some developers say the restrictions affect legitimate work.

Anthropic Adds New Rules to Claude Code

X user Chasm first highlighted the instruction around 27 October. The rule states that Claude should help build original games, games within an established genre, and projects based on a user’s own designs and assets. It should not recreate a specific existing game, even if the user renames it or describes it as original.

Anthropic technical staff member Addy Osmani subsequently confirmed that the company had added two sentences to Claude Code’s prompt for Opus 5.5. He said the purpose was to steer the model away from recreating another party’s specific game because using Claude to infringe intellectual property (IP) would breach the company’s usage policy.

Osmani stressed that the change was not intended to prevent users from making original games or developing projects inspired by a genre. He said Anthropic would keep refining the restrictions and invited developers to report incorrect refusals.

Why AI Game Cloning Is Becoming a Concern

The update comes amid a growing number of AI-assisted game recreations, ports and decompilation projects. AI coding tools have made it easier to examine existing games and create versions for other platforms.

Examples include browser-based projects inspired by Halo, Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto, as well as mods that place characters from one franchise into another game's world.

The development has raised particular concerns for independent studios. Smaller teams may struggle to respond if someone uses an early demo to create a competing version before the original is released. Some developers have also reportedly been threatened with having unfinished games cloned and released as complete products.

One example is Digital Sun Games, which cancelled a planned public playtest for its upcoming game ReVamp amid concerns that making a demo publicly available could expose it to copying.

Valve has also acknowledged concerns about low-quality AI-generated games and clones appearing on Steam. It has encouraged developers to distinguish their games through original features and creative direction, rather than announcing a blanket ban on AI tools.

Developers Say the Restrictions May Be Too Broad

Although aimed at preventing direct copies, the rule is reportedly affecting legitimate development tasks. Developers say Claude has declined requests involving their own games, including work on mechanics, debugging, anti-cheat systems and security reviews.

There have also been complaints about refusals involving reverse-engineering tools and basic troubleshooting, such as analysing Windows crash dumps. Anthropic has not detailed how Claude determines whether a user owns the game or assets involved.

A model may struggle to distinguish an attempt to reproduce a copyrighted title from a developer examining their own code, fixing a bug or building a familiar mechanic for an original game. This creates a challenge for AI safeguards: restrictions designed to prevent misuse could also disrupt ordinary development work.

Where Is the Line Between Inspiration and Copyright Infringement?

The debate reflects longstanding challenges in video game copyright. Copyright generally protects a game's original creative expression, including artwork, music, characters and presentation, rather than broad ideas, genres or gameplay mechanics.

Developers can therefore work within familiar genres without necessarily copying another title. The distinction becomes less clear when a project reproduces a specific game's recognisable creative elements.

The boundary can be complicated, particularly when a game combines functional mechanics with distinctive creative elements. Using AI to generate a copy does not automatically remove the potential copyright concerns.

Will Anthropic’s Restrictions Stop Game Clones?

The instruction may deter casual users, but is unlikely to eliminate AI-assisted cloning. Users determined to recreate existing titles could turn to other AI models, including open-weight or locally run systems that may not apply the same restrictions.

A prompt-level safeguard may also fail to identify every attempt to disguise a copy as an original project. At the same time, overly broad restrictions risk disrupting legitimate developers who rely on AI tools for coding, testing and troubleshooting.

Anthropic’s move highlights the challenge facing AI companies as their tools become more capable: they must balance creative assistance with the rights of developers whose work may be reproduced. For the gaming industry, the effectiveness of the new rule will depend not only on how well it blocks direct clones, but also on whether Anthropic can refine it without preventing users from building and improving games of their own.

Tony Lim, the entrepreneur behind Malaysian food and beverage brands BananaBro and Boat Noodle, has passed away, prompting tributes from the businesses he founded and members of the local automotive community. His death was announced through messages shared by both restaurant chains on social media on 2 November, with colleagues remembering him for his vision, determination and commitment to the people who helped build his businesses.

Lim made his mark on Malaysia’s dining scene by bringing distinct regional food concepts into accessible, modern restaurant settings. He founded Boat Noodle in 2014, introducing a Thai street-food-inspired concept built around small bowls of noodles, allowing diners to sample different flavours in one meal. In 2018, he established BananaBro, which brought South Indian-style banana leaf rice into a contemporary, fast-casual setting. The brand’s menu centres on banana leaf meals and familiar accompaniments, helping introduce the dining experience to a wider audience.

Founder of BananaBro and Boat Noodle Dies

The news of Lim’s passing was shared by BananaBro and Boat Noodle on 2 November. Reports identified him as 47, although the brands did not disclose a cause of death.

In its tribute, BananaBro described Lim as the driving force behind its ambition to bring Malaysia’s banana leaf dining culture to a wider audience. The company said his passion, generosity and belief in the idea helped bring the brand to life, while highlighting the care he showed towards the people and journey behind the business.

The statement added that his vision would continue through every banana leaf meal served and the lives he had touched. It thanked him for his inspiration and generosity, saying his legacy would remain part of the brand.

Boat Noodle also paid tribute to its founder, remembering him as a dreamer, fighter and mentor who believed in the potential of his team. The company said Lim built the business with passion and determination, encouraging employees to keep improving, even if progress came one per cent at a time.

It also highlighted the principle “Together We Grow”, describing it as more than a slogan to Lim. The brand said the phrase reflected how he approached leadership and teamwork, and thanked him for the lessons and belief he had shared with those around him. It pledged to continue growing and improving in a way that would honour his legacy.

From Logistics to Malaysia’s Food and Beverage Industry

Before establishing his restaurant brands, Lim had a background in the family logistics business. His LinkedIn profile listed him as joining E.H. Utara Holdings in 2005, where he served as chief executive director. The company, which has regional operations, provides logistics services including transportation, warehousing and distribution.

Lim later moved into the food and beverage sector, first launching Boat Noodle in 2014 before introducing BananaBro four years later. The two concepts offered different dining experiences: Boat Noodle drew inspiration from Thai street food, while BananaBro focused on making banana leaf rice more accessible in modern retail locations.

BananaBro’s growth was also linked to its approach to serving traditional South Indian food in a contemporary environment. The brand adapted banana leaf dining for shopping malls and a broader customer base while retaining familiar elements of the traditional meal.

Beyond his businesses, Lim was also remembered for his involvement in the local automotive community. Art of Speed Malaysia, an automotive and art event organiser, shared a tribute on 1 November, expressing sadness over his passing and thanking him for being part of the event and the memories shared with the community.

A Legacy Remembered by His Teams and Community

The tributes from both restaurant brands placed particular emphasis on Lim’s leadership and the relationships he built with employees. Rather than remembering him solely as an entrepreneur, the companies described a founder who encouraged his teams to believe in themselves, persevere through challenges and develop together.

His passing marks a loss for the teams behind BananaBro and Boat Noodle, as well as the wider Malaysian food and beverage scene in which both brands have established a presence. Boat Noodle has been reported to operate 49 outlets nationwide, while BananaBro has more than 40 branches.

Although Lim is no longer there to lead the businesses he created, the messages from his teams suggest that the principles he championed will remain part of their direction. Both brands have pledged to carry forward the work he began, keeping his influence alive through their people, food and continued growth.

BananaBro & Boat Noodle Founder Tony Lim Passes Away At 47

Getting a table at Rembayung has become a challenge for diners since the restaurant opened, with strong demand and reports of booking slots being snapped up for resale leaving genuine customers struggling to secure a visit. The popular Kuala Lumpur restaurant is now hoping to make reservations fairer and easier through a new booking system developed with Grab, introducing stricter verification and limits to discourage scalpers.

Who Is Khairul Aming and What Is Rembayung?

Rembayung is the first restaurant venture by Malaysian content creator and entrepreneur Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman, better known as Khairul Aming. After building a large following through his cooking videos and popular Ramadan recipe content, he announced the restaurant project in December 2025.

Located in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, the restaurant was developed on an 8,000-square-foot site, with a reported investment of RM4 million. Its semi-glasshouse, warehouse-inspired design combines modern features with a kampung atmosphere, using wooden elements and greenery. It can accommodate up to 250 diners and serves traditional Malay and kampung-style dishes, including masak lemak cili api, sambal udang, asam pedas and ayam rendang, alongside familiar local favourites and traditional kuih.

When its first online reservations opened in January 2026, demand was so high that the booking website became inaccessible within minutes. The overwhelming response highlighted the challenge the restaurant would face in managing reservations while accommodating its growing number of interested customers.

On 2 November 2026, Khairul Aming announced that Rembayung had partnered with Grab to introduce a new reservation process through the app’s Dine Out feature and Book a Table function. The move follows complaints about scalpers allegedly securing multiple slots and reselling them at higher prices, leaving genuine diners unable to book directly.

Under the new rules, each verified Grab user can make only one reservation every two weeks. Bookings cannot be transferred or sold to another person. The customer who made the reservation must attend and bring the same phone used to book, then open the Grab app for verification at the restaurant. Screenshots or images of booking confirmations will not be accepted.

The system offers both dine-in and takeaway options. Customers can search for Rembayung in Grab’s Dine Out section, select Book a Table, enter the number of guests, and choose an available date, time and booking type.

Each reservation requires a RM10 deposit per person, which will be deducted from the final food bill. Babies and children are counted as guests, and a booking can accommodate up to eight people.

Bookings are final, and deposits are non-refundable if customers cancel. Tables are held for only 15 minutes after the booking time, after which late arrivals may have their reservations cancelled. Each dining session lasts around one hour and 45 minutes.

What Happens to Existing Umai Reservations?

Before the Grab partnership, Rembayung used Umai to manage reservations. The platform allowed customers to compete for available slots when bookings opened, but heavy traffic caused access difficulties and long waits.

Khairul Aming said in September that the restaurant was testing a replacement system after scalping complaints. Customers who already booked through Umai do not need to make another reservation, as their existing bookings remain valid.

The Umai website was still displaying a waiting-room page at the time of the Grab announcement, and it was not immediately clear whether the platform would be discontinued entirely.

The Grab system is already open for reservations, although availability may be limited. Rembayung has indicated that around 20,000 customers had secured bookings for November, representing approximately 80 per cent of the restaurant’s capacity for the month. Further slots are expected to be released in stages through Grab.

Can the New System Stop Reservation Scalping?

The new rules are designed to make bulk reservations and reselling more difficult. Limiting verified users to one booking every two weeks restricts repeated reservations, while requiring the original booking phone helps the restaurant check that the person arriving is the account holder. Making bookings non-transferable also removes the option of simply passing a reservation to another diner.

However, Khairul Aming has acknowledged that tackling scalping is not easy. The new system is intended to reduce the problem and improve the booking experience, rather than guarantee that all misuse will disappear.

For diners, the key change is that reservations must now be made and verified through the Grab account and device used at the time of booking. Customers planning a visit should check the available slots and read the terms in the app carefully before paying the deposit.

Kimi Antonelli has made Formula 1 history after becoming the youngest-ever world champion at 20 years and 68 days old, following a third-place finish at the Mexico City Grand Prix on 1 November 2026.

The Mercedes driver secured his maiden drivers’ championship with four races remaining, achieving the milestone in only his second Formula 1 season.

Antonelli finished behind race winner Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in Mexico City, but his podium was enough to confirm his place at the top of the standings. His triumph also ends Italy’s wait for a Formula 1 world champion, with Alberto Ascari the country’s last title winner in 1953.

Who Is Kimi Antonelli? From Karting Prodigy to F1 Champion

Born Andrea Kimi Antonelli on 25 August 2006 in Bologna, Italy, Antonelli developed an interest in motorsport from an early age. His father, Marco Antonelli, was also involved in racing, and he began karting when he was seven.

He quickly made his mark in junior competition, winning the 2015 Trofeo Easykart and Easykart International Grand Final. Further success followed in events including the WSK Champions Cup, ROK Cup International Final and WSK Euro Series.

Mercedes recognised his potential and signed him to its junior driver programme in 2019, when he was 12. He moved into single-seater racing in 2021 and continued to progress through the junior categories.

In 2022, Antonelli won both the Italian Formula 4 and ADAC Formula 4 championships, taking 22 victories across 35 races. The following year, he claimed the Formula Regional Middle East and Formula Regional European titles.

His performances earned him a seat with PREMA Racing in Formula 2 in 2024. He secured notable wins in the Silverstone Sprint Race and Budapest Feature Race, strengthening his case for a place in Formula 1.

Mercedes promoted him to its senior team for the 2025 season, replacing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who had moved to Ferrari. Partnering George Russell, Antonelli used his rookie campaign to gain experience before making a major step forward the following year.

Antonelli Breaks Sebastian Vettel’s Youngest Champion Record

At 20 years and 68 days old, Antonelli has become the youngest world champion in Formula 1 history, surpassing Sebastian Vettel’s previous record.

Vettel was 23 years and 134 days old when he won his first title with Red Bull in 2010. Antonelli has therefore taken the record by more than three years.

His achievement is especially remarkable given that he is only in his second season in the sport. After finishing seventh in the 2025 drivers’ championship, he began the new campaign with a stronger understanding of the car and the demands of Formula 1.

Antonelli quickly established himself as a title contender, taking the championship lead after the Japanese Grand Prix. His early-season form included five victories across the opening six races.

One of his standout performances came at the Italian Grand Prix, where he fought back from 19th on the grid to claim victory at Monza.

By the Mexico City race, Antonelli had recorded nine wins and 16 podium finishes during the 2026 campaign. Despite losing points on two occasions because of mechanical problems, his pace and consistency kept him in control of the championship battle.

A Composed Drive Seals the Championship in Mexico

Antonelli arrived in Mexico knowing that a ninth-place finish or better would be enough to secure the title, regardless of his closest rivals’ results.

Starting fourth, he delivered a controlled performance in a race disrupted by several incidents. A crash involving Valtteri Bottas brought out the red flag, while a later collision involving Arvid Lindblad and Oscar Piastri led to a Safety Car period.

Despite the interruptions, Antonelli remained composed and moved into third position, holding it until the chequered flag.

Verstappen claimed his sixth Mexico City Grand Prix victory, with Hamilton finishing second. However, the biggest celebration was in the Mercedes garage, where Antonelli’s podium confirmed him as the 2026 world champion.

His reaction over the team radio reflected the significance of the moment, as he thanked Mercedes, his family and those who had supported his journey. Fellow competitors also praised his progress and ability to perform under pressure.

Four Races Remain, With More Action Ahead

Although the drivers’ championship has been decided, the 2026 season still has four races to go. The calendar continues with the Sao Paulo Grand Prix from 6 to 8 November, followed by races in Las Vegas and Qatar before the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

With the individual title settled, attention will turn to the remaining race victories, final championship positions and the battle for the constructors’ championship.

Antonelli’s triumph also raises the question of which racing number he will use next season. As the reigning world champion, he is eligible to use number 1 in 2027. The number is currently used by Lando Norris, who won the 2025 title and would ordinarily return to his familiar number 4.

However, Antonelli has indicated that he intends to retain number 12, which has personal significance, rather than take the champion’s number.

Whatever number appears on his car, Antonelli will begin the 2027 campaign as the driver his rivals will be looking to beat. At just 20, he has already achieved what many drivers spend their careers pursuing. His rapid rise from karting prodigy to world champion could be only the start of an even bigger career.

Kimi Antonelli Makes Formula 1 History As Youngest-Ever World Champion At 20

Malaysia Airlines has warned that some customer information may have been affected by a cybersecurity incident involving Amadeus, the global travel technology provider that supports its airline reservation systems.

In a customer advisory published on 31 October, the national carrier said information processed through Amadeus between August 2023 and September 2026 may have been affected. The airline is working with the technology provider and relevant parties to investigate the incident and establish the extent of any exposure.

Malaysia Airlines has not disclosed how many customers may be affected or specified which categories of personal information were potentially accessed. It said there was currently no evidence that customers’ financial information had been accessed.

MAS untouched by data breach

Malaysia Airlines stressed that its own information technology systems had not been compromised in the incident. Instead, the potential exposure relates to information processed through Amadeus, a third-party provider used by airlines and travel agencies around the world for reservation and distribution services.

The distinction is important: the airline has not reported a direct breach of its internal network or flight operations. However, customer information held or processed within an external supplier’s environment may still be at risk, even when an airline’s own systems remain secure.

Amadeus previously disclosed that it had identified unauthorised access to its passenger reservation systems, involving a vulnerability in a travel booking display environment. The company has not publicly stated how many passengers were affected or provided a full account of how the unauthorised access occurred.

Malaysia Airlines said it was treating the matter seriously and would provide further updates as its investigation progressed.

Other international airlines report affected bookings

Malaysia Airlines is among several carriers that have reported potential exposure linked to the same Amadeus incident, with airlines in Asia among those to disclose affected passenger records.

Cathay Pacific said on 30 October that around 53,000 bookings had been affected by unauthorised access to passenger reservation data held by Amadeus. The Hong Kong-based airline said the records mainly involved booking references, passenger names and flight details. A smaller number may also have contained email addresses, telephone numbers, travel document information and frequent flyer numbers.

Japan Airlines and Japan Transocean Air reported that approximately 92,000 customers were affected. The airlines said most of the records involved reservation codes, names, flight dates, routes and travel classes, while a smaller group of around 2,000 customers had additional information accessed, including contact details, passport numbers and frequent flyer numbers.

All Nippon Airways also reported that information relating to approximately 37,800 customers had been accessed. South Korea’s Asiana Airlines and Korean Air have likewise reported unauthorised access to customer reservation information through Amadeus.

The figures relate to different airlines and different types of records, so they should not be treated as a single confirmed total of affected passengers. Malaysia Airlines has yet to provide its own figure.

Customers warned about targeted phishing scams

Although there is currently no evidence that financial information was accessed, exposed travel details could still be misused by scammers.

Information such as a passenger’s name, booking reference, destination or travel dates could help criminals create convincing messages that appear to come from an airline. These may take the form of fake flight updates, refund notifications, booking changes or requests to verify account details.

Malaysia Airlines has therefore urged customers to be cautious about suspicious or unsolicited communications, particularly messages or calls asking for personal or financial information. Travellers should avoid clicking unfamiliar links, sharing passwords or providing payment details in response to unexpected requests.

If a message claims to relate to a booking, customers should verify it through Malaysia Airlines’ official website or customer service channels rather than relying on contact details or links supplied in the message.

Amadeus strengthens security measures as investigation continues

Amadeus has reportedly taken steps to contain the incident, including resetting passwords and introducing enhanced monitoring and detection measures. Cathay Pacific said the provider had informed it that these actions had been implemented, while also stating that there was no evidence the affected data had been misused at the time of its update.

The full circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Questions remain over the vulnerability, the scope of unauthorised access and the specific information that may have been viewed.

For Malaysia Airlines customers, the key point is that the airline’s own systems have not been compromised, but some information handled by its technology provider may have been affected. Until the investigation establishes the full impact, passengers who travelled or made bookings during the period identified by the airline should remain alert to unusual messages and verify requests through official channels.

Malaysia Airlines Customers May Be Affected By Amadeus Data Breach

A temporary worker at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has been arrested following an investigation into the suspected unauthorised sale of VIP passes during the 2026 Petronas Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

SIC confirmed that the individual was arrested by police on the night of 31 October 2026, following an internal investigation conducted in cooperation with the relevant authorities.

The incident came to light after reports circulated online alleging that individuals were offering exclusive access passes to MotoGP spectators for a fee. The claims raised questions about the legitimacy of the passes and whether buyers had been misled into paying for access they were not entitled to receive.

Although the 2026 race weekend has concluded, the case has drawn attention to the risks surrounding unofficial ticket and event-pass sales, particularly when premium hospitality areas are involved.

Unauthorised passes offered to MotoGP spectators

According to reports circulating on social media, the passes were allegedly advertised as Perdana Suite VIP or premium hospitality access, with prices ranging from RM230 to RM250.

Some individuals claimed to have purchased the passes, with one social media user reportedly saying they had paid RM230.

Reports suggested that the passes being offered were staff credentials intended for operational purposes rather than public admission.

SIC subsequently clarified that the passes in question were never authorised for public distribution or sale. The circuit stressed that event passes are reserved for authorised personnel and are not intended to be sold to spectators or members of the public.

A pass that appears genuine does not necessarily provide valid admission. Even an authentic credential may be restricted to a particular person, role or operational purpose.

In its statement, SIC confirmed that the arrested individual was a temporary worker engaged specifically for the 2026 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

The circuit said it had taken the matter seriously and initiated an internal investigation before working with the authorities to identify those involved. Police subsequently arrested the worker on the night of 31 October.

SIC also addressed speculation circulating online that had incorrectly identified another individual, known as Aqil, as the person responsible for the alleged scam.

The circuit clarified that Aqil was not the suspect and reiterated that the individual arrested was a temporary staff member. The clarification followed online discussion in which an unrelated person had been named, highlighting how quickly unverified claims can spread during a developing incident.

SIC further stated that it would pursue the necessary legal action in relation to the incident.

Large sporting events rely on different categories of passes to manage access for staff, contractors, media representatives, sponsors and other authorised personnel. These credentials help organisers maintain security and ensure restricted areas are accessed only by people with the appropriate clearance.

Fans warned against unofficial event-pass sellers

SIC has reminded the public to exercise caution when dealing with individuals offering event tickets, VIP passes or exclusive access through unofficial channels.

While the 2026 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix has concluded, the incident highlights the risks spectators may face when purchasing event-related access from unverified sellers. Similar offers can emerge around concerts, festivals and other major sporting events, where demand for premium experiences may encourage scammers to target people looking for cheaper or last-minute access.

Members of the public should verify ticket and pass offers directly through official event organisers or authorised sales platforms before making payment. Offers advertised through social media, private messages or third-party sellers should be approached carefully, particularly when they promise access to restricted hospitality areas or appear significantly cheaper than legitimate options.

Buyers should be wary of sellers who pressure them to pay quickly or cannot explain how they obtained the passes. A screenshot or photograph should not be treated as proof that a credential is valid or transferable.

SIC has reiterated that only tickets and passes issued through its authorised channels are recognised. The public is encouraged to contact event organisers when uncertain about an offer, rather than relying solely on assurances from an individual seller.

Ultimately, the incident serves as a wider warning for future events: an attractive deal could come with financial and security risks. Taking time to verify a seller and confirm the terms of entry before paying can help prevent similar scams from affecting other spectators.
