Malaysian entrepreneur and content creator Khairul Aming has officially introduced Sambal Nyet Bilis, the fourth product under his RASAPOP brand and his first new sambal in six years. Set to launch this Friday, the highly anticipated product promises a bolder flavour profile while continuing the entrepreneur's commitment to supporting local farmers, fishermen and manufacturers.
The launch comes despite recent issues surrounding the leak of his personal information, with Khairul choosing to remain focused on expanding his business and introducing what he describes as his biggest product release to date.

Since launching the original Sambal Nyet Berapi in 2021, Khairul Aming has built one of Malaysia's most successful local food brands. The range later expanded with Dendeng Nyet Berapi and Rendang Nyet Berapi, but fans have been waiting six years for an entirely new sambal.
Now, that wait is over.
According to Khairul, Sambal Nyet Bilis offers a completely different flavour from its predecessor, featuring a richer recipe with more ingredients and a spicier, more aromatic taste.
Unlike the original Sambal Nyet Berapi, which relies heavily on red chillies, the new recipe uses 75% green chillies and 25% red chillies, creating a gentler yet more fragrant heat while maintaining its signature kick.
Fresh anchovies are the star ingredient, complemented by tomatoes, kaffir lime leaves and belacan to produce a sambal inspired by traditional Malaysian flavours.
Personally Sourcing Ingredients Across Malaysia

One of the highlights of the launch was Khairul Aming documenting his journey across Malaysia to source the best local ingredients personally.
Rather than simply purchasing raw materials, he travelled to Setiu, Terengganu, where he joined local fishermen out at sea to witness first-hand the demanding process of catching fresh anchovies. He explained that the experience gave him a greater appreciation for the hard work involved in producing what many Malaysians often consider an everyday ingredient.
He also visited chilli farms in Banting, Selangor, learning directly from local farmers about cultivating high-quality chillies before selecting those best suited for the new sambal recipe.
The approach reflects Khairul's continued emphasis on working closely with Malaysian suppliers while highlighting the people behind the country's food industry.
100% Malaysian From Farm To Factory

Khairul also revealed that every stage of production remains entirely local.
After sourcing ingredients from around the country, Sambal Nyet Bilis is produced at RASAPOP's manufacturing facilities in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, where all processes&mdash;including quality control, cooking, bottling, packaging and distribution&mdash;take place under one roof.
The company now operates three factories capable of producing more than 12,000 bottles daily, while providing employment for around 100 local workers.
Describing the product, Khairul said it is:
"Inspired by local flavours, made using local ingredients, produced by local people for the world to enjoy."
Biggest Product Launch Yet

Fujifilm has introduced the Instax Pal 2, a redesigned compact digital camera that brings a more traditional film-camera experience to its popular Instax ecosystem.
Unlike conventional Instax cameras, the Instax Pal 2 does not print photos directly. Instead, it captures digital images that can be transferred to a smartphone, stored on a memory card or sent to compatible Instax printers and hybrid cameras for physical prints.
For Malaysian consumers, the new camera is now starting to appear at local retailers, with Shashinki listing the Fujifilm Instax Pal 2 at RM899. This makes it considerably more expensive than the original Instax Pal, which launched in Malaysia at RM499.
The higher price comes with a significant redesign and upgraded features, including a 10-megapixel sensor, optical viewfinder, top-mounted display, physical controls and USB-C connectivity.
A Completely Redesigned Instax Pal

First introduced in 2023, the original Instax Pal took a different approach to instant photography by separating the camera from the printer. Without the need to accommodate film and printing hardware, Fujifilm was able to make the camera extremely compact.
The Instax Pal 2 retains this concept but completely changes the camera itself.
Measuring 37 x 42 x 92mm, the new model adopts a horizontal, miniature film-camera-inspired design. Its rounded predecessor has been replaced by a more conventional body with a semi-matte finish, optical viewfinder, top-mounted colour display, control dial and mechanical lever.
10MP Sensor And Creative Features

Users can frame shots through the optical viewfinder, review images on the top-mounted display and use the control dial to switch between filters and effects.
The camera supports several shooting formats, including Instax Mini, Instax Square and Instax Wide, as well as a frameless 4:3 option.
30 Filters And Flipbook-Style Animations

The Instax Pal 2 comes with 30 creative effects across five themes: Modern, Y2K, Vintage, Chromatic and Fantasy.

The camera also introduces Instax Animation mode, which captures up to 10 consecutive frames and combines them into a short, flipbook-style animation.
Through the app, users can further edit their photographs with filters, text and stickers before sharing them on social media.
Transfer Photos Directly To Your Phone

Fujifilm says wired transfers can move individual images in around 0.7 seconds while retaining the full resolution of up to 3776 x 2832 pixels.
The camera has built-in storage for around 100 photos, double the original Pal's capacity. A microSD card can also be used for additional storage.
The Instax Pal 2 Does Not Print By Itself

Despite its Instax branding, the Instax Pal 2 does not have a built-in printer. Users can keep their photographs digitally or send them to compatible Fujifilm devices for physical prints.
The camera works with Instax Link smartphone printers and compatible hybrid cameras such as the Instax Mini Evo, Instax Wide Evo and Instax Mini LiPlay.

A trip to Kunming, China, turned into an emotional journey into the past for Malaysian traveller Zhang Huiqing when she unexpectedly discovered photographs of her late grandfather displayed on a public historical wall.
While walking along Xinwen South Road in Yunnan province in mid-September, Zhang noticed a familiar face among the photographs displayed on the Nanyang Volunteers History and Culture Wall. It was her grandfather, Kuang Jinyuan, a Malaysian-born mechanic who had travelled to China during World War II to support the country&rsquo;s resistance against Japanese forces.

The unexpected discovery left Zhang stunned, particularly because her grandfather had never spoken to the family about his wartime experiences.

By 1939, Japan had taken control of China&rsquo;s major coastal ports, making the transport of supplies into the country increasingly difficult. A newly constructed road linking Yunnan in southwestern China with Myanmar became a crucial supply route. With China in need of experienced drivers and mechanics, the Overseas Chinese Relief Fund called for skilled young volunteers to assist with maintaining the transport network.
Kuang answered the call and travelled to China without telling his mother. According to his wartime diaries, his responsibilities included repairing trucks, recovering vehicles that had fallen from cliffs and collecting military supplies scattered along the route.
His work placed him in dangerous conditions as the transport route became a vital lifeline for China's war effort.
He Survived An 18-Hour Siege

Kuang&rsquo;s wartime experience became even more perilous in 1942 when he was caught in an 18-hour siege by Japanese soldiers.
He eventually managed to escape the encirclement and embarked on a 24-day journey to reach Baoshan in Yunnan. Two of his comrades did not survive the journey.
Despite the dangers he faced, Kuang eventually returned to Malaysia in 1946 after the end of the war. He later died in 1993 at the age of 76.
However, he never told his family about what he had experienced during the war.
Family Discovered His Secret Decades Later

For decades, Kuang&rsquo;s wartime service remained largely unknown to his family.
It was only around 10 years ago that his relatives began uncovering his hidden history when volunteers from the Overseas Chinese Relief Fund visited the family home to collect historical materials.
Inside a trunk containing Kuang&rsquo;s belongings, they found photographs, diaries and work certificates documenting his time in China. The discovery gave the family a glimpse into a chapter of Kuang&rsquo;s life that he had kept largely to himself.
His story was later preserved on the Nanyang Volunteers History and Culture Wall in Kunming, alongside other overseas Chinese workers who contributed to China&rsquo;s wartime efforts. For Zhang, however, seeing his photograph displayed in public was something she could never have anticipated.
&ldquo;I never expected to encounter my grandfather in this way. I am proud of him. I will cherish this moment forever,&rdquo; she said in her video.
Viral Discovery Sparks Emotional Response In China
Zhang&rsquo;s unexpected discovery resonated with social media users across China, with many expressing gratitude towards her grandfather and the other overseas Chinese volunteers who supported China during World War II.
Comments included messages thanking the volunteers for their sacrifices, with one user telling Zhang that China was her grandfather&rsquo;s home and welcoming him back. The response also highlighted the enduring historical connections between China and overseas Chinese communities across Southeast Asia.

Zhang has since said she plans to visit the ancestral village to learn more about her family&rsquo;s roots.
For her, what began as an ordinary walk through Kunming became an unexpected encounter with a grandfather whose wartime story had remained hidden for generations.

Universiti Malaya (UM) has made history by becoming the first Malaysian university to break into the global top 200 of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, placing joint 194th in the 2027 edition.
The achievement marks a significant rise for Malaysia&rsquo;s oldest university, which has steadily climbed the rankings in recent years. UM was placed in the 351&ndash;400 band in the 2023 edition before moving into the 201&ndash;250 band in 2026.

UM recorded particularly strong performances in International Outlook and Research Quality, highlighting the university&rsquo;s growing international academic network, research collaborations and global influence.
According to THE&rsquo;s assessment, UM scored 90.4 for International Outlook and 71.6 for Research Quality.
The university said its performance across the other areas also reflected its development as a comprehensive research institution with an increasingly prominent international presence.

UM Vice-Chancellor Datuk Seri Professor Ir Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman described the achievement as a milestone for the university and Malaysia&rsquo;s wider higher education sector. He said entering the global top 200 was not an endpoint, but a sign of UM&rsquo;s growing confidence, academic strength and international relevance.
Noor Azuan credited the achievement to the collective contributions of UM&rsquo;s academic and professional staff, researchers, students, alumni and partners, alongside support from the university&rsquo;s leadership, government and the wider Malaysian higher education community.
He also said the university would use the momentum to strengthen its research capabilities, expand its international impact and produce graduates equipped for the future.
29 Malaysian Universities Make The 2027 Rankings

Malaysia&rsquo;s progress was not limited to UM, with a total of 29 Malaysian universities appearing in the 2027 THE World University Rankings, compared with 27 institutions in the previous edition.
Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) emerged as Malaysia&rsquo;s second-highest-ranked university, placing joint 242nd. UTP had previously shared the 201&ndash;250 band with UM in the 2026 edition.
Sunway University ranked third among Malaysian institutions at 283rd, improving from the 301&ndash;350 band in the previous edition.
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was placed in the 301&ndash;325 band, while Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) entered the 326&ndash;350 band.
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was ranked in the 401&ndash;450 band, while Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) were both placed in the 451&ndash;500 band.
Management and Science University (MSU) ranked in the 501&ndash;550 band, while Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) was placed in the 551&ndash;600 band.
Other Malaysian institutions included Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), MAHSA University, Multimedia University (MMU) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).

THE Chief Global Affairs Officer Phil Baty said the latest results reflected a broader shift in global academic influence, with Asian institutions strengthening their positions internationally.
The 2027 rankings are the most inclusive edition to date, covering 2,297 universities across 118 countries and territories.
Oxford Retains Top Spot

Universiti Malaya Becomes First Malaysian University To Break Into THE World Top 200

Former UiTM Holdings Sdn Bhd (UHSB) chief executive officer Azlizan Fadzil has pleaded not guilty to a criminal breach of trust (CBT) charge involving RM37.37 million allegedly meant for the development of a large-scale solar power project in Gambang, Pahang.
Azlizan, 53, entered his plea at the Shah Alam Sessions Court after the charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Datuk Mohd Nasir Nordin. He arrived at the court in a wheelchair and was allowed to remain seated outside the accused dock during the proceedings.
According to the charge, Azlizan was entrusted with RM37,374,612.68 while serving as CEO of UiTM Holdings. The funds had been allocated for the investment and development of a 50-megawatt (MW) large-scale solar photovoltaic power generation project in Gambang, Pahang.
He is accused of dishonestly misappropriating the funds by authorising various payments for purposes other than those specified for the solar project.
The alleged offence took place between February 2 and October 2, 2017, at Affin Bank Berhad&rsquo;s UiTM Shah Alam branch at Menara Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah.
Charged Under Section 409 Of The Penal Code

Azlizan was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which relates to criminal breach of trust by a public servant, banker, merchant or agent.

During the proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Law Chin How, who appeared alongside 'Atirah Mohd Azuarizanuddin, proposed bail of RM100,000 with one surety.
The prosecution also requested that Azlizan be required to report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) once every three months.
Law argued that the proposed bail was reasonable given the amount allegedly involved, the high-profile nature of the case and the potential impact on the reputation of UiTM and UiTM Holdings. He also pointed to the allegation that public funds had been misused.
The prosecution further informed the court that it had received a medical report indicating that Azlizan had suffered a stroke and was experiencing cognitive impairment.
Defence Cites Health And Financial Difficulties

Azlizan&rsquo;s defence counsel, Hasshahari Johari Mawi, asked the court to reduce the bail to RM20,000, citing his client&rsquo;s health and financial circumstances. The defence said Azlizan was no longer working and had no current source of income following his departure from UiTM Holdings. He is said to be financially dependent on his wife and family.
His lawyer also told the court that Azlizan&rsquo;s wife is supporting their seven children, aged between 14 and 21, who are still pursuing their education. The defence argued that Azlizan&rsquo;s medical condition meant he was dependent on his family and unable to live independently. It also submitted that he posed no flight risk and had cooperated with investigators throughout the investigation.
The defence offered to surrender Azlizan&rsquo;s passport to the court and did not object to the proposed requirement for him to report to the MACC every three months.
Court Grants RM50,000 Bail

After hearing submissions from both the prosecution and defence, Judge Mohd Nasir granted Azlizan bail of RM50,000 with two sureties.
The court also ordered him to surrender his passport, report to the nearest MACC office once every three months and refrain from interfering with prosecution witnesses.
The case has been fixed for mention on November 3.
Azlizan&rsquo;s case is among the legal developments surrounding financial issues at UiTM Holdings, the wholly owned investment arm of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
UiTM Holdings Previously Reported RM157 Million In Losses

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, disclosed the directive during a gathering with UiTM alumni in Shah Alam on September 26. Earlier, MACC had also announced that a former senior management official of a corporation would face court action in connection with losses involving UiTM Holdings.
According to the anti-graft agency, investigations included allegations that operational expense payments totalling approximately RM42 million had been authorised to several companies in which the former official was believed to have an interest.
The investigation indicated that the alleged acts took place in 2017, when the suspect was accused of authorising payments to the companies. The latest charge against Azlizan specifically concerns RM37.37 million allegedly entrusted to him for the Gambang solar photovoltaic project.
As the case proceeds, the former UiTM Holdings CEO remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The next mention of the case is scheduled for November 3.

When financial difficulties pushed his company into a deficit, entrepreneur Ade Azhar Ismail found himself with just RM33 left in his savings account.
Rather than give up, he returned to his roots by selling nasi lemak from the boot of his car in Seksyen 9, Shah Alam.
Ade, who has spent almost 16 years as an entrepreneur and previously earned a five-figure income as the CEO of his own distribution company, admitted that returning to roadside selling was not an easy decision.
However, what started as a way to generate an income during a difficult period eventually grew into a new business venture, earning RM9,000 in profit in its first month.
From A 60-Person Team To Just 14 Employees

According to Harian Metro, Ade has never worked a salaried job, having started his business journey through direct selling by selling toys.
In 2009, he became the CEO of his own company, which distributed products including air fresheners, storybooks, children's books, educational reading materials and books on the life of the Prophet.
At its peak, the company had around 60 employees. However, its sales team gradually shrank, with Ade saying only 14 employees remain. Many of those who left were Gen Z workers who were no longer interested in direct selling.
The loss of his sales team, along with several business partners leaving, affected the company's operations and contributed to it running at a deficit from the middle of last year.
Despite the difficulties, the company remains operational. Ade decided not to draw a CEO's salary and instead started selling nasi lemak, using the proceeds as his income while putting the remainder towards the company.
He Initially Felt Embarrassed Selling By The Roadside

Returning to street trading was not easy for someone who had spent years running a company.
Ade admitted that he initially felt embarrassed about facing his siblings, relatives and employees while selling nasi lemak from his car boot.
However, he eventually put those feelings aside after remembering that his own business journey had started with direct selling. Friends and fellow business owners also supported him by visiting his selling spot and buying nasi lemak.
Ade said his family was initially unaware of the difficulties he was experiencing. His wife only found out about his new venture on the 15th day.
Since he sourced the nasi lemak from a distant relative rather than preparing it himself, she did not realise that he had started selling food by the roadside.
Started With Just 30 Packets

Ade's first day began with just 30 packets of nasi lemak.
He recalled feeling discouraged and even like a &ldquo;loser&rdquo; before starting, but his confidence grew once customers began buying. By the end of the day, all 30 packets had been sold.
Encouraged by the response, he continued with the business. A video of him selling nasi lemak later went viral on social media, bringing more attention to his venture.
Ade said his first month's profit reached RM9,000. By his 53rd day of selling, he had started recruiting workers and expanded the car-boot business to five additional locations.
Now Selling Up To 1,200 Packets A Day

By the 81st day, Ade and his team were selling as many as 1,200 packets of nasi lemak a day.

Roadside trading comes with challenges, from unpredictable weather to keeping up with growing demand. Despite this, Ade said they had sold out every day from the first day through to his 81st day.
Although the work is tiring, he said he enjoys meeting customers, including those who travel from far away to support his business.
&ldquo;Let Go Of Embarrassment And Ego&rdquo;
Ade sees the experience as an opportunity to reflect on his past mistakes and make improvements.
For others facing financial or business difficulties, he advised them not to let embarrassment or pride stop them from finding a way forward.
&ldquo;Let go of embarrassment and ego. Find a way out of your problems,&rdquo; he said.
Ade also encouraged people to make use of whatever experience and resources they already have instead of being afraid to start again.
&ldquo;Don't be afraid to start and, God willing, we can rise again and rebuild what we once worked for, even if we have to start from the bottom,&rdquo; he said.
